Live from Greensboro, NC, it's the 2001 WWF Survivor Series!

Commentators: JR & Paul Heyman

---

Dubbed as the "Biggest Night in Sports Entertainment" by JR, the 2001 Survivor Series brings back the 10-Man Tag Team Elimination match as the main event. And of course, it's Team WWF vs. The Alliance.

The show kicks off with a video package of some WWF history and events throughout the Alliance Invasion.

---

WWF European Championship- Christian © vs. Al Snow

This match was made earlier on Heat when Christian and Snow got into a confrontation. Al Snow completely out-wrestles Christian to begin, taking him down and riding on top for a second. He locks in a headlock and rolls him up for two. Pumphandle gets two, and Christian cheapshots him and starts to choke him. Legsweep gets two, and into a chinlock. Snow gets to his feet and charges with a clothesline, but Christian ducks and hits a suplex for two. Christian begins choking him again, until Snow breaks it. Slugfest and Snow manages a clothesline from behind. Superkick for two. Christian charges but meets the turnbuckle, and Snow hits a sit-down powerbomb for two. Christian comes back and is able to hit the dropping reverse DDT. Snow counters into a cradle for two, and he follows up with a Snow Plow. He makes the cover, but Christian gets his foot on the bottom rope. Snow thinks he's won and raises his arms until the referee informs him. Finally, Snow walks right into the Unprettier, giving Christian (and the Alliance) the win, at 6:31. **1/4, good enough opener.

---

Backstage, Steve Austin and Debra arrive in the Alliance's locker room and are questioned by Shane and everyone about possibly defecting back to the WWF later, like Vince McMahon said. Austin assures everyone that he's not and orders everyone out.

---

Vince and Linda McMahon are talking about the risk factor later, saying "Shit happens." Michael Cole approaches, and Vince basically makes a fool out of him. Vince and Linda then run into former WWF Commissioner, but current Alliance Commissioner, William Regal. Regal says that when the Alliance wins tonight, Vince will be humiliated. Well, that ended up being the other way around by the next night... as Vince opened up the "Vince McMahon, Kiss my Ass Club" with Regal as the first member.

---

William Regal vs. Tajiri

Tajiri is labeled as Regal's former protege here. On Smackdown, Regal powerbombed Torrie Wilson and put her in the Regal Stretch. The match begins when Regal approaches, but Tajiri quickly forces him away with a spin kick. Tajiri hits a dropkick to the knees and follows up with more kicks. Regal is able to hit him down with a clothesline, and he sends him to the corner. Regal charges, but Tajiri counters into the Tarantula. Regal Irish whips him, but again countered, this time with the handspring elbow. Regal tries to roughly toss him outside, but Tajiri's head gets caught in between the ropes. Regal heads outside and starts to choke him while stuck. The ref unties Tajiri as Regal re-enters the ring. Double-underhook powerbomb is countered, and Tajiri misses the big kick. This time, Regal hits the powerbomb for the win, at 3: 00. *1/4, not too bad, although it could have been given more time. Regal again powerbombs him and starts to head into the back, when Torrie Wilson runs out. She checks on Tajiri, and Regal comes back to powerbomb her. Bottom line, The Alliance is up 2-0.

Video package for Test-Edge. Test cheaply won the Intercontinental title from Edge weeks before this, and Edge won the US Title from Kurt Angle. WWF Commissioner Mick Foley decided to unify those titles into one with this match.

WWF Intercontinental/WCW US Championship Unification Match- Test (IC © ) vs. Edge (US © )

JR mentions that the winner of this match who has the title will be guarenteed a job no matter what the outcome of the main event. Staredown to begin, and into a lock up. Test shoves him away, but Edge hits a shoulder block for two. Test starts pounding away and attempts a suplex. It's reversed, but Test is still able to nail a clothesline. Test begins to choke him, and they fight to the outside. Test drops Edge right across the guard rail. They head inside, Edge hiptosses him and follows up with a dropkick hitting him outside. Baseball slide, and he stomps away outside. Back inside, Edge hits the swinging neckbreaker for two... no one (how often do you see that?) Test takes control with a lariat and corner clothesline. Choking again, and into a chinlock. Edge escapes, and Test misses with a charge. Dropkick by Edge for two. Test hits the tilt-a-whirl slam for two. They're on the top, and Test throws Edge to the mat. Test seemingly goes for the axehandle, but Edge counters with a dropkick right as he lands. Edge hits a bulldog for two, and Test comes back. He attempts his pumphandle slam, but it's smoothly reversed into the Edge-o-Matic for two. Test spears him for two, and he signals for the Big Boot. He goes for it, but Edge ducks it, but Test still nails the pumphandle for two. Edgecution is blocked, and Test goes for the full-nelson slam, but that's reversed into a roll-up, and Edge gets the win to unify the titles, at 11:17. Great match... ***1/4.

Backstage, Stephanie is worried about Austin defecting later. Kurt Angle comes and calms her down.

Jeff Hardy and Lita are talking about how Matt has been acting strange. Matt comes out of a room and denies it all. Matt & Jeff leave for their match, when Trish Stratus comes out of the room where Matt came from, bumping into Lita. This furthers the fact that Lita suspects that Matt is cheating on her.

WWF/WCW Tag Team Championship Unification Match: Steel Cage Match- Dudley Boyz (WWF © ) vs. Hardy Boyz (WCW © )

Odd match to begin with, as this is the first Tag Team Cage match I've seen where Tag Team rules are still enforced. You can win by pinfall or when both members of a team escape. In my opinion, the pinfall rule ruins the concept of cage matches. For some reason, the two teams come down with the wrong titles. The Dudleys are the WWF champs, but they have WCW titles. Howard Finkel even announces the Dudleys as WWF champions. Hardys screw up too. Anyway, the match begins with Matt and Bubba Ray. Matt manages a clothesline, and tags in Jeff. Jeff goes off the ropes but gets sidewalk slammed by Bubba. D-Von comes in, only to be dropkicked. The Hardys try to double-team him. Matt comes back in and backslides D-Von for two. D-Von comes back with a suplex for two. He sends Matt into his corner to be double-teamed. Bubba comes in and hits a neckbreaker for two. Both Dudleys continue to work over Matt, until he manages a DDT on Bubba. He makes the tag to Jeff, and they hit Poetry in Motion on both Bubba and D-Von. Finally, the original tag team rules have been tossed, and now it's tornado style. Both Hardys decide to climb. D-Von goes after Matt, while Bubba goes after Jeff. Matt manages to legsweep D-Von off the side of the cage, but Jeff isn't so lucky, getting Bubba-Bombed all the way down to the mat! Bubba tries to climb, but gets slammed off by Matt. Dudleys throw both Matt and Jeff face first into the cage a few times. They then proceed to double-flapjack Matt into the cage once again. They try the same on Jeff, but he counters by grabbing hold of the cage and trying to make it out. Bubba stops him, putting him in position for the Dudley Device! They score with it, and follow up with a reverse 3D, for two, as Matt makes the save. This is all Dudleys, as they continue the assault by throwing both Hardys into the cage a few times again. Bubba and D-Von both go to the top. D-Von misses a headbutt, and Bubba misses the senton bomb (of course). Matt heads up top and nails both of them with a flying clothesline! The Hardys throw Bubba into the cage, and Matt then neckbreakers D-Von for two. DDT on Bubba for two. They whip Bubba off the ropes and hit a double back toss. Both Hardys go up top and nail their leg drops for two, as D-Von saves. Matt tries to climb out, but the Dudleys stop him, and Matt falls back, getting his foot caught on top. With Matt hanging from the cage, the Dudleys hit the Wazzup headbutt on Jeff. Bubba then tells Stacy to get the tables! Stacy starts flirting with Nick Patrick, who holds the door key, outside. She grabs the key and sends the table in. The door is once again locked afterwards. The Hardys counter a 3D, which would have gone through the table. Matt is able to escape the cage, as Jeff fights off both Dudleys inside. Jeff seems to be handling everything inside. He takes out the Dudleys and starts climbing. D-Von decides to take a rest by laying on the table on his own. Matt waves Jeff out when he gets to the top, but rather than win the match and become the Unified Tag champs, Jeff goes for the Swanton Bomb on D-Von... but he misses! Jeff goes crashing through the table, and D-Von gets the pin, at 15:42. The Dudleys are the unified tag champions. Match was pretty good, although dull at some points early on. ***. Jeff does a stretcher job afterwards, with Matt & Lita looking on.

At WWF New York, Mick Foley basically says that the WWF Commissioner job, is nothing but a joke.

Scotty 2 Hotty is getting ready for the Battle Royal, when Test approaches. Test takes him out, and steals his spot in the match.

Immunity Battle Royal

Featuring... Lance Storm, Justin Credible, The Hurricane, Test, Raven, DDP, Steven Richards, Tommy Dreamer, Billy Kidman, Shawn Stasiak, Hugh Morrus, Chavo Guerrero, Tazz, Faarooq, Bradshaw, Albert, Perry Saturn, Billy Gunn, Chuck Palumbo, Crash Holly, Funaki, and Spike Dudley

The Alliance and WWF guys are separated when they get in. Shawn Stasiak immediately charges, but gets dumped right away. Average Battle Royal, with constant eliminations. Here's all the ones I'm able to point out. The Hurricane heads up top, only to be hit down by Faarooq, and clotheslined out by Bradshaw. Albert gorilla presses Saturn out. DDP poses after nearly eliminating Kidman, but gets thrown out by Palumbo. Test hits Faarooq out. In the middle, Chavo Guerrero & Hugh Morrus, two free agents, run out and toss Raven. Then, another free agent, Tazz comes out. Tazz choked out Paul Heyman on Smackdown. Both Hugh Morrus & Chavo get tossed by Billy Gunn. Spike is thrown over by Test, and then Tazz proceeds to eliminate Crash and Dreamer right in front of JR & Paul Heyman. Tazz decides to taunt Heyman, so Billy Gunn throws him out. Most of the remaining guys team up to throw Albert out, and Bradshaw hits Kidman out. The final four are Billy Gunn, Bradshaw, Test, & Lance Storm. They pair off. Bradshaw and Storm fight on one side, while Test and Gunn fight on the other. Test throws him over, but Gunn hangs on. Test runs over and throws both Bradshaw and Storm out at the same time, and Gunn comes back in. He misses a Fame-Asser and gets Big Booted out, giving Test the win at 7:41. Average Battle Royal... 1/4* just for effort. The main downside to this is that it totally spoils the main event, if there was any doubt as to who would win. Bottom line, Test has earned a job no matter what, becoming immune for one year.

Backstage, Booker T tells Shane McMahon that he doesn't trust Austin. Shane, however, does trust him.

One of Creed's "WWF Desire" videos is shown.

WWF Women's Championship: Six-Pack Challenge- Trish Stratus vs. Jacqueline vs. Lita vs. Ivory vs. Mighty Molly vs. Jazz

This is for the vacant Women's Title, after Chyna left in May-June. Jazz is the Mystery Woman here. She comes in last, but runs in to immediately start the match with Lita. Lita headscissors her, and Molly and Jacqueline are tagged in. Molly goes for a test of strength, but gets chopped. Jacqueline hip tosses her and follows up with a dropkick. Ivory is tagged in. Jacqueline sunset flips her for two. Trish comes in, and she slingshots Ivory onto the ropes. Everyone comes in, and the WWF women take control of the Alliance women. Lita and Jacqueline hit Poetry in Motion on Jazz, and try it on Ivory, but Jacqueline gets smart and clotheslines Lita out. They fight outside, leave Ivory and Trish. Trish hits the Stratusfaction Bulldog, to become Women's Champion, at 4:22. *

Backstage, Vince gets his team of Big Show, Kane, Undertaker, Chris Jericho, & The Rock (who just can't sit still) ready, reminding them of the WWF's former greats.

---

Video package for the main event. Vince & Linda reunited and decided to challenge Shane & Steph to the match with the Winner Take All stipulations. Other than that, nothing else that wasn't seen throughout the entire Invasion angle.

Winner Take All: Survivor Series Elimination Match- Team WWF: The Rock, Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Kane, & Big Show vs. The Alliance: Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, & Shane McMahon

Originally, Vince was supposed to wrestle, but he gave away his spot to Big Show after he saw him dismantle a bunch of Alliance jobbers in the ring. Two other issues to be discussed here are firstly, Rock and Jericho have been having problems before the PPV. They fought at No Mercy, and as JR basically explains, the feud's between both of their egos. Secondly, Vince McMahon claimed that Austin would defect back to the WWF tonight. On Smackdown, Austin, in frustration, gave Kurt Angle a Stunner, and smiled at Vince. On to the match...

As soon as both teams are in the ring, Austin and The Rock go at it. They engage in a slugfest, and Austin gets the upper hand. He hits a Lou Thesz Press early, and then flips off the crowd and Team WWF before hitting the elbow, for two. Rock gains control and also hits the Lou Thesz Press, and he also decides to flip off The Alliance and hit the exact same elbow. Austin manages to tag in Booker T. Booker pounds away, but Rock takes him down with a clothesline. He then makes the tag to Chris Jericho. Jericho hits a flapjack, and Booker makes the tag to RVD. RVD and Jericho go at it for a second. Jericho's tossed into the corner. RVD does a standing back flip, and goes for the hurricanrana, but it's countered into the Walls! Shane runs in to make the save, though. RVD tags in Booker, but meanwhile, Jericho tags in Kane. Booker backs off and tags Angle. Kane manhandles Kurt hitting a few clotheslines. Angle hits a German suplex, but Kane sits up. He regains control with a sideslam, and he goes up top, hitting him with the flying lariat. Kane covers, but Shane again makes the save. Kane tags in Undertaker. Undertaker fights off Angle for a second, until Booker comes back. Taker maintains control by hitting a leg drop for two, but for the third time, Shane saves. Taker goes old school with the rope walk. He continues to work Booker's arm, getting an armbar and lifting him high up. He tosses him to the ground and hits a leg drop onto the arm. Clothesline gets two, as Shane saves... again. Austin is tagged back in, and he gives Taker a mudhole stomping. Choking, followed by a clothesline. Taker regains control, hitting the rope walk on Austin, too. Two count, as Shane makes the save. Austin tags Angle back in. Angle quickly hits a swinging neckbreaker for two. He picks him up, but Taker hits a DDT, and hot tags Big Show in! Show easily takes Angle down, and RVD comes in. Show manhandles RVD, choking him in the corner, and he follows up with a gorilla press. Angle comes back in. Show cleans house with the Alliance, and he goes for the chokeslam on Angle. It's countered into an Angle Slam, and Booker comes in. Booker hits the Scissor Kick, and does the Spinerooni! RVD immediately comes in, hitting the Five-Star, and Shane is finally tagged in. Shane hits the Shane-o-Mac Flying Elbow, and he eliminates Big Show, at 12:41. That gives the Alliance the one man advantage, at 5-4. Shane gets cocky, so he starts doing a little jig. Look at him go! Rock comes in, and starts zeroing in on him. Shane walks right into a whooping. Now that Rock has had his share, he tags Kane, who gives Shane the Chokeslam from Hell! Undertaker gets the tag, and he hits the Tombstone! Taker tags Jericho, who finishes Shane off with the Lionsault, at 14:30. It's once again even. Angle comes in to fight with Jericho. Jericho takes control with a flying forearm and double-underhook backbreaker for two. Booker comes in and gets two scoop slams. He hits a knee drop for two. RVD then comes back in, getting a few kicks in. He sunset flips Jericho for two. Kane comes in. RVD goes for the jab, but Kane catches it and crushes RVD's hand! RVD counters with a kick to the head. He goes off the ropes, only to get clotheslined. RVD keeps control, as he hits the Five-Star! But when RVD goes for the cover, Kane grabs his throat, setting him up for the chokeslam. Booker makes the save with the Harlem sidekick! Everyone comes in to brawl. They all fight outside, leaving Kane and RVD in. RVD comes off the ropes with a kick, to eliminate Kane, at 18:19. Undertaker comes back in, beating the hell out of RVD. Kurt Angle comes in to try and double-team, but to no avail. Soon, the four Alliance members are in there with Taker. Taker keeps control, sending all four into the corners. He then proceeds to nail each with a charging clothesline! He sends both Booker and RVD outside. He gives Angle the Last Ride as Booker comes in with a chair. Taker kicks Booker away, only to walk into a Stone Cold Stunner! Austin drapes Angle over him, eliminating Taker, at 20: 01! The Alliance has the two-man advantage, 4-2. Jericho is out on the floor, so Rock comes in, fighting against Booker T. Booker pounds away, but Rock makes a comeback. He misses a clothesline, and Booker lays him out with a beautiful heel kick! Only two. Rock reverses an Irish whip into a Samoan Drop, for two. Booker accidentally collides with Kurt Angle, and Rock rolls him up to eliminate him, at 22:33. RVD comes back in, getting shots in with both his hands and feet. He goes up top, only to be powerbombed right off for two. Rock tags in Jericho, and he hits the flying forearm and a neckbreaker for two. He hits the bulldog, but misses a Lionsault. RVD hits a leg lariat. He goes to the corner attempts a split-legged moonsault. Jericho gets his knees up, and he follows up with the Breakdown! Jericho covers RVD to eliminate him, at 24:50. Oh well, either way, RVD has a job since he's Hardcore Champion. It's even again, with 2-2. A brawl erupts between Austin and Rock outside. Austin catapults him right into the post, as Angle works on Jericho inside. Austin is tagged in, and he hits a superplex for two. Elbow drops get two. Angle comes back. He goes for a belly-to-belly, but it's reversed into the Ankle Lock! Angle easily counters and hits a clothesline. Austin is tagged back in. Austin hits a suplex and elbow for two. He starts to choke away, as Angle gets some shots in. Angle officially comes in, and they engage in a slugfest! Jericho wins, and they double clothesline each other. Jericho makes the hot tag to Rock! Rock throws Angle around, and he locks in the Sharpshooter! Angle immediately taps out, at 31:50. The WWF is up one guy, 2-1. Jericho tags himself in. Austin gets some shots in before attempting the Thesz Press. It's reversed into the Walls! Austin reverses it, trying to lock in his own Walls. Jericho easily counters. Austin goes up top, only to be dropkicked. Jericho misses a Lionsault, and Austin gets two. Jericho goes up and hits a missile dropkick for two. Jericho rolls him up for two, but Austin uses his momentum to reverse it and get the pin, at 34:32. It's down to Rock and Austin! Jericho is pissed off. Rock immediately comes in, and he quickly hits a spinebuster! It could be the People's Elbow... but Jericho, apparently in frustration, attacks Rock, giving him the Breakdown! Jericho starts walking back, as Austin crawls on top of Rock, only to get two! Jericho starts to walk back for more of Rock, but Undertaker runs out and prevents him from going any further. Undertaker forces Jericho into the back, as Austin and Rock bring the fight ringside. Austin gets tossed across the Spanish announce table, but he makes a comeback by throwing Rock once again into the ringpost. They head back in, and Austin locks the Sharpshooter in! Rock is able to get the ropes. Austin gets a few shots in, before heading outside and grabbing the WWF Championship. He goes inside and misses a shot, getting caught in Rock's Sharpshooter! He gets to the ropes, and he follows up with a low blow! Austin charges, but walks right into a Stunner from Rock! Rock makes the cover, and referee Earl Hebner counts. Suddenly, before he can get three, Nick Patrick pulls him out and KOs him. Patrick takes over the match. Austin regains control, hitting a Rock Bottom! Patrick counts, but it's only two! Austin is pissed off, so he punches Patrick out and brings Hebner back in. Rock gets up, and after an Irish whip reversal sequence, Hebner is again KOed. Austin manages to hit a Stunner, but there's no one to count. Suddenly, Kurt Angle runs back out, grabbing the title belt, and he goes in, only to nail Austin from behind, apparently coming back to the WWF. Austin stumbles into a Rock Bottom, and Rock makes the cover, getting the win and becoming the sole-survivor, at 44:58! Backstage, we see the WWF locker room celebrating, and the Alliance, well, not celebrating. Steph is crying her eyes out. The match was long, but for me, I couldn't tell, because I really enjoyed the match. I was always a fan of the Survivor Series Elimination matches. This one included some great action along with some good drama. I give it ****1/2. The show ends as Vince McMahon raises his arms in victory, on the stage as Rock looks on.

--- --- --- --- --- ---

The next night, Kurt Angle would once again be a full-time heel, along with Vince McMahon, who thinks he's the sole-owner of the WWF... only to find out that a returning Ric Flair has 50% control. Right after, Austin even turns face again. As for all the other "unemployed" Alliance guys, they all gradually made their way back to WWF TV.

I never really saw any of the feedback this show got last year on the internet, but I actually enjoyed it, especially the Main Event. It may be long, but it's a great throwback to the original Survivor Series PPVs. Everything else on the show was watchable, and the bad things (like the Women's Match) were kept short. Some people may not agree with me, but for this show, I say... Recommended
