Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 4, 2002 HHH v. Rock is one of those matches that started out 'eh' but as it going I just got more and more into it and was on the edge of my seat for the whole match. It made The Rock. Taker v. Austin is a pretty awesome match- both guys bust ass and c'mon- the table bump was impressive. Really liked the clean finish. _____________________________________ Kane v. Taker isn't a ***** classic by any means. No one claims it to be but its just a dramatic match that tells a fantastic story. All of you scream about psycology- Boom. Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted July 4, 2002 The Match didn't match the hype thats all. WWE dragged out the enemies as tag champs story, whipped together Kane/UT being unmatchable for Austin, and lets not forget the highway to hell video for the match. The Match if lucky barely can break ***.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 4, 2002 My review of Austin v. Taker- Austin gets a mega-pop. Austin slugs away- Taker chucks him into corner and punches away. Austin slugs away but gets clotheslined-2. Austin flips him off. Lockup- Austin works on arm. Taker reverses. Rollup-2. Armbar by Austin. Austin boots him. Taker gets suplex. Legdrop misses- Stungun by Taker-2. Taker kicks his ass. Austin comes back and works on knee. Austin slugs away- Take gets flying lariat and chokes him. Taker goes Old School but gets armdragged off. Austin works on knee and OH MY GAWD! OH MY GAWD! THROUGH HELL FIRE AND BRIMSTONE IT’S KANE! MY GAWD THE FURY. Taker sends him to the back. Slugfest- Taker wins. Austin works on knee more. Chokeslam by Taker- Austin clotheslines him out. Brawl on the outside and into the crowd. Austin goes for piledriver but gets backdropped. Back in- Taker blocks Stunner and bails. Austin flies out after him- Taker catches him and rams him into steps. Austin fights back but gets chucked out. Brawl on the outside- Taker lays him out on the Spanish Announce Table. He then does a legdrop from the top rope through the table. OH. MY. GOD. HOLY SHIT! Back in- it only gets two. Blind charge by Taker misses but he kills him more. Double clothesline- both out. Slugfest- Austin wins. Thesz Press and FU Elbow by Austin. Austin gets weird neckbreaker-2. Chokeslam- Austin blocks tombstone but gets crotched on ropes. Russian legsweep- Taker goes Old School. Austin lowblows him coming down. KICK WHAM STUNNER wins it. ***1/2 These guys busted ass and produced a fun match. Post-match Taker gives him the belt and walks off as him and Kane look on at a celebrating Austin.

Guest DKnez Report post Posted July 4, 2002 Breakdown has the awesome Rocky,Shamrock,Mankind cage match and a ***1/4 Edge vs Owen Hart match.
Guest alfdogg Report post Posted July 5, 2002 I think SummerSlam '90 is overrated. The only match that was really good was the tag title match, and I guess you could make an argument for the cage match. Other than that, I honestly can't remember anything else that was even **. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 5, 2002 Summ90 is one of those shows thats fun to watch. I mean yea the wrestling sucks money shit but it's just one of those shows you pop in and enjoy.
Guest alfdogg Report post Posted July 5, 2002 I agree here. To be honest, had not Vince been on commentary instead of Gorilla, I would have enjoyed it A LOT more.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 5, 2002 Hmmm yea- Gorilla and Piper would make a great team since they were both fantastic announcers.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted July 5, 2002 add heenan to that and it would have been perfection.

Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted July 5, 2002 SSlam wasn't That bad....(thinks) ok it wasn't that good either. It's enjoyable to see Power & Glory kill Marty Jannetty, Tornado wining the IC Title, Demolition/Foundation, LOD debut, Hogan return, the cage match and Savage making Rhodes his bitch in about 3 minutes. Guest godthedog Report post Posted July 7, 2002 well...wrestlemania 17 was a great show, but i hardly think it deserves the "best show ever" accolades that have been thrown on it. it easily blows away anything from this year & a lot from last year, but match-for-match it wasn't even the best ppv of 2001 in my opinion. and i don't buy that "epic aura" stuff, that's just the result of good hype and good PR, it doesn't really have anything to do with how well the show delivered. jericho/regal: good match, but was way below my (and i think everyone else's) expectations. its shortness made it pretty underwhelming. *** tazz & a.p.a./r.t.c: this match went by too quickly before i could even form an opinion of it. raven/kane/big show: pretty fun match, with nice bumping by raven, but still felt like filler. like candy: went down easy, but i was hungry as soon as it was over. *** guerrero/test: this probably would've been a really good fucking match if test didn't suck so much. as it stands, it was a very okay match. ** angle/benoit: 4 matches down the card, & this is the first to leave any kind of real impression. it IS a very good match, but seems to get a tad cliched & without much direction after the mat wrestling that everybody (rightly) creams themselves over. i think people tend to overrate this match cause it's angle & benoit. ***3/4 ivory/chyna: waste of time not even worth addressing. dud vince/shane: WAY overrated. i admit that the first time i saw it, i marked out & was very entertained, but this thing just doesn't hold up to repeated viewings. inbetween shane's crazy shit, it's just shitty brawling and a soap opera. *1/2 for effort by shane. TLC 3: i'm not a fan of spotfests and i don't automatically give them 5 snowflakes. the spots themselves WERE innovative and "holy shit"-worthy, but the problem was that the whole thing didn't look like a wrestling match. when somebody was going up the ladder, i wasn't on the edge of my seat waiting to see if he would get the belts & win, i was just waiting for the next spot to start. matches like this don't build logically toward a finish, they just keep churning out more & more dangerous spots. and what a shitty ending. ***1/2, which is about as high as it gets for a spotfest from me. trips/taker: i only got the chance to see this match once, but i remember being very impressed by it. ***1/2 austin/rock: great match. when it started i actually didn't really care who was going to win, but i was cheering & gasping by the end. austin does an absolutely GENIUS job of playing the subtle heel. but a lot of little flaws (rocky's blade-dropping and generally pussy blade job, way too much brawling for my taste, sloppy sharpshooters, too many stupid near-falls like the guys trading finishers) keep it from being an all-time classic. still one of the best mania main events ever. ****1/2 so what do we end up with? almost nothing actively bad, lots of inoffensive filler, a few really good matches, and one knock-you-on-your-ass near-classic. more than enough to make a great pay-per-view, but what really hurts this show is the amount of forgettable filler. since the filler didn't suck it's still a great pay-per-view, but an hour of fat could've easily been cut (including video packages and such) to make for a leaner, more effective pay-per-view. i think the rumble beats this one because the really good matches just seem to come at you one right after the other. this one starts off a little slow, then really good stuff, then another lull before slowly building its momentum back up. another thing that hurts wrestlemania is that its best match wasn't as good as the rumble's best match (the ladder match). the best ppv ever should have at least one match for the ages on the card, & i think rock/austin falls a little short. i have a fast-forward button, so i'd rather get a ppv that has 2 matches for the ages with really shitty filler than 1 "almost" match for the ages with decent to good filler. meaning, of course, i think wrestlemania 10 is the better wrestlemania, simply because it has 2 of the greatest matches ever on it. anyway, to sum up...wrestlemania 17: great pay-per-view, but not best ever. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I disagree with your star ratings but regardless X-7 just has this aura about it. You know what I mean?? But I can understand someone liking the other two better- they both are awesome.

Guest JHawk Report post Posted July 7, 2002 WrestleWar 89 is highly overrated. Flair-Steamboat's an easy *****, no question, but dear God is there some dreck on that undercard. I don't think I gave anything other than Flair-Steamboat anything higher than **. And yet most people think that was the third out of four awesome PPVs in a row for the NWA/WCW/whatever they were called that week. One match can save a PPV, but it shouldn't turn the PPV into a classic.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Agreed- Badd Blood is one of those one match shows and its just painful to watch until the main event. Flag match is kinda good though
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted July 7, 2002 wrestlewas 89 is pretty well only know for the flair/steamboat match. there weren't any matches they stuck out in my mind as being that great but flair and steamboat saved the card.
