Guest Kinetic Posted July 1, 2002 Report Posted July 1, 2002 <<I mark for: Britney, Spice Girls, Kylie, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Daft Punk, Radiohead, DDR, The Beatles, The Verve, Journey, Groove, RVD, YATTA~!, Kurt Vonnegut, Doonesbury, and all Trance.>> That's a pretty eclectic group, many of which I like and a few of which I'm willing to forgive. However, I demand that you explain your fondness for Journey. They've always struck me as perhaps the lowest level of pap imaginable.
Guest Incandenza Posted July 1, 2002 Report Posted July 1, 2002 I'll admit to enjoying Journey's "Seperate Ways" and its ultra-stupid video. A total guilty pleasure to be sure, but I could do without everything else they've done...with the possible exception of that song from the end of Caddyshack. I can't forgive his Spice Girls markdom, though. That's criminal.
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 1, 2002 Report Posted July 1, 2002 Hey. I have a friend who's two favorite groups are Pantera & The Spice Girls. Spice Girls are a phenomenon, my friend.
Guest Kinetic Posted July 1, 2002 Report Posted July 1, 2002 Yeah, that "Seperate Ways" video is a work of art. That, to me, is funnier than anything "Weird" Al has ever done, simply because it's totally sincere and still hilarious. That's not a recommendation in any way, however. Irony isn't enough to make me not wish that that video, song, and band had never existed.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 1, 2002 Report Posted July 1, 2002 Wait, wait wait, what's so bad about the Spice Girls? They're no different than any other pop group... plus Victoria Beckam aka Posh Spice was pretty hot. Not to mention that Sporty's solo tracks are pretty good as well. Also, there's nothing really wrong with Journey, even though there's nothing fundamentally right with them either. They're nothing special to me but they are from the Bay Area (I think, or at least Cali) and thus fall under the "Cali luv" category from me, if nothing else. As for the rest of his entries, DDR r0x0rs! What are your favorite DDR songs? My top 3 are "Shooting Star", the "Neverending Story" renux, "Midnight Shadow", but I also have a forced fondness for that remix of "The Twist" from DDR 5th mix because I was playing it with some friends and that was the only song she was good at, so we played it for like an hour straight, at least... it's not a bad song, I just hate those "dance mixes" of songs where they throw in some lame new rap or vocals in the middle. It might be fun to dance to at the time, but it totally ruins the integrity of the original song.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted July 2, 2002 Report Posted July 2, 2002 I love Journey. Love them. Poppy, happy, rockin love ballads at their finest. You could do a lot worse then mark out for Journey.

Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted July 2, 2002 Report Posted July 2, 2002 Back in the day Journey used to be just instrumentals... They were good then.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I'll admit to enjoying Journey's "Seperate Ways" and its ultra-stupid video. Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 What happened in the "Separate Ways" video? I've never seen that one, and it's not on KaZaA.
Guest Kinetic Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 What happened in the "Separate Ways" video? I've never seen that one, and it's not on KaZaA. They walk around a dock, play their instruments on said dock, and basically look like a bunch of ugly rock stars who decided to record a video with no budget. Steve Perry gets all emotional in some close-ups that are decidedly a bit too close, given his complete lack of rock star good looks.
Guest Kinetic Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 lets not forget the air keyboard Who could forget that? So it's basically the worst video ever made, with the possible exception of that Billy Squier thing where he's dancing around in his room. I think it was Billy Squier. Either way. Terrible, terrible videos.
Guest Incandenza Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 The "Seperate Ways" video is a reminder of a time when rock stars could look like your uncle, yet still be "cool."
