WRESTLER STEVE AUSTIN IN FIGHT OF HIS LIFE

He wants a baby — but his wife doesn't

Wrestling superstar "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is "heading for disaster" — and the headline-making fight with his stunning wife Debra is just the tip of his devastating problems.

"STONE COLD" Steve wants to quit the ring -- but pals fear wife Debra (below) will leave him if he does.

"Both his professional life and personal life are spiraling out of control," disclosed an insider.

And Austin's longtime friend Melanie King, widow of late wrestler Brian Pillman, told The ENQUIRER: "The marriage between Steve and Debra is rocky at best."

Austin, 37, who's been severely injured in the ring, had been looking forward to retirement and starting a family with 42-year-old Debra.

"But Debra keeps pushing him back into wrestling, saying that if he quits, she'll leave him. She is captivated by the fame and their arguments are getting more frequent," says Melanie.

"She flatly refuses to have kids because she doesn't want to lose her figure. Steve is devastated by her decision."

AUSTIN'S WIFE Debra.

Adding to his misery, Austin was yanked from the talent roster of World Wrestling Entertainment (formerly the WWF) in mid-June after failing to show up for two matches. Sources say he is very unhappy with the story lines given him and feels he was losing his star status.

But now his career may be entirely over, says an industry source.

"World Wrestling Entertainment is the only game in town. There isn't any competition."

The mounting pressures finally came to a head for the gifted grappler who won millions of fans with his beer-swilling redneck persona and trademark growl, "Hell, yeah!"

On June 15 his blonde bombshell wife, also a pro wrestler, called police to their San Antonio home.

"I can't believe he hit me," a crying Debra told cops, according to the police report obtained by The ENQUIRER.

She told authorities that Austin had beaten her on the head and back, and then left the house.

Stone Cold's wife "had a large noticeable welt on the right side of her face just below her eye," the responding officer noted in his report, and she charged that her husband "hit her several times." She refused paramedic treatment.

Debra did not file charges so her husband was not considered a fugitive.

"Steve's life is heading for disaster," the insider concluded.

Added his pal Melanie: "He's in a rough spot right now. Hopefully, he'll get it together before it gets any worse."

I can't believe Austin thought Debra would want kids. She always seemed like someone who was obessed with her figure and seems like a vain person. Not that she deserved to be hit. Austin would of been better off filing for divorce. It would be costly but Austin has to be smart enough to have Debra sign a pre-nup.

I never believe a tabloid. But that Weekly World News, man, now THAT'S reporting!

Oh, well, then I guess he was just totally justified in smacking her around.

Seriously, the only thing this article does is try to make Debra look like the bad guy. And....well, I imagine she IS a hard-to-deal-with bitch, but that doesn't give him the right to put his hands on her.

National Enquirer, eh?

Was this before or after the story about the three-headed Elvis babies from space?

No, the Weekly World News does outlandish supernatural/unearthly/freakish stuff. The National Enquirer is different in that they call those matters celebrity reporting.

Yeah, or Clinton's 80th mistress speaks, when we all know that she was really the 81st.

Tabloids are sometimes true. The enquirer was praised for their reporting during the OJ Trial, and played a large role in the LAPD charging Roert Blake with murder.

I don't see where this article is saying it was ok for Austin to hit Debra.

A couple of months ago the WWN had a letter "signed" by Stone Cold Steve Austin (on the cover was a four legged girl banned from skating in the Olympics,) so they do some celeberty crap. I don't remember what the letter said though.

Julia Roberts has said something similar to this as well... and even though you're free to do whatever you want with your body, I can't say I respect that decision. It's stupid (you can always lose the weight, especially if you're a celebrity), and incredibly vain.

Then again, at her age it's not exactly the wisest decision to have kids anyway. I thought Steve already had a teenage daughter though? Was that by somebody else or have I just thought wrong?

Why in the world would Steve Austin marry a 42-year-old hag who will probably take half of his money when they divorce when he could be banging 25-year-old hotties every night? I think Austin has some sort of fetish for middle-aged, fat-lipped platinum blondes. If you look at his ex-wife and Debra, they could be sisters.

""But Debra keeps pushing him back into wrestling, saying that if he quits, she'll leave him. She is captivated by the fame ""

Debra did not deserve to be hit by Steve in any way, but why is she do adamant about Steve rejoining the WWE? He has enough millions to make sure he (or his grandkids) doesn't have to worry about money for the rest of his life. It seems that Steve is trying to fix things in his life since he's thinking about having another child and retiring. Yet Debra is still pushing for the opposite. Even if he decides to come back, I doubt Vince would like that.....

I'm not sure how credible this is coming from the enquirer and all. I know they've reported some stuff to be true, but they have some pretty outlandish "reports" in there as well.

Steve shoould just stay home banging Debra everyday. I would. Not that I'd mind him returning, but, you know what I mean.
