Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Thoughts: If you think Flair was booked to look good during the 80s, you you very misinformed. Flair was booked to look so weak that it caused the NWA to sell to Turner. The problem with Angle is that he is a goof, and if you read Foley's book you know that goofs are never top guys. It doesn't matter if you wrestle a **** match if your head is shaved at the end of the day. Once people get a certain image of a guy in their minds, it's hard to overcome it. Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted July 2, 2002 This is getting kind of stupid. Really. "And leading up to the title match, Angle should just mow down anything in his path. " No. HELL no. Plowing through everybody else just makes them look worthless. By that, it sounds like you don't want Kurt Angle. You want Hulk Hogan or Steve Austin. We've had enough "invincible" faces and heels. Kurt Angle shouldn't be like HHH..who did mow down anything in his path. The way they're going with him, it seems like he should be more of a cocky bastard who can hold his own in the ring. He made Hogan tap. He beat Cena with one move. He had the Undertaker in the anklelock and let him go. Why? To show he could strike anytime, anywhere. I'll give you this. Angle is good. He's not god, though. It's never been tested for any length of time that he can do a serious character. His promos resort to cheap heat a lot of times. He dosen't quite have the commanding ring presence that some others do. He does his moves, and that's it. Not much of a story. Oh, he does them well..that counts. Give up on the "invincible Angle" idea. It's never going to happen. It should not happen. As much as Angle was pushed when he got into the WWF..(a real god push if I've ever seen one)..not that many people bitched. Why? Because it was Kurt Angle? He's no better than anybody that's ever been on the recieving end of a god push. He may be more "talented", but he's still right up there with all the others. He should have to make other people look good. He should have to job. Once people start not jobbing, look what happens. Look at ninety percent of Hogan's career. Look at Austin. -Shiro
Guest SuperTonyJaymz Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Anglesault, you are acting like a total mark. Sometimes I wish we would all go back to being marks...be more enjoying that way... anyways, from what I can tell, AS wants AngleBerg. A complete monster that squashes every single person on the roster in less then a minute. Sell? Fuck that, he's AngleBerg! AngleBerg sells for no one! or is it The Hollywood Ultimate Angleberg?
Guest M Nyland Report post Posted July 2, 2002 or is it The Hollywood Ultimate Angleberg? i can see that now..... hulk up, finger point, finger wag, stupid saying about wisdom, three punches, spear, bodyslam, leg drop, rope shake/seizure, big splash, jackhammer, Olympic Slam..............and the Anklelock for the submission victory! Guest SuperTonyJaymz Report post Posted July 2, 2002 If AS reads that, he'll wet himself in glee
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 2, 2002 I mean he shouldn't be made to look like an inept fool who can't beat bob Holly. If he can't beat Bob Holly, how will he beat Undertaker? Just say that the Cena match never happened on Thursday. What would be the harm in Angle annihilating Mark Henry? Maybe the week before that, have him flatten Faarooq. Test. Val Venis. All clean. If someone actually looks like they might have a future, of course, don't run them over. But don't put them up against Angle until after he's won the belt. If he looks credible, the match will have more heat. If he can't beat Funaki without cheating, his challenge will be a joke.

Guest Some Guy Report post Posted July 2, 2002 The difference between Flair and Angle's pushes is HHH. But not how you think. HHH changed the way a non-7', 300lb heel is pushed in WWF. He never lost and and rarely was made to look foolish and always won with his finish whether he cheated or not. That got him and his finisher over. Angle rarely goes over clean with his finish and is made to look silly all the time, which Flair seldom was. Flair was still the "Nature Boy" all the time, he was the Rock of the 80s, just the coolest guy around. Angle's character keeps showing aggresion and then reverting back to the Edga, Christian, and Angle day. It's always one step forward 2 steps back. HHH always took steps forward and when he took one back he came back and quickly reclaimed his spot. In the 80s it was common place for the faces to dominate the heels, HHH changed that and it isn't going back. Fans didn't take Jericho as a threat even during his title reign because he never won clean and never one with his finish, it's the same for Angle.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted July 2, 2002 What's the point? Test/Val/etc are basically jobbers. We KNOW he can beat them. It'd just make him like Goldberg/Austin to run through the midcard. *yawn* I'd take a well-booked feud instead, thank you. -Shiro
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 2, 2002 But he is still put up against them (Holly, Maven last month) So I think when it DOES happen, he should win, clean. Is that too much to ask? Make the man look competant?
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Well..putting on the WWE logic glasses.. Even though Kurt was WWE made..Maven and Holly are still WWE boys. That much is obvious. They'll get booked better than most other people. -Shiro

Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted July 2, 2002 You're telling me? I'm not the "billionare" wrestling promoter, so I guess I don't know crap. However..Maven's protected until Tough Enough wears off. Holly is just their boy. God alone knows why. -Shiro

You mean someone like John Cena, who Angle didn't run over because WWE thinks has a future? If the match was for the title, you'd be ballistic right now. Angle IS credible, which is why Cena got the pops that he did. Dames

It's not like he's ever been a jobber or made to pretend that he was a racecar driver or anything. It's not like Holly and Maven are former World champions liike Angle is. Guest Prince Paul Report post Posted July 2, 2002 The biggest problem that I saw with last weeks smackdown match was that Cena is a ROOKIE. So to a mark, this is one of Cena's first matches, EVER. Follow me that far? Good. So here in Cena's 1st ever match (according to a mark) and what does he do? Almost beats a 2 time former WWE champion, IC Champ, Euro and Hardcore champ, as well as a KOTR, in his 1st ever match. The guy just made HOGAN tap days earlier. If they want to push Kurt, he should be badass Kurt, who mows through everyone, shows no remorse and isn't made to look like HHH's little thong boy week in and week out. I know so many MARKS, who say the only reason they watch Smackdown is because of ANGLE, and by his treatment, they think management doesn't even like him. They could have made Cena look strong without Cena nearly dominating the whole match.
