Chinese Food

Guest RetroRob215

I just back from a Chinese Food resturant and I would have to say General Tso's Chicken.

I'm a little tired of it now, but I'm a HUGE mark for cold noodles with sesame sauce. The quality really depends on the kind of sauce used, and the consistency of the noodles.

I also love those spare rib tips that always leave meat stuck between your teeth.

I really like Kung Pao chicken. The weird thing is, every place I go to makes it extremely different from each other. My favorite is from a place called, Wong's. They make it with chicken & vegetables, in a sort of spicy broth. Most other places make it with more of a thick gravy type sauce rather then a broth.

I also like anything with curry.(excluding dog of course, hehehe)

It's all about the Tangerine/Orange Chicken. And Sweet and Sour Pork if I can get it too.

Since this was my 100th post, I should celebrate with some Chinese food.

General Tso kicks all the ass

we have a local place called Wing Fong...their buffet kills any other kind of food that's even been cooked.

Me and Slingshot Suplex thought of the General Tso Challenge:

They get one of these little Chineese guys who can eat 2,300 hotdogs or whatever and dress him as a warlord or something (complete with Fu Man Shu mustache)...he'd be the general and he's challenge you to outeat him in chicken...

Dumb little promotion that you think of when you're stuffing you gut full of Chineese food

I wanted Youth to play the warlord in the commercial. It would have made him a mid-Michigan cult phenom like Sir Graves Ghastley or Count Scary

Wing Fong..Wing Fong...first place we go after I get back to Michigan..after Dort Highway.

"You no take General's challenge!!!!!"

I just had Chinese last night and brought Jumbo Shrimp and Mixed Vegs with Pork Rice. Kinda Eh...I normally go the safe route and get the Bourbon Chicken with a side order of Kung pao chicken.

I've had some of the rice and shrimp. Good stuff.

Eggrolls aren't that bad either.

That's not much of a surprise, considering about 80% of the stuff on a Chinese food menu is Americanized. Well, on the English menu, anyways.

My faves are congee and lobster with ginger and green onion.

Wing Fong? That anything like the Wing Kong Exchange?

David Lo Pan makes the best eggrolls this side of the Phantom Realm of the Great Void.

If I remember correctly, aren't Chow Mein and Lo Mein reversed on the West and East coasts? I ask because when we visited family in Maryland, I ordered Chow Mein thinking it was noodles with chicken and shit, but got what is called Lo Mein out here in Cali, which is those crunchy noodles with some clear weird sludge type stuff.......so any of you guys on the East Coast, lemme know what's up......

If it helps, the literal translations are:

- chow mein: fried noodles

- lo mein: mixed noodles

so basically chow mein should have the food either stir fried together or the noodles themselves are fried. Lo mein should have the meat and vegetables on top of steamed or boiled noodles. These are not hard and fast rules though...

Nothing beats Sweet and Sour dishes, well maybe chow mein meals.

I really like Chinese beer as well.

I gotta admit the old standby is sweet and sour chicken, but if I'm at a buffet, it's all my favorite. The only thing I can't eat at a Chinese restaurant are carrots. It sounds silly, but goddamn I had some horrendous carrots at this chinese place on campus. Ugh.

If at a Szechuan restaurant, I order 'Home Style Bean Curd.'

If it's a non-Szechuan restaurant, I order 'Szechuan Style Bean Curd.'

It's just chunks of tofu with mixed vegetables coated in HOT SAUCE OF DOOM. Or at least a good, tasty hot sauce.

I also like me some General Tso's Bean Curd, Sesame Bean Curd, and anything from a Buddhist Chinese restaurant (which specialize in fake meat dishes).

I'm hungry now too!
