Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted June 29, 2002 I elect Chris Jericho vs. The Rock from the Royal Rumble. Awesome f'n match. I know I'm gonna catch a ton of heat for this one, but I give that match *****. I loved everything that they did from bell to bell, from the trash talk to the finish. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 29, 2002 either undertaker/flair from wrestlemania or rvd vs. eddie in the ladder match from raw.
Guest GenerationNever Report post Posted June 29, 2002 IMO, no match has qualified for match of the year as of yet. However, I've heard good things about RVD/Jericho.
Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Uh...I'm not asking you to play Miss Cleo and tell me what match will be MOTY come December. I'm asking what match has been MOTY thus far. Obviously, there is a MOTY (so far) for 2002 because there had to be one match better than all of the rest. We ARE also halfway into 2002, you know.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Hmmmmmm I'd have to say Kurt Angle v. Edge from Judgement Day. Dreamer- I think we're the only people to love both Taker-Flair and DBS-Flair

Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Guerrero vs. Van Dam: Raw Ladder Match NWA X Title Match (Heard a lot of raves for it)
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted June 29, 2002 The X title match I cannot comment on since I haven't seen. I'd give it to the RVD/Eddie ladder match. The Edge/Angle matches all had too much resting to be MOTY in my view. I think we all know that PWI will end up with Hogan/Rock as MOTY though. Heh.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted June 29, 2002 I haven't seen any PPV's, so my vote goes to the RVD/Eddie ladder match, which I have on tape and occasionally watch. By the way, AustinHHH4Life, I love your bottom sig picture and caption. RVD: ......whoa.
Guest TestKick Report post Posted June 29, 2002 1. Eddie/RVD Ladder Match ****1/2 2. Jericho/Rock Rumble ****1/4 3. Angle/Edge Backlash **** 4. Kidman/Tajiri Velocity **** 5. Angle/Austin Raw ***3/4 6. Jericho/RVD KOTR ***1/2 No other good matches come to mind. Didn't see the X title match, so can't rate that
Guest JaKyL25 Report post Posted June 29, 2002 1.) Kurt Angle vs. Edge, Backlash, ****1/2 2.) Rock vs. Chris Jericho, Royal Rumble, ****1/4 3.) Eddie Guerrero vs. Rob Van Dam, Judgment Day, **** 4.) Kurt Angle vs. Steve Austin, 1/28 RAW, **** 5.) Eddie Guerrero vs. Rob Van Dam, Ladder Match 5/27 RAW, ***3/4 6.) Kurt Angle vs. Edge, Judgment Day, ***3/4 7.) Ric Flair vs. Undertaker, WrestleMania X-8, ***1/2 8.) Royal Rumble match, Royal Rumble, ***1/2 (I guess) 9.) Triple H vs. Chris Jericho, Hell in a Cell, Judgment Day, ***1/4 10.) Ric Flair vs. Vince McMahon, Royal Rumble, *** There were IMO 6 other *** that could have made my cut. Angle vs. Kane & Y2J vs. HHH from Mania, Eddie vs. RVD from Backlash, Austin vs. Flair/Show from Judgment Day, Angle vs. Edge cage match from 5/30 SD!, and Y2J vs. RVD from KotR. I chose Flair vs. McMahon for the last spot because I feel that it completely fulfilled its potential, while the other matches either were lacking something or else the wrong person went over. Just my opinion.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Angle vs. Edge from Backlash, with Rock vs. Jericho from the Rumble and RVD vs. Guerrero in their ladder match in a close second.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted June 29, 2002 Up until a few weeks ago, I had Jericho/Rock from Royal Rumble as the MOTY. Now I can't choose between that match and the RVD/Eddie ladder match. Both are **** in my book, so I can't decide.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted June 29, 2002 1. The Rock v. Chris Jericho, Royal Rumble ****1/4 2. Eddie Guerrero vs. Rob Van Dam, Judgment Day **** 3. Kurt Angle v. Edge, Backlash ***3/4 4. Kurt Angle v. Edge, Judgement Day ***3/5 There are quite a few *** to ***1/2 matches that happened this year (notably the Angle/KAne series that all easily scored *** on free TV almost nightly for awhile there). I'm guessing my list is a bit off, though, as I haven't seen the X Title match. I conjecture that it may be a bit overated due to it coming from an indy promotion but I would be willing to be it's as good as the current #2... Anyway that's just my blasphemous opinion. Keep in mind I haven't watched any RAW.
Guest Prince Paul Report post Posted June 29, 2002 I'd have to say Eddie/RVD RAW ladder match, with Jericho/Rock from RR in second and Angle/Edge at Backlash coming in third.
Guest Brian Report post Posted June 29, 2002 My MOTY is the three-way main event from the ROH show, Daniels vs. Lo-Ki vs. American Dragon. ****1/2 Nothing qualifies yet from WWE, but if I had to give it to one match, it'd probably be the RVD/Guerrero ladder match at ***1/2. A three-way is the NA MOTY? Sad days, we live in. As for WWE, Rock/Jericho, deffinately. I don't think anything else has gotten to ****, aside from Angle/Edge from Backlash. Eddy/RVD was disjointed and so NOT what I would call a great ladder match. Too much big bumps with no substance behind any of it.

Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted June 30, 2002 I dunno what is the MOTY so far, but that ladder match between Eddy and RVD got me the most excited. I was on teh edge of my seat by the end of that match.
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted June 30, 2002 Match of the year goes to Taker v.s. Hogan(lol) just kidding, that's actually the crappiest match of the year, but the moty should go to RVD v. Eddy ladder match.
Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted June 30, 2002 I really don;t know rated it what, but if memory serves correctly jericho/austin from nwo was very good, so i'll go with that. Nothing else was really all that great, anytime rvd is in a gimmick match it will get rave reviews from the smarks, and everytime angle has a descent match you get the same thing. That edge match was terrible, with a few fast spots and false finishes at the end. --Rob
Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted June 30, 2002 For excitement and entertainment, I'd have to go with RVD vs. Eddie, the ladder match...... For technique/brawling/psychology, it's a tie between Rock vs. Jericho from Royal Rumble, and Austin vs. Flair on Raw June 3rd.....

Guest Respect The 'Taker Report post Posted July 1, 2002 IMO, no match has qualified for match of the year as of yet. However, I've heard good things about RVD/Jericho. WHAT! Are you saying Eddie-RVD didn't come CLOSE to even QUALIFYING????? What the HELL do you want those guys to do? DIE? Eh...I agree with Dreamer, Flair/Taker or RVD/Eddie from Raw. This has been the Taker Mark
