Breaking News: Mr. Perfect Not Fired From The WWE

Reported by: Ben Johnson - 06.27.2002 09:42 PM

This week, the AT&T Broadband network in Chicago aired a talk show that featured Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig. The interviewer was Lisa, and from what I have heard she is well-informed on wrestling and knows a great deal of wrestlers.

Lisa confronted Hennig about the airplane incident with Lesnar. Curt stated that it was nothing more than "horesplay" although he did end up slapping Lesnar in the back of the head. Curt claimed that the current wrestlers just don't have fun anymore, and he wants the old "wrestling" to come back.

Hennig also mentioned that he has nothing personal against Vince and he and the McMahon family get along very well.

The big shocker, however, was that Mr. Perfect claimed the WWE website falsely reported that the company "let him go" when he in fact is on a 120-day suspension. He also added that Lesnar is a great guy and they still keep in contact. Hennig hopes that he can manage Brock upon his return to the WWE.

Please God of Wrestling, let this be true...

Hennig would be a great anything.

If I were a woman I'd sure like to be his girlfriend.

Hennig would be great with Lesnar, IMO. If Shelton Benjamin joins RAW they could reform the Minnesota Wrecking Crew with Hennig as the manager, hell, he already carries a towel.

It would be great to have Hennig manage Lesnar. Maybe Lesnar will get over with a more physical manager.

If he and Shelton reformed The Minnesota Stretching Crew, then I would not keep my eyes off the tv.

Hennig could still be a great manager.

I gotta argee with GenerationNever on this. Hennig was a great wrestler and all-round talent back in the day, and I would love to see him wrestle again, but the sad fact is that he has seen better days as far as in ring competion goes. However, he'd be a really great manager for anyone on the WWE roster.

I don't care about him anymore. He's better off not taking up any roster space. Maybe he won't be too bad as a manager. He can promote his "Perfect Team" and whatnot.

If he's not fired, and they don't want him wrestling, the WWE could put him on Heat to fill the colour commentator spot. From what I remember, he was pretty good when they had him commentating a few years ago.

Lesnar needs a less physical manager. Heyman's interfered in just about every match he's had, good in that it shows Lesnar's vulnerability, bad in that it shows that he can't beat anyone without help. This bad aspect would be even worse off if he suddenly needs his manager to soften his opponents up also. He's being pushed as an unstoppable monster, such a monster shouldn't need help to beat up Bubba Dudley.

Great news about Hennig is it's true.

As a huge Perfect mark back in the day, I gotta say- I hope he doesnt come back.

He seemed like a negative influence on Lesnar and he had a huge attitude problem and thats not what WWE needs right now.

I second that, Bob.

Good God, he's only been gone, what, a month, and already people have forgotten how much he sucked? Not only was Hennig a total train-wreck in the ring, all of his backstage skits made him look completely coked up and generally crazy in the least comedic way possible. He was horendous. No value whatsoever, manager or wrestler.

Bottom Line: Hennig hasn't been good in almost a decade. He shouldn't be brought back, he should retire.

if he was a manager it would be cool. but how do we know he wasn't all loaded on the radio?

from his last run in the wwe it was obvious that he wasn't exactly what he used to be, hell he wasn't even what he was in the royal rumble this year.

bring back as an executive consultant again and it would be pretty sweet.

Hennig look as Good at 2002 as he did when he took on Bossman at Wm7 in 91. He maybe older but that doesn't mean anything. Hell He Perfect Plex the Big Show! Doesn't anyone remember it.

If its true and Hennig is still with the WWE then Its all good. If both Hennig and Lesnar really doesn't have any heat after the plane ride then there isn't a point to fire him off.

Hennig could wrestle, Hennig can Manage or Do commentary. He did it all before.

i liked him on commentary when he used to be injured in the wwf. he always knew exactly what was going on in the ring so maybe he should get a heat or velocity tryout.

I assume this is a rip on the "BASEketball" scene where Robert Stack is doing the Unsolved Mysteries segment, talking about how Joe Cooper ended the sweatshop. He goes off on how he's such a nice guy, and "if I were a woman, I'd sure like to be his girlfriend."

I don't remember his match with Bossman in 91, but if it's anything like what we saw of him this year, then it must have sucked ass. Being able to lift Big Show over one's head means nothing in professional wrestling. His matches have been sloppy and tiresome. Other than the nostalgia factor, I don't see why a lot of you guys have such a hard-on for him.

I remember Big Show no-selling the Perfect Plex. Bastard.

All of Perfect's... 5 matches when he returned were a mix - some were good, some were awful, ALL were short. I think he CAN still cut it, but I dunno if he will.

i think it revolved around bobby heenan dissing the big bossman's mother and he went through the whole Heenah family with the IC champ Perfect being the last.
