Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 30, 2002 So basically what you're saying Vitamin X is that Rock put Jericho over and a combination of the NWO, HHH and Steph buried Jericho. Sounds about right to me. Uhhh ummm.... well you see, it's a little more umm...uhh.. complicated than that... ummm....okay, so I do have a tendency to rant and rave about things people know already. But my point was trying to say how JERICHO not Angle could be the star of the WWF. Or hell use both of them. Yeah yeah.
Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted June 30, 2002 Hmm. I think Madden only marks out for Angle because he's from Pittsburgh...
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 30, 2002 As trues as it is, They'll never push Angle. Because damnit, Triple H needs someone's pants to pull down! ::sigh::
Guest alfdogg Report post Posted June 30, 2002 I'd rather see Kurt just beat UT for the belt than see Jeff Hardy win it tommorrow.
Guest Prince Paul Report post Posted June 30, 2002 So RVD hold down Jericho more than HHH? I'm sure RVD doesn't have the pull that HHH has, and I'm pretty sure RVD doesn't decide wether he gets put over Jericho or not. HHH however, can whisper sweet little nothings in Steph's ear while he's banging her from the back (bastard!), and probably consider his push (no pun intended) complete. Back to Angle. I'm pretty sure he'd give Benoit a good run for the money and what not. And if you put them in an amateur match, then I'd bet the farm on Angle.

I remember Angle being winded and doing tons of stalling in their series which is one of the main reasons I was down on him until after the Austin series that year. As far as worked mat stuff goes, Benoit's far better at it because he's able to make things look much more fluent and make weaker guys better on the mat. Guest jester Report post Posted July 1, 2002 Wonder why no one comments on RVD making Jericho his bitch? I bet RVD has beaten Jericho about as often as HHH. Beat him on two PPVs, a hardcore match on SMDN, a 6 man tag, a tag match (when Jericho was champ no less), and by DQ on Raw in the title match. RVD's girlfriend didn't have Jericho running around for lotion and being left in charge of a dog.

Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 1, 2002 I caught something that came of as self serving. The guy was writing for a Pittsburgh paper and trying to sell a Pittsburgh hero as the savior for pro wrestling. If that's not getting a cheap pop, I don't know what else is. I agree with him that Angle is damn good and the best wrestler in the WWF, but what else is there for him to do? I think he got too much too soon and there was no where to go but down for him. He already has had a run as the top heel (if you count having the belt but being overshadowed by Triple H) and if he gets it again, he will be back where he was before. One thing I disagreed with was the idea that Brock Lesnar should be thrown in there alongside Angle. Angle has been the man, Lesnar hasn't, it's as simple as that. I don't know if I like the idea of mixing "real" athletes with the "fake" athletes because it takes away the shine from the wrestlers. Why bring in a "real" athlete to compete against the WWF superstars? It's like saying that wrestling is fake and we brought in a guy who wrestles for real. That's all fine and good, but what is he going to be doing with the wrestlers? The same "fake" stuff that they do.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 1, 2002 I have NEVER agreed with the "(Insert wrestler here) has gotten everything too soon and there is no where to go but down" theory. Until they reach Rock/Austin/Hogan levels, they can ALWAYS go up, and shoving them into stupid storylines and retarded feuds isn't doing anyone ANY good. Guest caboose Report post Posted July 1, 2002 I believe however there is a point at which a wrestler can now no longer get, in terms of being over and drawing, big enough simply because the way they are booked. There was a time when Jericho could have been the next big thing, this time was probably throughout 2000. He was ready, his character was perfect, he was the underdog who had lots of heart but was talented in the ring. His mic work was good and in the ring he was energetic and sound.(the blown spots really arose in late 2000/early 2001). The WWF could have and perhaps should have built Jericho to take the title from Rocky/Austin/Triple H at WMX-7. But they didn't and this meant Jericho would have ot wait a while longer. But in this wait he was left directionless and his ringwork dropped off slightly. The heel turn was forced, as in his No Mercy match with Rocky, the crowd was split. Jericho then got forced to look inept against Austin, Triple H and others. The biggest mistake was Jericho was playing the underdog while he was Heel. The underdog will and always be a Face character trait. Whatever you chalk it upto, Triple H, Austin, poor booking, it doesn't matter because Jericho's potential is now less than what it was 2 years ago. The closest other example to Jericho is Sting. WCW botched up his career so much, when he could quite possibly have joined Hogan & Austin in status. The point I'm making is theat a wrestler has to be booked carefully throughout a stay in a Wrestling Organisation otherwise they will not fulfill their potential. That is why Angle you will notice, has been put over others (Triple H at RR2001, Hogan last week), every time he has become close to being buried, because Vince knows Angle is the future and he needs to protect Angle. As a result Angle still has the potential to become an all-time great, while Jericho who was not protected will become a nearly-man. And believe me it saddens me to say that about Jericho.
