I Can't think of any but who knows? Alot of Marks/Smarks are more knowledgable then I am.

A name that will be brought up is Waylon Mercy. He acted like a face on the way to the ring, and would shake his opponents hand and all, and then become a brutal heel. It was ahead of its time in 1995.

I keep forgetting this fact but did he shake hands with his left hand?

I think he would offer his left hand and then nail the jobber with his right. Man he ruled.

Only person in the real world to offer a LEFT handed hand shake is me, for some odd reason. Perhaps I can't be........TRUSTED. But come on, Trust me.........Trust me. HEHEHE

Waylon Mercy was the shit. Nothing else to say!

I think we have our winner. :)

Does anybody else think "The Ringmaster" could work if the right guy was using it? I always kind of liked the gimmick and felt the right guy could have pulled it off. I'm not sure Austin was that guy, although with DiBiase doing most of the talking it was hard for Austin to get it over on his own.

waylon mercy is the only one that pops into my head too. his act was so wicked.

Good thing Iron Shiek isn't around today eh? LOL

I thought The Genius character was pretty catchy. All that damn ballet during the match would drive the faces crazy! He also utilized a left-handed handshake to piss off the Hulk Hogans of the world.

It was so great seeing him score a countout win over Hogan! LOL!

the genius would work at anytime because he is such a heat grabbing character. mr. perfect from 1990 would also work today with his work ethic and promo abilities.

razor ramon is another great character that would get over today. anyone who can talk shit and back it up like he did can get over at anytime. what the fuck happened to curt hennig and scott hall.

They weren't given The Waylon mercy gimmick so they had no moto to perform. Hell, I'd rather be a conman than perfect or "bad".

I could actually go for another round with Doink the Evil Clown. Back when Matt Bourne was doing the gimmick, it was awesome in that Doink was always about pissing people off and doing "pranks" that led to people getting bludgeoned with blunt instruments =-D That was good TV.

MR. P & Ramon wren't BAD gimmicks.

*glass breaks*

(deep voice): REEEPO MANNNN!

I marked out for him then and I still would if he came in now.

I didn't mean they were bad gimmicks, just that Razor Ramon was often reffered to as "The Bad Guy". I would still kill to see a Waylon Mercy ripoff today. The Jim Cornette 7-year statute is up, so what is Vinnie Boy waiting for?

Guest dreamer420

that is why i said he was a great character. ramon is just a cool dude who would have worked at anytime. too bad scott hall can't.

Exactly what you said. Doink played a killer heel and I think he would be more over today.

The bushwhackers would rule it. So would the Narcissist

I could see the Narsacisst getting over today. The one character i'd probably mark out like a little bitch for would be Papa Shango. He was scarey as hell

Guest cabbageboy

Papa Shango was the man.

Maybe I am forgetting something, but I can't understand all this marking out for Waylon Mercy. The guy was a forgettable mid 90s jobber with a slightly unusual gimmick.

I think he faced Diesel in a few house shows (and got a title match on TV i think) against him, so i'm thinking maybe they wer epushing for him until he got injured (hence why he jobbed to not So Jobio at the time Vega)

Nailz(I remember it with a Z, perhaps im wrong), he came across pretty badass, to a pubescent me at least.

I swear 1992 WWF was the height of all cheesy gimmick wrestlers that still have fans. 1995 was another high point but by then I was old enough to know gimmick wrestlers sucked.
