Guest MrRant Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Just when you thought the Steve Austin story was over... The next issue of RAW Magazine will feature a story on the entire Austin situation, and word going around is that the story is extremely anti-Austin. The cover will feature Austin in his "What?" t-shirt, but instead of "What?" it will say "Why?". Just to make things worse, the story will also mention the beating incident involving Austin and Debra shortly after Austin's walk out. Apparently Vince McMahon is still very upset about how Austin left and is doing what he can to bury him. Credit: 1wrestling.com/411wrestling.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- Guess Vince can't let anything go can he? While I agree with him being angry with how he left, this is not right in my opinion. But... part of me wonders if he is supposed to be gone and gone for good why keep dragging him out there?
Guest Ram Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Well, I think Vince is going to let Austin go after he gets all this out. Then if and when Austin goes to NWATNA, who would want to watch a quiiter/wife beater?
Guest HartFan86 Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Hmm...Vince is burying Austin more than Bret.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Who reads those magazines though?
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Probably Austin walking out of the WWE would be worst to Vince when Bret walked out of the WWF.. Because Vince knew ahead of time that Bret was going, his interests for WCW leaked out and basically their situation just poisoned it, but Austin, No one knew. Austin just out of the blue to the point of view to the WWE just up and left. Vince probably feels more justified to bury Austin than anyone else. IF Vince had his way his Burying campaige will give Austin a Stigma for Any Wrestling promoter who hires him that says "Hey, this guy will walk and quit on you if he feels unappreciated." a Big Tempermental Bald Baby.
Guest chirs3 Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Bury his ass, Vince. Burn that bridge while you can.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 heh heh heh. I thought I'd never say this..but..go Vince!
Guest Nezbyte Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Im siding with Vince on this one. He made him a star, and he'll be DAMNED if that star makes money for someone else.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 "Then if and when Austin goes to NWATNA, who would want to watch a quiiter/wife beater? " Although NWA couldn't afford him...I would watch him.
Guest Nezbyte Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 If i was Austin i would go just to spit Vince. Or, i'd start my own fed w/Foley and Hart.
Guest takapac Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 This is absurd behaviour on the part of Vince, as I can definitely see him having to eat his words within a year. I can almost literally see Austin returning in the distance. Failing that, as to NWA: TNA, it's true that they can't afford him on any long term basis. But he might do a show or two for them just to thumb his nose at Vince if the "burial" continues.
Guest UltimateWarrior Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Hmm...Vince is burying Austin more than Bret. Oh no he's not.
Guest Brian Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 "Im siding with Vince on this one. He made him a star, and he'll be DAMNED if that star makes money for someone else." Not this again. Entirely false. "Bury his ass, Vince. Burn that bridge while you can." Vince is making a big mistake if he does that. He's alienating a whole lot of fans who watch mainly for Austin. He's killing a possible Austin comeback, in which when he comes he'll go straight after Vince and Ross. But if he continues to push him as the bad guy, he'll really blow this. Sure sympathy will be there, but Austin's charcter doesn't need that. If they mend everything, there's still a lot left that they could do with Austin. Hell, even build this into jobbing to Brock which is what he wanted. And ocnsidering Vince came to Bret, he'll eventually come to Austin.
Guest Dangerous A Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 First thing is even though Austin is not being used, he is still contactually binded from going to NWA-TNA. I believe there is a no-compete clause or, as I understand, WWE hasn't released him officially and are just not using him. So scratch Austin being on TNA, at least for awhile. While Vince is burying Austin, it hasn't gotten to the Bret levels, yet. You've got to give Vince time. It can (and probrably will) surpass Bret level burying.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 yeah...Austin is under contract with the WWE and can't do shit. He can't even do a tv commercial without Vince signing off on it. But Austin has enough money that Vince can't starve him out.
Guest caboose Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Vince burying Austin. Why doesn't that surprise me? Maybe because Vince is an ASS~! Sure Austin walked, but you just never know when the ratings may hit absoloute Rock Bottom(If they have't already).
Guest Human Fly Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Sure Austin walked, but you just never know when the ratings may hit absoloute Rock Bottom(If they have't already). They haven't, they are still a far cry from the lows in the mid-90's. Vince is backing up the truck when it comes to the bury job on Austin, but who honestly thought that Hogan would be back in the WWE?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 yeah...Austin is under contract with the WWE and can't do shit. He can't even do a tv commercial without Vince signing off on it. I suspect someday, perhaps after the contract goes, he'll write a book.
Guest BookerTman Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Vince sure is an insecure little man.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I'll mark out when Austin comes out next year at Wrestlemania and beats the shit out of Vince or something
Guest Austin3164life Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Vince thrives off of controversiality. Just take a look at the way the relationship between Bret and Vince went down. Not only did Vince screw Bret, but he came up with the moniker "Bret screwed Bret". Vince is the most bullheaded man alive, and a man like always has to have the last say in everything. Even if Vince did something wrong to his stars (i.e. Bret, Austin) he'll never in his life admit it. I will definitely pick up the next Raw magazine. Vince is easily trying to cash in on whatever drawing ability Austin has left. Oh, and about Austin joining the NWA-TNA. Not a chance in hell. I don't think that Jarrett would hire Austin, first of all due to money, second off, Jarrett doesn't like him. I still would mark out if Bret joined up with Steve (Bret has written that he admires Austin the most in pro-wrestling) and they formed their own wrestling federation out of their love for it. But I'm dreaming. That is all.
Guest Downhome Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Personally, I feel there is tons more to this than meets the eye, and many people are just buying in to it. There is no reason that Vince would showcase this on Confidential, there is no reason that they would talk about it on their programs, and there certainly is no reason they would showcase it in the WWE magazine, much less on the cover of it. Yes, I admit that it could just be a way for them to make a profit off of a negative just to milk the situation dry, but I still feel this is their setting the foundation for if/when Austin returns. I mean, this is one hell of a start for a big $$$ angle. If both parties think about it, and really come together, and I feel the chances are good that it will happen, then this could put WWE and Austin back on top of their games.

I feel with that assumption you might be giving the WWE creative team a bit too much credit, my friend.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Austin will be back. There is no doubt in my mind. But does he really want to bury Austin while he's away and ruin a possible HUGE return?

I feel with that assumption you might be giving the WWE creative team a bit too much credit, my friend. I do not feel this is a work, it is a shoot I assure you. I do however feel that there are two reasons doing what they are doing. One being, to just milk the situation dry, in case he doesn't return. Two, setting the foundation for a HUGE angle in case they come to an agreement. Austin will be back. There is no doubt in my mind. But does he really want to bury Austin while he's away and ruin a possible HUGE return? Like I said, I feel it is a hell of a foundation for THE angle that could help revive the WWE product.
Guest chirs3 Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 The problem is, how would they spin it into an angle without 100% breaking Kayfabe? They've sometimes bent the rules, or quickly stepped over the line, but how could they spin this into an angle without just outright flatly saying live on Raw "Yo, this is all faked."

Austin is pissed at WWE because of their use of him, their current product, etc... He left in a rage because he just couldn't take it anymore. Months later, at the begining of just a normal RAW durring an opening Vince promo in the ring, the music of one Eric Bishoff hits. It's on, Austin is actually siding with the man who once fired him, and then begin various talent in WWE "turning" on the product, and they decide to MAKE the product better. A type of invasion if you will, just done the f'n right way. By feeding to the fans how horrible of a person that Austin is, the group he returns with is instanly an over heel. I'm just talking out my ass, but you get the idea, it COULD be worked into some sort of big $$$ angle, it would just take time to build upon.
