"Bashing Gore for a failure doesn't make Bush any less of a complete idiot."

It's amazing that liberals are still using this childish name-calling two years after the election. The president may not be a super genius, but he's a much more intelligent and capable man than your great liberal "journalists" would have you believe.

"Hell, Bush could be a god damn genius but he won't show it because his mouth is full of marbles when it comes to most public speaking."

He's actually gotten much better with his public speaking since he took office. But since you're just parroting the Politburo Press, I wouldn't expect you to have noticed that.

"I'll make a deal, if the GOP promises to lay all the lies and bashing related to Clinton and sex in a grave, we'll stop telling the truth about Bush being an idiot."

You seem to have a dubious idea what the truth is. Clinton was a liar and a philanderer, and while it's rather pointless to call him on those things now, anyone who does is still being truthful. Bush being an "idiot" is a matter of conjecture the Left likes to use to undermine him. That's the difference.

"Gore blew it. He doesn't deserve a second chance."

Amen.

"Do you people that blame the economy on Clinton also credit Reagan for the good economy?"

Yes, and I also gave Clinton credit for the economic turnaround during his first term. It's debateable how much the president affects the economy, but they all take office with an economic package in mind, they all submit budgets to Congress, and the economy succeeds or fails during their watches. I could uncharitably point out that the bulk of the economic boon under Clinton occurred after the Republicans gain control of Congress in 1994, but we don't really need to go down that road, do we?

"One last thing, we do not have a Liberal Media or a Conservative Media in this country. We have a Tabloid Media..."

Well, we DO have a tabloid media, but when 85-90% of them vote Democrat in the elections, I think it's safe to say the media tends to be liberal.

Do you people that blame the economy on Clinton also credit Reagan for the good economy? Let's face it, THE PRESIDENT DOES NOT CONTROL THE ECONOMY!

That was the excuse of all Clinton sympathizers during the Lewinski scandal. "Sure, he had sex in the oval office and then lied about it to the American people... but the economy is good so what's the problem?"

So on that basis I guess we should bash Bush because his daughters are drug abusers, even though, you think he is handling the war well?

His daughters are drug abusers? SInce when? They got caught drinking underage. How many of you drank underage? I did and I got caught once but I haven't doen an illegal drug since 1999, am I a drug abuser?

Clinton smoked weed and so did Gore are they drug abusers?

<<<<I think that Bush is far more honorable then either Gore or Nader and Clinton makes Bush look like the Pope by comparison.>>>>

Bwahahahahahahaha, Bush, honorable eh? That is a good one.

Far more so than Clinton, Gore, and Nader.

Did Bush get his dick sucked in the Oval Office by a 21 year old and lie about it? Did Bush claim he invented the Interenet and then lie to his supporters by telling them that he really won the election? Did Bush go on an all out assault against car manufacturers and spread lies about them?

NO, he didn't. Therefore he *IS* more honorable than the three men I mentioned.

Ask the taxpayers who paid up for a new Rangers stadium about Bush.

Ask the SEC, who noticed Bush didn't notify them properly of a sale about his honor. Heck, Bush and Ari said two different things about that. Who's telling the truth?

"It's amazing that liberals are still using this childish name-calling two years after the election. The president may not be a super genius, but he's a much more intelligent and capable man than your great liberal "journalists" would have you believe."

Bush is the one asking "is our children learning", claiming El Jefe as FRENCH, asking the President of Brazil "do you have blacks in your country?"

If your an idiot, and I call you an idiot, am I at fault for name calling or are you at fault because your an idiot?

"But since you're just parroting the Politburo Press, I wouldn't expect you to have noticed that."

WAIT A FUCKIN' MINUTE!!!!

aren't you calling the press names now? Way to be a hypocrite. I guess since you don't like them, they're communists.

"I could uncharitably point out that the bulk of the economic boon under Clinton occurred after the Republicans gain control of Congress in 1994, but we don't really need to go down that road, do we?"

but, if Clinton is to blame for the economy now, what about the Republican house and senate? do they get off the hook? People can't blame the economy on Clinton and credit the economy's success to the GOP congress. Unless you have two faces.

"Well, we DO have a tabloid media, but when 85-90% of them vote Democrat in the elections"

You don't have any proof of that and you know it. And proof isn't some study from 1992.

"That was the excuse of all Clinton sympathizers during the Lewinski scandal. "Sure, he had sex in the oval office and then lied about it to the American people... but the economy is good so what's the problem?""

My statement for that would be "What the hell is it any of your damn business what he does? Should we be spending millions of dollars to find out who you may have screwed?"

"How many of you drank underage?"

and if so, how many of you were the children of the President, AND TRIED TO USE A DAMN FAKE ID? How fuckin stupid do you have to be to be the first daughters and think some guy isn't gonna recongize you when you're saying your damn name is Maria Valquez or something? Hell, Chuy's in Austin is pretty damn public in the first place. Just because alot of people do something that is unlawful doesn't make it right.

Didn't Barb and Jenna go out drinking some more in DC after they were caught at Chuy's?

"Clinton smoked weed and so did Gore are they drug abusers?"

There is a difference between using and abusing. You can drink a little bit, or you can drink yourself stupid and go into a coma. Same goes for any drug out there, you can use it, or you can smoke alot of it and abuse it.

Bleh...

"If your an idiot..."

That's "you're," brighteyes. Obviously, your vast genius with the English language gives you every right to criticize the President for his gaffes.

"aren't you calling the press names now? Way to be a hypocrite."

How? I've never been positive on the press in general, so my slamming is both expected and not new behavior. And I wasn't referring to the press as a whole, but since you obviously missed that, there's no need for me to explain it further.

"but, if Clinton is to blame for the economy now, what about the Republican house and senate?"

You missed my point. I said I was willing to give Clinton credit for the positive economic turnaround that occurred during his first term. One of your neo-socialist icons was paid something approaching a compliment, so just accept it with a smile and move on.

""Well, we DO have a tabloid media, but when 85-90% of them vote Democrat in the elections"

You don't have any proof of that and you know it."

Hey, thanks for telling me what I know. Actually, there have been several studies and surveys conducted (more recently than 1992, though why that year is so significant to you as a drop-dead note, I don't know) that documented the voting tendencies of the press. I'll leave it to you to find them, since I obviously don't know what I'm talking about...

"How fuckin stupid do you have to be to be the first daughters and think some guy isn't gonna recongize you..."

Honestly, I wouldn't recognize either of them today if I tripped and fell over them. I think a lot of people have better things to do than concern themselves with what the first daughters look like.

"That's "you're," brighteyes. Obviously, your vast genius with the English language gives you every right to criticize the President for his gaffes."

I typed that, I didn't say it wrong outloud. I didn't ask "is our children learning". Plus, Bush has me beat on gaffes by about 600 to 1 in the first place. I have a better track record than him. Everybody makes at least one gaffe, does that mean that nobody can criticize anybody for what they say wrong? no it doesn't.

It says alot that you have to go into grammar nazi mode in a reply. Doesn't it?

"And I wasn't referring to the press as a whole"

You referred to the "Politboro Press" and you've colored the Press is mainly Liberal. I'd say you are referring to about 90% of the press in your opinion. Since you think 90% or so of them vote for the Democrats.

"Actually, there have been several studies and surveys conducted (more recently than 1992, though why that year is so significant to you as a drop-dead note, I don't know) that documented the voting tendencies of the press. I'd do it, but I'm sure there's nothing out there that isn't from some conservative financed institute. I'm leaving it up to you.

and for the record, which party do the bosses of these news companies vote for? I'd conceed Ted Turner as a Dem.. but I'm sure those corporate bigwigs are voting for the GOP.

"Honestly, I wouldn't recognize either of them today if I tripped and fell over them."

Name this first daughter! ;-)

"I think a lot of people have better things to do than concern themselves with what the first daughters look like."

Uh huh.. sure.. but, would you assume that an Austin bar, in the middle of a state where George W. was governor for 6 years, would fall for the Twins using fake IDs? that was a plainly stupid move. Maybe for awhile, intelligence goes from the daddy to the daughters. Hehehe... :)

I hope we all learn a lesson today... it's childish name calling to call the President an idiot, but it's not yet childish name calling to claim 90% of the press are communist politboro members.

"It says alot that you have to go into grammar nazi mode in a reply. Doesn't it?"

It says a lot that you criticize the president for a grammatical faux pas ("Is our children learning?"), then make a significant one yourself. Certainly you can still criticize him as you see fit, but it doesn't mean as much if people see you in the same league you're trying to put him in with your criticisms.

"You referred to the "Politboro Press" and you've colored the Press is mainly Liberal. I'd say you are referring to about 90% of the press in your opinion."

I'd say you're wrong. The press has a definite bias toward the left, but my "Politburo Press" remark really only referred to the extreme neo-socialist segment of the media. There are no exact figures to go on here, but I doubt it's more than 10%, and probably isn't even that high. There's a big difference between being a liberal and being a socialist.

"I'd conceed Ted Turner as a Dem.. but I'm sure those corporate bigwigs are voting for the GOP."

I don't know if you're talking about major corporations in general, or major news corporations. Turner is obviously a Democrat, while Rupert Murdoch is obviously a Republican. ABC, NBC, and CBS tend to lean to the left, to varying degrees, which probably reflects the leanings of their CEOs. As for major corporations in general, I'd say the majority of CEOs do vote Republican, since the GOP doesn't automatically see big businesses as evil entities that need to be taxed and regulated into oblivion.

"Name this first daughter! ;-)"

Since we've been talking about them, I'll guess one of the Bush girls. And of course they weren't terribly bright for trying to pass off fake IDs in Texas, but to presume they're widely known nationwide is a bit much.

"it's childish name calling to call the President an idiot, but it's not yet childish name calling to claim 90% of the press are communist politboro members."

Nice try, but I already clarified that one above. I thought it was obvious enough when I first typed it (especially considering the double capitals), but I guess it wasn't.

Bush's daughters are twenty years old, they made a stupid mistake. That doesn't necessarily make them stupid. They were trying to normal twenty year old kids and they got caught like because they aren't normal twenty year olds. That is one problem I have with all Presidents who have young and teanage kids, the kids lose the freedom that I or you have/had. Have they gotten in trouble since then? No they haven't so they seemed to have learned their lesson, besides I think it's inapropriate to even discuss the President's daughter's private lives, I will stop now unless you chose to bring them back up again.

Do you have a sister or a girlfriend who is/was that age? If so then I be willing to bet that they have had their picture taking in a similar way. It happens, that's what twenty year olds do. You should see all the pistures that have been taken of me in the last few years at parties.

It is my business if he's wasting taxpayer time and money by having sex with an intern in the Oval Office. It is my business if he then lies, LIES, about it to the American public. It is my business if he sexually harasses someone. It is my business if he rapes Juanita Broderick.

"It is my business if he's wasting taxpayer time and money by having sex with an intern in the Oval Office."

Hell, I never liked Clinton one bit, and I didn't care if he got his mack on in the Oval Office. And if he can score with 21 year-old interns, more power to him.

"It is my business if he then lies, LIES, about it to the American public."

Part of being the president involves lying to the public sometimes. I didn't expect him to come out and admit it, so it was no big deal when he lied about it. I did care when he lied before a grand jury about it, though, and had his buddy Vernon Jordan try to subourn perjury.

"It is my business if he sexually harasses someone."

Yes, because that is illegal if it can be proven.

"It is my business if he rapes Juanita Broderick."

As far as I know, that's still unproven.

Broderick is the young black girl from one of the southern states, right?

I had a problem with Clinton's adultery, I think that alone made him a liar. He promised his wife when he married her that he wouldn't cheat. Then he pointed his finger in my face on TV and lied about it, then he lied to a grand jury about it.

Is it your business if some guy runs an independent council and spends millions of the taxpayers money and millions and cannot get ANYBODY convicted of an actual crime?

now, tell me, how was Clinton spending your money in relation to his relations with Monica Lewinski?

and as Dr. Tom said, it's not proven that Clinton did anything to Juanita. Not to mention it took about 18 years before she even persued that. After she figured some money could be made off it.

and for the record, I recall Juanita as some Arkansas white woman.

Juanita

you might be thinking of the one black woman who claims a lovechild with Clinton.

and let's face it.. Clinton was a victim of his own prosperity. The economy was good, we weren't getting into wars, and the media needed a new source of stories to give them ratings, so they started helping the dig into Clinton's sex life.

If the same rules were used for Bush by the Dems that were used for Clinton by the Republicans, the call for impeachment over the SEC filling scandal would have been called.

So, feel good that the Democrats are being wimps to the President.

They're being "wimps" because the President still has a 76% approval rating. Which is amazing considering it's been 10 months since 9/11. The Dems found out that it's stupid to diss a Pres with a high approval rating earlier this year.

So how honorable was it for everyone to send the ratings so high when watching every bit and piece of news involving sex in the whitehouse? I am excusing his affair, it was wrong, blah blah, but isn't our fascination with the "sex" aspect of the "scandal" just as dishonorable? As far as Gore goes, why are people still ignoring Gore's explanation for that, all he meant was he invested time and money to the prosperity of the internet, he has said time and time again that it was just a mis-management of words.

As far as Nader spreading lies, I am not sure what lies he spread about car companies, but if you could elaborate it would be nice, so I can rebuke them.

Nothing honorable about Bush/Cheney letting Enron, and probobaly WorldCom CEO's off the hook. President's are supposed to ALWAYS be for the american working class, that is what they ALL run on, yet somehow Enron execs and most likely WorldCom execs are gonna get off the hook, all because people think we shouldn't be questioning any decision the president makes in a time of war.......

The strangest thing, from a Euro point of view, is that the Bush twins are seen as some sort of hoodlum for trying to get a beer when they are 20 years old! In this country (which is one of the more conservative of the continent) at the age of 20 you are a full grown adult capable of leaving school, marriage, voting, and *shock* drinking, so no-one on this side of the Atlantic judges GW Bush harshly for his daughters' actions, but is more concerned with political actions, same as when Clinton was in office, no-one was that bothered about his libido-shenanigans, but more concerned about his presedential decisions.

Clinton had a high personal approval rating, since he was an affable chap with an aw-shucks demeanor who related to people very well. His *job* approval rating, however, was never very high after he'd been in office a couple years.

Hey Tommy... I recall that his Job approval rating was around 80% when he left, but his PERSONAL approval rating was in the crapper.

maybe it's just me and my vast left-wing conspiracy.

It's still fun to know that more people that served the Reagan administration have been convicted of crimes than people in the Clinton administration.

"I recall that his Job approval rating was around 80% when he left, but his PERSONAL approval rating was in the crapper."

Then both of our memories are faulty. I'm selling him short, while you're giving him too much credit. Clinton's job approval rating as 2000 dawned was about 60%, and was about 65% late in the year.

Here's an interesting tidbit I found in the USA Today archives, from late 1999:

"While Gore does benefit from Clinton's robust job approval ratings, he is clearly being hurt by weariness with problems of the Clinton administration. An overwhelming majority (74%) of Americans agree with the statement, "I am tired of all the problems associated with the Clinton administration." This view is held by 77% of Independents and 64% of Democrats. Among those who express fatigue, 60% say they would vote for Bush over Gore in a two-way 2000 match-up; only 35% pick Gore."

This indicates that it was his personal approval rating that was lagging behind.

Here's an interesting snippet concerning how people feel about Clinton now that he has left office:

"A recent Gallup Poll has confirmed what many suspected would be the case: Bill Clinton's retrospective presidential approval rating has plummeted to 51%, far below the average of his second term. There is no reason to believe that his fall in public esteem has yet reached bottom. Only two other presidents since 1960 have experienced declining approval ratings after leaving office (Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon). To the contrary, most presidents see their approval ratings rise after they leave office, as mistakes and partisan battles recede into the past.

This news has undoubtedly caused enormous consternation for Mr. Clinton and his entourage, who were veritably obsessed with advancing his "legacy." Perhaps the first lesson in all of this is that there may be an inverse relationship between the attention a president lavishes on promoting his historical reputation and the reputation he actually achieves.

Of course, the circumstances surrounding Clinton's departure from office (most notably, his spate of highly questionable pardons), the plea-bargain he was forced to accept, and some of his subsequent solipsistic comments (e.g. his thinly veiled complaint that he wished the terrorist attack had occurred while he was president) have all contributed to his downward slide. But there is a more fundamental problem facing his attempts at rehabilitation. There are numerous instances in which Clinton's desire to score political points before leaving office have ricocheted to his (and the country's) profound disadvantage later."
