summer of RVD

Recommended Posts

Guest humongous2002

We as fans have been fooled so many times when the WWE makes pretend that they are finally pushing one of our favorite wrestlers to main event status. They did it with Y2J and when he got the belt he was made to look like a weak champ, they did it with Tazz when he first entered the WWF but he got beaten by an ex wrestler/announcer(Lawler) and becoming a punching bag for Austin, they did it with Benoit everytime the writers used a Dusty finish when he won the WWF title(fully loaded 2000).It seems that they are finally going to give RVD the push he deserves by making him beat Brock for a chance to main event Summerslam, and probably become WWE champion, or are they going to pull the rug underneath us and make him job to Lesnar again at Vengeance?

I'm just hoping this is truly the summer of RVD because I'm already tired of seeing the same guys main eventing over and over. WWE should finally give the ball for somebody new to carry it, give him a great push and turn RVD into a legend like Austin, HBK, Rock, Flair and so many others.

I hope so. God, I hope so.

If 'Taker remains the champ and a heel, or the tweening "I'm a heel but I'll respect the youngin's", then R-V-D's got a shot. If Taker drops the belt to Angle, which I don't think he will, then Angle MIGHT, MIGHT get R-V-D. If Taker drops the belt to Rock, there's no way it'll happen.

Summer of RVD, Vince! Pleeeeease?

Well, to keep it simple, I'd much rather have the "Summer of RVD" than the Summer of Brock. Lesnar hasn't quite perfected his craft yet, and I think is being overpushed and overexposed too early. RVD is much more over at this point, and he would be a better choice for the promotion's "Ace".

if RVD gets any more over he will have to start:

1) raising eyebrows

2) posing and spitting water

3) riding a bike to the ring

4) shaving his head

5) giving Vince the finger

or

6) holding others down

Or he can be a SWANK~! Main Eventer and give the WW_ fans something to CARE ABOUT!

I think it'd be good for RVD to get it. Not just because I'm an RVD mark, but that's what I seriously believe.

He's over, his matches are exciting, and people care about him. Put him up to the Main Event, or I'm starting a riot if they blow THIS oppertunity.

Probably not. The WWF has apparently decided that it will be the summer of Edge, Kane, Beniot, and Lesnar. RVD probably won't be main eventing a major PPV unless someone gets hurt.

i hope rvd gets the big push this summer. he has proven himself time and time again and with the exception of angle, no one is better suited to carry that belt right now.

I was thinking when RVD was challenged by Heyman that they would put Brock's SummerSlam title shot on the line... and I was thinking that it would be better to have RVD in the ME at summerslam than Brock...

But what does that do to the Brock Monster Push? Would he lose to RVD? Would the match end in a Screw Job... giving Vince a reason to make the match a 3-Way Dance? This way RVD and the champ can carry most of the match to take pressure off Brock (if he doesn't have his psychology down yet) and who ever wins the match can do so without beating Brock... that way he gets to keep his heat from being undefeated... If they need to they can pull the ripcord on his Heyman feud by having Heyman accidentally cost him the match, and turn him face by the end of the summer.

I just don't see RVD getting to the title without going over, around or through Brock... but I don't see Brock going anywhere if he loses a match any time soon. But I also don't see Brock winning the title at SummerSlam.

Geez.. the WWE has put itself in a corner with this one.

Maybe they'll just get the belt on Jericho so we can have an AWESOME Jericho vs RVD Ladder match to ME SummerSlam.

Or maybe (in my dream world) it will headline the next WrestleMania, which will conveniently be held at MSG so I can go see it live. :-)

Well you can't see Wrestlemania, but you can see Survivor Series which Meltzer reported as being at MSG! See you there!

Well, it may be the fall of RVD. It looks like Rock is next in line to get the strap, so he can drop it to Brock at SummerSlam and then run off to film his next action-adventure film. Who do you think will be one of Brock's first challengers? That's if HHH doesn't get to him first...

I don't think the WWE is dumb enough to do that... RVD IS the top face on Raw (Booker T. right behind him).

The LOGICAL thing to do is a 2/3 Falls Match... one for the SS Title shot and the other for the IC Title like EPD suggested. I don't think the WWE would be dumb enough to have Brock win BOTH of those. Heyman could help Brock win the IC Title, but as RVD is about to win the SS Title shot he goes to help Brock.. screws it up, bam.. RVD is in the ME at SS. The best match for the main event? RVD-UT. It has a history. Hell... RVD-Angle wouldn't be bad, but they'd have to build it up.

If Rock wins the title at SS, then yes.. Brock will beat RVD. That's pretty simple. Because, then as you said.. Rock will give Brock the rub and the title, and then we'll have a shitty summer of Lesnar. The first challengers won't be HHH either... I suspect him to feud with the nWold when he returns.

But to the topic... is this summer of RVD? Hopefully so. During the KotR 2002 opening Robbie said, "This is gonna be a helluva summer for... Rob... Van... Dam." I hope it will. I really do, but only TIME will tell.

They have to scale back Brock's push before he gets a major backlash. There are ways to keep him in the mix without having him main event SS. I'd have him get into it with the Rock and then the Rock costs him the #1 contender spot against RVD. Thus, there can be RVD/UT (with UT as a tweener who beats the shit out of people but gives respect when it is due) and Brock/Rock (non title) at SS.

This accomplishes numerous things. 1. RVD can get a big win over UT, thus blowing off that feud and UT can turn face by shaking RVD's hand after the match. 2. Brock can beat the Rock and get some cred, but not worry about the title just yet (and no backlash either). 3. It puts RVD in a position to have some excellent matches with the SMDN talent and perhaps he could wrestle some cruisers.

I don't think Rob's big push is coming until the fall. If Rock wins the strap from UT at Vengeance (presuming Angle doesn't win it before then), then Brock goes over RVD to face the Rock at SS. If Angle wins the strap, though, RVD is a better choice to oppose him, since you avoid the heel vs heel match that Brock vs Kurt would be.

Basically, it looks like the summer of RVD depends greatly on what happens with Angle and Rock.

Well I hope Rocky doesn't win the title at Vengeance, because it devalues the WWE belt again by getting another title switch. WWE has to keep the belt on Mean Mark till Summerslam so anyone who pins him will be automatically elevated to main event status without any doubts. Rocky winning and loosing the belt on the next ppv makes him look weak and whoever wins the belt from him, either RVD or Brock weak too, and it would be too obvious since all the fans know that Rock will have another leave of absence after SS. I assume the main event for Summerslam will be UT v. Brock/UT v. RVD or a three way dance between UT /Brock/RVD.

I personally don't give a shit about RVD and would rather see Booker get the strap, BUT, it looks like Booker's going to be stuck in the dead end NWOld feud for a while. Sigh....

As crazy as this sounds I thought of a good way to turn RVD heel and have him pushed higher. Lately UT has been shaking the young guys's hands right? Ok, RVD can finally beat the Taker (title or non title, doesn't matter) and then UT goes to shake his hand and says how much he respects RVD. RVD can then refuse the handshake and say "Not only do I not respect you, I think you're a piece of shit!" Heh, it would be a redo of the Sabu/RVD angle. It would also make sense.

as long as he doesnt start shooting people and writing Ultimate Warrior-esque letters to police and news people, a Summer of RVD sounds just fine
