Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 On July 4, 1987, at the Omni in Atlanta, GA the main event of the Great American Bash Tour show in Atlanta was: WARGAMES - The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Nikita Koloff & Paul Ellering defeated The Four Horsemen (Flair, Arn, Tully, Luger, Dillon) when James J. Dillon submitted to the Road Warriors when they used a spike on him. Anybody care to discuss WarGames' storied past?
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 my favourite match is flair/windham/vicious/zbysko vs. sting/pillman/rick and scott steiner from wrestlewar 91. that match is an easy ***** IMO and is just a brutal blood bath.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 I prefer WG92 to WG91- its just wicked cooler. Plus Sid doesnt kill anybody nor call spots on camera
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 i prefer 91 to 92 mainly for the performances of pillman, flair, and sting. i love the ending of wargames 91 too. when vicious botches the powerbomb and drops pillman on his head he immediatly checks on pillman, almost breaking character. pillman must have said let's do it again because sid picked him up but performed the move more carefully than the first.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 92 has that awesome part where Steamer runs and beats the holy hell out of Rude. Plus- Sting and Koloff beating up some DA, then hugging, then beating up some more DA is pretty sweet. But both matches are awesomly awesome. Another reason WG92 is better- no El Gigante
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 he could never have worked a wargames match anyway. his head would have to go through the roof.
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 a wargames match with no roof on the cage would be interesting wouldn't it? they could make the object of the match, the first guy from either team to hit the floor wins and the only way out is to climb. with 4 or 5 guys on the opposite team there would have be a prety serious beatdown to allow someone to escape.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 Best wargames ever: The one with the warrior. Man they had the big names in the one. 1994: So much colour! Oy! In all reality, its not a wargames without blood and after 92, they all sucked.Nothing beats the original IMO for best wargames.
Guest RetroRob215 Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 Lets not forget the worst War Games EVER.....drum roll please.....THE HULKAMANIACS vs. THE DUNGEON OF DOOM!! No blood, No highspots, just plodding offense and rest holds.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 But...but hogan had powder! and powder hurts people's eyes!
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 that shouldn't even count as a wargames match and doesn't deserve to be listen with the classics from 91 and 92.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 They really should have pulled it out for survivor series. But they didn't want to admit Dusty Rhodes had a good idea.
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 it would have been great for the winner takes all survivor series from last november. the alliance vs. the wwf in a wargames match could have been the best ever, know the parties that were involved.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 The Hulkamaniacs vs. Dungeon of Doom crap was pitiful. Did anyone EVER believe that any of the Dungeon members would beat Hogan at anything? I think Hogan won with the camel clutch or a chinlock or something. Not like anyone there knew any real submission holds. War Games from 91 and 92 rocked. I was surprised to see the Horsemen go over in 91. I think that maybe the DA should have won in 92 and they could have continued the DA angle a little bit longer. Since Sting's Squadron won, I think the whole team should have gotten 5 minutes alone in the cage with Heyman
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 there really aren't any other brawls that are any better than wargames 91 and 92 IMO. they were both bloodbaths, featuring terrific works, who bumped their asses off.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 95's sucked cause of the no blading rule (remember Rhodes & Darsow were fired for doing it at Uncencored). Plus Sting & Luger were in 95 and they basically used 2 great submissions as their respective finishers. (Torture Rack and Scorpion Death Lock). 1998's SUCKED ass. WOW! Stevie Ray, Roddy Piper, Warrior, Nash, DDP (all over the hill or heatless) then you had Sting, Hogan (w/ Dicyple Leslie) and Luger i think.
Guest DARRYLXWF Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I've always liked the GAB 89 waragmes, but it's no where near the best. Still, the heat was pretty good, and can't forget what's his names great comical performance...ah yes, DOX HENDRIX.
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 i forgot about stevie ray. seriously why the fuck would wcw ever put him in a wargames match.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Because he was stashing away Hogans Flap Jack or whatver to knock everyone out. I forgot Bret Hart was in it.
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 still, did wcw have a team of pot smoking monkey's working on this show?
Guest RetroRob215 Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Was the 1998 War Games even a TEAM vs. TEAM match?
Guest nWoScorpion Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 WCW vs. nWo Hollywood vs. Wolfpac although it was a free for all fight anyway, making it more retarded. Plus a pinfall could occur at ANY time. I didn't even know there was a rule that a submission couldn't happen before the final period.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Stevie Ray was in TWO Wargames. And lost both of them. Loser.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 its also the card that the trap door for the godawful warrior fucked Davey's back up and put him on more medication which led to his death. Happy now Hellwig??
Guest nWoScorpion Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 oh yea, Kane and Kole were in 1994 War Games (which was Booker and which was stevie Ray? LoL)
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 its also the card that the trap door for the godawful warrior fucked Davey's back up and put him on more medication which led to his death. Happy now Hellwig?? yeah, that does suck.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I just remembered that and I saw the video 2 weeks ago. Im surprised no one else got hurt.
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 someone else did i think. i don't have a clue who it was but i'm pretty sure davey boy wasn't the only person injured.
