vs. Diesel, Good Friends Better Enemies 1996

I wouldn't say that was a great match, but it was a damn good brawl.

HBK/Mankind Mind Games by a sliver. Right behind it is HBK/Razor WM 10 ladder match followed by HBK/Taker HIAC match.

HBK vs Undertaker HIAC: Badd Blood. It just seemed like an awesome squash by Taker that was made all the better by Michael's bumping like God would kill him on the spot if he did anything else. Michaels was still able to get some offense in and even the Kane interference didn't tar the match much for me.

Oh God, so many to choose from...

I'm gonna be a little bit different and go with the no holds barred match vs. Diesel from "Good Friends, Better Enemies". It is one of my favorite matches of all time because they told such a good story. Towards the end when Shawn blasts Diesel with the fire extinguisher and starts ducking and punching, you just wanna start cheering him on and go, "Hit 'em! Hit 'em! Hit 'em!"

Either Bret/Shawn Iron Man match at WM or Mankind/Shawn at Mind Games.

This might seem sad but I've only seen one high profile HBK match and that was the ladder against Ramon... So I have to go with that (though it looks like it's a good choice anyway).

How can you even choose? They were all *****, and they were all great in their own way:

Hell in the Cell, the Ladder Matches - Totally revolutionary at the time. If you were watching WrestleMania X on pay-per-view in '94 or Badd Blood on pay-per-view in '97, all you could do was let your jaw drop and go, "Wow, I've NEVER seen anything like this before." HBK MADE those two match types famous.

Iron Man Match - HBK and Bret were the only two wrestlers of the modern era who could pull this match off. Nobody thought that they could do it, but they not only did they do it, they had what many people consider to be the greatest WrestleMania main event of all time. You saw a little bit of everything in that match, and what was even more amazing was how they had the fans on the edge of their seats for the last 20 minutes after already going for 40 minutes.

IYH 2, v. Jeff Jarrett - Textbook. Just the perfect old-school wrestling match. If you were running a pro wrestling clinic, you should show a tape of this match.

Mind Games, Good Friends, Better Enemies, Ground Zero - Once again, revolutionary. In these three matches, HBK defined what a good brawl in the WWF should look like. He totally laid out the blueprint for the brawling style that WAS the WWF during the Attitude Era.

Mind Games with Foley would be number one followed by the second Ladder match from SummerSlam 95 and then the last one would be the first Ladder match at WM 10.

1.) HBK vs. Taker, Hell in a Cell, Badd Blood '97

2.) HBK vs. Mankind, Mind Games '96

3.) HBK vs. Razor, Ladder Match, Summerslam '95

4.) HBK vs. Razor, Ladder Match, WrestleMania X

5.) HBK vs. Bret, Iron Man, WrestleMania XII

6.) HBK vs. Diesel, Streetfight, Good Friends Better Enemies

7.) HBK vs. Austin, King of the Ring '97

8.) HBK vs. Jarrett, In Your House 2

9.) HBK vs. Bulldog, King of the Ring '96

10.) HBK vs. Bret, Survivor Series '92

I've never seen the '93 IC title match with Jannetty which (I think?) won MotY.

I would have to say Vs. Ramon from Summerslam '95. Ending was slightly botched, but it didn't detract nearly as much as Mind Games' did. I don't see how anyone can compare Bad Blood '97 to either of those, to be honest. I would rank that one under "Shawn Michaels best performances" (alongside Vs. Diesel and Vs. Sid) but not under best matches.

I really need to see IYH II, though. That match gets pimped all the time.

It won MOTY for the WWF, and in '93, no less. Pretty much everything WWF that year totally sucked, in short. Elsewhere there were FAR great things being done. Even then, and sticking to the WWF, Hart/Perfect from KOTR is widely-considered better by those who have seen both, and while I liked Michaels in '93, I don't think he was capable of accomplishing something better than that at time.
