Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted June 30, 2002 1. These are brand-new, factory-sealed Coliseum Video releases. These are not old, worn-out rental tapes from the bargain bin of your local Blockbuster. Some people care about quality. 2. Coliseum Videos are out of print. Factory-sealed copies are even harder to come by. When something is out of print, that makes the price go up. I believe this is commonly known as "supply and demand". 3. Shipping to anywhere in North America is free. You can tack on $4-7 right there. 4. This site is marketed towards serious collectors with...you know, an income. 5. When Coliseum Video WAS around, they charged $59.99-39.99 for these babies. Therefore, you are saving you more $$ than I am even charging for the tape itself. 6. When WWE Home Video was charging $39.99 for pay-per-view videos 2 years ago, I didn't hear anybody bitching and moaning about it then.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 30, 2002 "3. Shipping to anywhere in North America is free. You can tack on $4-7 right there." If shipping is free why should I tack $4-7 on right there? IT'S FREE, therefore I shouldn't have to tack anything on anywhere. "4. This site is marketed towards serious collectors with...you know, an income." I have money, but that doesn't mean I want to spend $27 on a two-hour tape. "5. When Coliseum Video WAS around, they charged $59.99-39.99 for these babies. Therefore, you are saving you more $$ than I am even charging for the tape itself." Wouldn't I be saving more money by buying a dubbed, PPV version from any other tape dealer for $5? Is the fucking box really worth $22? "6. When WWE Home Video was charging $39.99 for pay-per-view videos 2 years ago, I didn't hear anybody bitching and moaning about it then." Well I never bought one, but I'm not going to bitch and moan about it because there is no one here who can do a damn thing about it. Just because the WWF charged $39.99 last year doesn't mean $39.99 is a fair or worthwhile price.

In other words, it's $4-7 you are saving. I have money, but that doesn't mean I want to spend $27 on a two-hour tape. Then don't. But I don't think you have to make a big issue of it either. Just like if you don't like the WWE product, turn it off. Wouldn't I be saving more money by buying a dubbed, PPV version from any other tape dealer for $5? Is the fucking box really worth $22? No, the box isn't worth $22...but having the event in SP mode instead of a degraded 20th-generation dub in EP or SLP mode is to a lot of collectors. Just because the WWF charged $39.99 last year doesn't mean $39.99 is a fair or worthwhile price. Agreed. That's why I charge much less than $39.99.
Guest Andy Report post Posted July 1, 2002 Shock horror perhaps, but here in the UK we do all our copying on SP. Thanks, Andy
Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted July 1, 2002 You guys also got much better video quality with the PAL format...although the VHS format is quickly being wiped out and DVD will make all things equal. Fans in the U.K. have it great. Here in the U.S., you can only buy WWE pay-per-views down to January of 1998. But in the U.K., Silver Vision carries all of the old Coliseum Video releases. You can get most of them on blackstar.co.uk. Of course, you'll have to pay £19.99 plus shipping! ::gasp::
Guest JMTapes Report post Posted July 1, 2002 Guys, The man is simply saying that he has CVs for sale. If you're not interested, just don't post. -Jim
Guest midnightxpress 4life Report post Posted July 2, 2002 The reason Coliseum charged 60 bucks per video is because most of their orders would come from video stores. Those are rental stores prices. As an example if you go into NYC to the Virgin records store they have some VHS tapes that are 120 bucks because that's the original price the company sells them for as they are expecting video stores to buy them then the price would go to 20 for the public. Video stores pay the high prices cause they easily make their money back

Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted July 3, 2002 Turner Home Ent. prices for WCW videos were AWFUL. Some were the standard $19.99-$29.99, but some were $59.99 plus shipping, even on Amazon.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted July 3, 2002 There are a handful of THV releases from the mid-90's that are still around now for $12.99-$19.99. I believe they were Starrcade 93, Spring Stampede 94, Slamboree 94, GAB 96, BATB 96 and Hog Wild 96. I was able to find Fall Brawl 95 for $5! I think that one goes for a lot on Amazon too. Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted July 3, 2002 Yeah, I bought all of those, and only because they were so cheap.
