Overrated:

 

1. Booker T - He hasn't had a good match since the Best of 7 and the only reason that he was a 5-time WCW champ is that WCW needed a minority wrestler to put the strap on. He's not THAT GOOD!

2. HHH - The "Cerebral Assassin" moniker apparently applies to his work in production meetings and not in the ring.

3. Kanyon - Hasn't innovated a damn thing since 1998.

4. Ric Flair - Same damn match for 20+ years. No offense to Naitch...the formula worked very well for him, but it's still the same damn match!

5. Saturn - How come the other "Vanilla Midgets" have made it and he hasn't if he's so damn good??

6. Albert - He's not a hoss...he's just fat, hairy, ugly and uncharismatic.

7. Hulk Hogan - Why anyone pops for the Goblin is beyond me.

8. Rev. D-Von Dudley - Future main eventer, my ass.

9. William Regal - Okay, he's got fantastic mat wrestling skills. Great. But he still slaps a sleeper hold on the crowd every time he goes out there.

10. Stone Cold Steve Austin - He was in quite the slump as far as match quality goes before he walked out. Maybe if he had stayed, he and HHH could have had a contest to see who would win "The 2002 Award for the Wrestler Who Was A God Last Year But Can't Have A Match Over *** This Year".

I never said saturn should main event, he's not the best worker ever, just my favourite. But he's a great tag wrestler and great hardcore wrestler. Two things they don't have in abundance. USE HIM!

 

for underrated guys in general i would say saturn, bam bam bigelow, christian, bubba ray and big show. For his size, he's really not all that bad. The only problem is his insane salary and main event pushes.

I wouldn't call Booker overrated but Test is a lot better than Smarks give him credit for being.

 

As for most overrated...I wouldn't put Hogan up there, because NO ONE thinks he's good right now as far as wrestling goes. When his in-ring flaws are actually highlights in promos, that's a sign that the WWE's not too high on him when it comes to *workrate*. I would say that HHH, Bradshaw, Billy Gunn, Brock and Rico (he's not bad, but I don't see what's so special about him).

 

For most underrated...

 

Albert (I don't have a problem with his in-ring work. If they actually gave the man a decent character he'd go places)

 

X-Pac (When he's on his game he's capable of 5 star matches)

 

William Regal (Should stay away from that "WWE style" though)

 

Undertaker (I've never seen too much wrong with his selling. I mean, in real life, would you expect a 6'9 303-330 pound man flopping around after a punch? And he's done a good job at putting younger talent over as of late. And he may be a little old, but the man works his ass off to keep up with the younger guys. He's no Benoit, but give him credit)

 

Kane (WWE's best big man, IMO)

 

And I agree with O.J. Stacey's legs are kinda overrated (I'm more of a breast man).

Just a few thoughts:

Actually i remember his matches with Rock and Angle being good, numerous WCW matches against Jarrett,Storm etc. being good.

Be fair, he's only been having the same match for the last 8 or so years. He is also the greatest wrestler ever and has had more ***** matches than any other american wrestler, so hes not really overated is he?

So , Austin/HHH are overated coz they havnt been having *** matches right? Yet Test is underated even though he has only reached *** matches if he is carried all the way.

Even though I like him, I think Christian is pretty overrated. He's all restholds, variations of the inverted DDT, and the Unprettier.

 

As far as the whole Test/Austin/HHH comparison from the last post, it takes 2 guys to make a good to great match and aside from HHH's mini run with Angle, they've all had shitty opponents(although part of HHH's problem is that he IS way too big at the moment). This is NOT saying Test should be pushed to the moon or anything because he shouldn't, BUT he does get a bad rep on here because people think he gets a new push every month when that's not even close to the case. When he gets a Brockberg-level push and isn't over(and no, the IC title and tag title wins weren't pushes, he and Booker were just being set up as Alliance jobbers), THEN start bitching. If you don't like the guy, that's cool, it's your opinion, but all these conspiracy theories are getting tiresome.

 

Oh, and on Booker, I think he had some pretty good stuff when he first came in with Angle and Jericho, but the Best of 7 series WAS his last great series of matches as sad as it is for me to say. I'd like to see him mix it up with Eddy and Benoit on RAW or maybe even some of the more atheletic Smackdown wrestlers to see if he still can go.

I do think HHH is over-rated (this year) because they hyped the shit out of his return and he has not delivered anything worthy of what anyone would consider that above average quality you need to be a main-eventer...

 

and I think Kanyon will being to show his good side now that DDP is gone from sight....Kanyon had spent a long time riding the wave of Page and after he is healthly it would be a great time to reinvent himself and make himself a viable contender for the IC Strap......I think he could do it....

In regards to RVD in ECW, he seemed to start all the stalling crap at Hardcore Heaven 99. I mean it really hurt that match with Jerry Lynn a lot. If you watch his TV title win over Bigelow or most of his 1998 stuff he didn't stall like that.

 

I also think Christian is a bit overrated. I see a lot of stuff like "Christian is better than Edge." How? Christian hasn't ever had a notable singles match.

Overated (by Smarks):

 

1. Kurt Angle. He's definatly the first or second best work on the SD! brand (Not including The Rock, tied with Jericho) but I don't think he'll ever be able to carry a ***** match himself. Maybe with a guy who was a good storyteller like Guerrero, Benoit, The Rock or Jericho but on his own his longer matches-though entertaining-can kind of lose purpose and direction.

2. Chris Jericho. Jericho's main strength would be Angle's weakness. That would be his ability to make any match kind of captivate you. His weakneses, however, are Angle's strengths: bumping and a good offense.

 

Come to think of it... I wish they would have an Angle/Jericho feud.

 

3. Lance Storm. People say he's so great... He's my favourite... But he's never even been in a **** match. He's a little better than average worker who is good on the stick. His matches are too choppy, though!

personally, I think Jericho is a great bumper, but his offense dosen't look that great.

 

and I honestly don't think Angle has a weekness. He's just awesome.

 

And Lance can certianly put on a great match, just not when he's fighting slugs like Mark Henry or given only 3 minutes with Helms and Regal.

I like RVD, but dude is the same fucking wrestler. He's got a lot better opponents. He's had to cut out parts of his moveset and focused on hitting those. He's had to throw alot more strikes. And he's had to bump alot more. He's had to make the same little changes everyone else makes, but at the end of the day their still the same wrestler (most of the time). But not alot has changed. He's just WWE RVD; except most people who saw RVD in ECW expected and WWE RVD to be chained down to the mat.

Am I the only one that thought that her ass looked a bit jiggly on the Undressed special? It looked hot when she was standing still, but when she walked away it just looked ... average. I thought that it was much firmer looking in ECW.

 

And don't get me wrong, she's one of my favorite wwe women (I refuse to call them "divas") - my second favorite after Stacey - but it just wasn't underrated to me.
