Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 You've all seen him in WCW, you know him from Spider-Man, THAT'S RIGHT...I am talkin' about the Macho Man Randy Savage. In all honesty, the current state of the WWE cannot be turned around by bringing in a huge name, however a big name that can back up the hype attached to them can only do good for the company. Although 48 years old, Randy Savage has maintained his skill within the ring throughout his career. I remember in 1997 he was putting kids 20 years younger than him to shame when he'd tear the house down with Diamond Dallas Page. Randy Savage is a time-honoured LEGEND that has the ability to back up the starlight emitting from his name. I believe 'Mach' would be an awesome asset to the WWE, if only for a year or so. What are your thoughts? Your friendly neighbourhood Taker-man
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 No. No. No. No. No. No. Hogan gets huge pops, but tanks ratings. Why? He's a novelty, plain and simple. People pop for him because it's Hogan..not because they want to see him as champ, or see him on their tv each week. Same would be with Savage.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 His knee is shot. He tore it up in 98. Not a good idea. But then again, they did sign the rest of the NWO, who were broken down.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 No. He can't draw anymore. Plain and simple. He's old and has NOT maintained his level of skill for the past decade. His last good matches were either with Flair or DDP. When you can't have a great match with Bret fucking Hart (just as deteriorated), your best days are behind you. However, it would be sick seeing Savage going around cutting crazy promos on random people and then dragging them to the ring and dropping elbows on them.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Savage is asking a lot of money, IIRC. Nobody can afford him, so he's got to lower his price beore WWE would even consider him or he joins TNA's Old Men Club. Go ahead and use him as a suprise entrant in the Royal Rumble or something, but make it either a one time appearance or a no-longer-than-three-months deal.

I do beleive Savage stated in a recent interview that its the ( at the time ) "WWF or nothing at all". If anything, Savage is the personification of charisma, he sure as hell beats fucking Tazz or Michael Cole.... SAVAGE SMACKDOWN! FEEL THE MADNESS! OHHHHHHH YEAH!
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Randy-Savage-is-too-busy-jobbing-to-Tobey-Mcquire.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Now see, La Parka was a good idea. But this is just silly.

Nobody can afford him, so he's got to lower his price beore WWE would even consider him or he joins TNA's Old Men Club. Um, how is the NWA:TNA the "Old Men Club?" Their roster is a Hell of alot younger then the WWE's right now. The only two guys who are up there in age are Hall and Jarrett and their not even all that old. And for what it's worth, Hall has been having some good matches there. Alot better then his WWE run. It's amazing the type of match you can have when the wrestler you're in there with actually sells and works with you. (Fuck You Austin)
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Um, how is the NWA:TNA the "Old Men Club?" I'm talking about Steamboat and the other old boys who do non-wrestling duties.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 My apologies then. I thought you were judging the show with out ever seeing it. Anyway, Savage is one of my all time favorites but I wouldn't bring him in. He won't help the ratings, the product or the backstage "moral." If they were gonna bring him in then it should have been during the "Invasion" or the nWo. It's too late now. I'm sorry to say, but I think the same of Scott Steiner now. Bring in Savage and do a Confidential on him. I'll be happy with that.
Guest JAxlMorrison Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 I am currently and have always been a Savage fan. He was much cooler then Hogan in the 80s, even as the terrible "Macho King" character. And yes, he did have a hell of a series with Page in WCW. BUT......someone earlier said his knee is shot, and that is true. After all his knee problems his workrate took a plunge, and he was hurting people left and right with the flying elbow. So he can't work like he used to, he's older then Hogan, and I personally don't think he'd even get a pop like Hogan does, despite being a legend in his own right (see Flair, Ric). Let's not forget that the oversaturation of older faces on WWE TV is what started the ratings drop in the 1st place.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 No. Hogan/Savage may have been entertaining 20 years ago, but not now.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Who needs to see Hogan Vs Savage again? We already have Hogan Vs Savage "2K" in the likes of Triple H and Jericho.
Guest jester Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Bring Savage back? Half of their problems is holding on to old guys who can't deliver the same goods anymore. Unless he does commentary or something like that, I don't think it should happen. You know, I was never big on Jennifer Aniston until that picture. jester
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Who needs to see Hogan Vs Savage again? We already have Hogan Vs Savage "2K" in the likes of Triple H and Jericho. The only difference is HHH and Jericho have never teamed up together in the storylines and obviously never will due to obvious reasons. Back to the topic. I don't think it would be a good idea to bring Savage back to WWE. He's very old now, he's asking for too much money just to be signed, and since his knee problems caught onto him in WCW in the late 90's, his workrate started deteriorating. He was good in his prime, but not now, keep any other old wrestler far away from WWE as much as possible, and Hogan should retire soon so WWE can hopefully get rid of him and eliminate an old talent off the roster, as I don't think he'd do great as a commentator/manager or even want to be a road agent.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 I'd bring Savage back to do commentary, if you could get him cheap enough. And...that's all.
Guest greeneb22 Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Randy Savage would just be another 'quick fix' to the lack of interest and would get old real quick.
Guest Creepy Crawl Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 I think it would be pretty sweet to have Macho Man do commentary . As far as wrestling no thanks , that dude belongs in baseball with all the roids he has done lately ............ or as HHH's roid connect .
Guest TheSmarkzone Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 He's a roided gimp at this point. I guess you forgot his disasterous 1999 run. That match that he had at the Great American Bash '99 with Nash may be the worst main event I have EVER seen.
Guest BrandonKos Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 I heard Savage demands outrageous amounts of money, so my guess is he isn't worth it. His popularity was never on par with Hogan's, and Hogan has turned into a rating's disaster. The WWF needs to focus on bring up different main eventers such as Benoit, Guerrero, RVD, Edge, etc. Have these guys main event regularly.
Guest Kid Kablam Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 He could join NWA and have a match with Steamboat! OOOOO YEAH!
Guest Baggy Sac Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Bringing back Savage as an announcer would be retarded, but fucking funny. It would be even better to have him team up with "Straight Shootin" Stevie Ray. Why, because suckas gots to know.
Guest Kid Kablam Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 and what would be great is if WWE brought back Dusty Rhodes and had him and Savage Commentate. Dusty: That would be a cluberin if you weeeeeeeeel Savage: OOOOOO Yeahhhhhhhhh!

I think calling himself the Babe ruth of wrestling isn't a compliament because when Babe Ruth was hanging around the Baseball field for the yankee's when he was way past his prime he was a just a Attraction to just a guy people will automatically cheer for even if he's dying in front of them. And Savage....heh first weeks of his "Return to WCW" he got that knee problem which made him feel the need to Put more weight into his elbow drops than to protect the opponent on the mat when he does it. Hence crushing lil natch's lungs that one time. WWE don't need people who sacrifices other people to prolong their own meager twilight careers.

You ever got to a live legit sporting event like a hockey, baseball, basketball, whatever game, and they show some guy that used to play for the home team 10 years ago in the crowd? There's always a huge pop from the home town fans. THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY WANT HIM PLAYING AGAIN. They're cheering for the good memories and they want him to know they appreciate him. But let the young guys down on the field/court/ice do the work. jester

However, all points are valid in not bringing Randy back in a wrestling sense, but he's always been damn entertaining...that 'roid comment seems pretty authentic too, watching him on Spider-Man was shocking, he was absolutely huge. Bigger than he has ever been. Retain the legacy, stay outta the ring Randy...im with you all now Your friendly neighbourhood Taker-man
Guest buffybeast Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Hey, I went to SummerSlam 95. I liked it. Ok, it stunk but so what?!!!!
