Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted June 29, 2002 I almost hate to suggest this since I make a living off of selling Coliseum Video releases, but WWE Home Video really needs to start experimenting with releasing older pay-per-view events on DVD. You can't tell me that there isn't a market for this stuff, because Coliseum Video releases of some of the rarer In Your House events go for ABSURD amounts of money on eBay. Just this past month, I sold a used Coliseum Video of "Mind Games" for $530 and a used Coliseum Video of "It's Time" for $400. Even if they don't re-release all of the old Coliseum Video releases on DVD, at least throw us a bone and give us box DVD sets of the Big Five pay-per-views. Guest SuperTonyJaymz Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Man...you lucky bastard...who would pay that much money for a tape!
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 29, 2002 "It's Time" went for 400? WHY?
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted June 29, 2002 I've always said there's a fortune waiting to be made with the wcw tape library. Just start releasing some old wcw events on dvd, or make new compilations using the old footage like the best of Starcade or a complete history of Ric Flair's career with footage from both wcw and wwf. There are probably a million other things they could release as well.
Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Why? Because: a) Coliseum Video is no more. All Coliseum Videos are out of print. Have been for years. B) In Your House 12: It's Time was a very poorly distributed title. Most Coliseum Video releases you can find on the bargain rack of your local video store. Not so with IYH 12. IYH 2, IYH: Mind Games, and IYH 15: A Cold Day In Hell and IYH 19: D-Generation X (if it exists) are also very rare and will draw huge money on eBay if you have the Coliseum Video originals. I have never seen a commercial release of IYH 19: D-Generation X and I dare say that if you had it and were to sell it on eBay, you would get $1,500-$2,000 for it. Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Were Coliseum Video and Evart Enterprises just divisions of Titan Sports?
Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Kinda. "Coliseum Video" was a Titan Sports creation. Hillbilly Jim was the head of Coliseum Video, now he's the head of WWE Home Video. A&H Video Sales distributed the tapes out a factory in New Jersey. They may have produced the tapes as well, but I'm not sure about that. I do know that the tapes were produced in a studio in Titan Tower. A&H were independent contractors, which is why the WWF phased out Coliseum Video in late '97...so that they could save money producing and distributing their own stuff. Remember super fans Adam and George? They actually worked for Coliseum. Evart Enterprises did the box artwork.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Did you sell a PAL-coverted Its Time for 400 or a real Coliseum version? I buy on ebay so I remember my jaw dropping seeing how high those tapes went
Guest wwF1587 Report post Posted June 29, 2002 I sincerely hope Vince does that too. The early IYH ppvs were only 2 hours so he could put like two of them on a dvd and sell it for 20 bucks. I doubt he will do that for WCW but hey, theres hope.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted June 29, 2002 I used to have a ton of Coliseum home videos.. and they got thrown away when I moved a couple of years ago
Guest Prince Paul Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Yeah, Vince really needs to start doing something with that library he has. Maybe he's waiting for the WWE to start losing money before he busts out the archives. I'd like a complete IYH set actually. I can't wait until WWE has it's own cable network, 24/7. My wife will hate me.
Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted June 29, 2002 It would be extremely hard to market an In Your House box set. Here's why: 1. There were 27 In Your House events. They'd have to split it up into 3 box sets of 9 discs, otherwise it would cost $250-400 even if they charged as low as $10-15 per disc. Now, that is no problem for me. I am a hardcore collector, I have an income, and I know that getting all of the In Your Houses in perfect DVD quality on a format that will never wear out is well worth the investment. But then you have your casual fans or your 15-year-old tape traders with no job/income who are used to getting all of their tapes for barter or for bargain bin prices and they will whine and cry. 2. The casual fans are familiar with SummerSlam and Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble and the King of the Ring since those pay-per-views are still around. It'd be easy to market Big 5 box sets. It'd be harder to market an In Your House box set(s), since that was a mid-1990s concept. I think only the hardcore fans are nostalgic about the old In Your Houses. 3. The WWE would have to recognize that the fans actually are interested in and MARKET an era before WrestleMania 14, something they are not very good at. Guest Brian Report post Posted June 29, 2002 IYH:DX on commercial tape does not exist. I've been searching for years for a second gen. copy of the commercial tape.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted June 29, 2002 IYH:DX does exist in commercial form, but I believe it was only in that Silvervision or whatever the UK versions were called. Does anybody realize that before WW(F)E started putting their foot down on selling bootlegs on ebay that the most you could get was maybe 40-50 bucks on a commercial release, and only then for something major like Survivor Series 97 or some of the rarer IYHs. Now they go for $500 or more because they're about 3000 times harder to find. Makes you wonder why WWE Home Video hasn't broken down and started rereleasing the pr-1998 footage yet and pocket $14.95 per for themselves.
