Guest Anglesault Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Is this a game? Like Where's Waldo? I win! i found Molly! 64!
Guest the pinjockey Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Damn you I was up to 58 when you got there. I was thisclose. Who would have thought, this time last year, that Trish would have been on a top 100 wrestlers list? Second question where is Jacqueline Hyde? she used PSYCHOLOGY~! damnit.
Guest art_vandelay Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Where's Jazz? Or are non-active wrestlers excluded from these lists?
Guest wolverine Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 You're correct, they don't include inactive wrestlers.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 But I thought it was within the 1/2 year time frame, so Jazz *should* qualify... I wonder if DEAN was pushing for Billy and Chuck to be in it this time?
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Where's Jazz? Or are non-active wrestlers excluded from these lists? Ya gotta be active. She was on the last update. DEAN.
Guest Downhome Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 By the way, what does it say about the US, when the first US female wrestler (I think) that is on the list, is way down at #64? After reading this, perhaps it's time I look into buying some Joshi tapes.
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 But I thought it was within the 1/2 year time frame, so Jazz *should* qualify... DR: She's hurt now, right? Everyone was waning on her allure as a wrestler, either way. I hadn't seen her in the time period. I wonder if DEAN was pushing for Billy and Chuck to be in it this time? DR: BILLY AND CHUCK ARE ALLLLLLL MAN, DADDY! DEAN. Who is obviously stoked as a mutha about [spoiler! SPOILER!] Benoit and Eddy jumping to Smackdown....
Guest art_vandelay Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 You're correct, they don't include inactive wrestlers. Ya gotta be active. She was on the last update. DEAN. Ah, ic. Thanks for clearing that up. What position did Jazz place last month?

After reading this, perhaps it's time I look into buying some Joshi tapes. Well here is the North American Wrestlers Breakdown (and always remeber that Women's Wrestling in Japan was brought over by Judy Martin and the ilk so it really is a strange offshoot of US Pro Style.) 10 Faby Apache 13 Ayako Hamada 19 Lady Apache 25 Mary Apache 46 Esther Morena 47 Bionic J 51 Cynthia Moreno 55 Malia Hosaka 60 Cheerleader Melissa 61 Lady Pentagon 64 Molly Holly 66 Leilani Kai 72 Miss Natural 76 Heather Savage 78 Marcela 80 Mercedes Martinez 81 Miss Janeth 82 Tiffany 83 Little Jeanie 89 Trish Stratus 90 Diana La Cazadora 92 Bambi 93 Amber Holly 94 GEE STAR 97 Rain 99 Taylor Matheny 100 Mighty Heidi 27 out of 100 is pretty good for a continent with no real sustained focus on Women's wrestling. DEAN.
Guest LesnarLunatic Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 honestly, if WOW was smart, they'd go for this sort of work, instead of gimmick-o-rana. I still want my ideas accepted for WOW, like.. Ms. Wrestling (white boots, white tights, kneelift) A man in a mask claiming to be a woman, that'd get alot of heel heat, right? and of course, McLane would want to do a lesbian gimmick also.
Guest Smeghead Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Taylor Matheny... That's not the Taylor from TE1, is it?
Guest evenflowDDT Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 27 out of 100 is pretty good for a continent with no real sustained focus on Women's wrestling. Well, if you think about it (and please don't misinterpret this as a sexist comment, although I suppose it is, slightly): what can a female wrestler provide that a male wrestler can't? More often than not, in America, it's nothing, just sex appeal. It doesn't matter how good (or poor) of a worker, in America all that matters is if she's hot or not.

Well, considering there are wrestlers on this list that are better than Chris Benoit, Eddy Guerrero, Kurt Angle, etc., I think for those hardcore fans who want the best wrestling in the world, that's what they provide.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Screw these japanese chicks. I want some Jackie Gayda matches!
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Taylor Matheny... That's not the Taylor from TE1, is it? Oh yeah, she's in ARSION teaming with Cheerleader Melissa and Bionic J in a American Invasion stable. She is fun and very very green- but she is wrestling Ai Fujita, Noki-a and Mariko Yoshida everyday so I'm assuming she'll get real good real fast or there is no hope for her. DEAN.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Leilani Kei is still wrestling? Wasn't she at Wrestlemania 1?

More often than not, in America, it's nothing, just sex appeal. It doesn't matter how good (or poor) of a worker, in America all that matters is if she's hot or not. DR: Well, you could say it about anything in wrestling. Junior Heavyweights do everything a Heavyweight can do- just faster and more athletically. Heavyweights can do almost everything junior heavyweights can do but look more credible when they do it. If you had a core of women under contract who were really exceptional wrestlers and you pushed them as wrestlers, they would get as over as much as you wanted them to. The thing about women's wrestling in Japan where whole promotions are nothing but women- the dynamic is completely different. They have to function as complete wrestlers all up and down the card. You have an ace, a top face, top heel, midcard. All the angles are the same as it would be in Men's wrestling- as the tried and true formulas that draw for the men are applied to the women- fueds, blood, cages, blading- the whole deal. The best comparison is the Negro leagues. The had to create everything separately to mirror the other league. In the US and Mexico and Canada, I don't know if anyone is willing to invest that much money or would gather up the talent needed to make a go of it as an independent entity since money is in the heavyweights in the US and Canada and men in general in Mexico. Remember that there were women's promotions in Japan before there were men's promotions, so they have had an odd genesis. DEAN. DEAN. DEAN.
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Leilani Kei is still wrestling? Wasn't she at Wrestlemania 1? Maaan, get Kai's matches from USA Pro against Malia Hosaka and Bambi. Leilani rocks it in the '02 as old school heel who bumps like a freak. I never liked her in the 80s so imagine my surprise.... DEAN.
Guest the pinjockey Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 I just get a kick out of the fact that the WWF picked Nidia over someone who is already one of the top 100 women in the world. I would imagine that to be that good already she had to show some major potential during the show.

I would imagine that to be that good already she had to show some major potential during the show. DR: We got one indie match vs Alison Danger from New Jersey which wouldn't have gotten her on and we got the ARSION debut where Mariko Yoshida (#1 in the last Joshi 100) was stretching them and beating them to death. Cheerleader Melissa was actually trading punches with Yoshida which was boss. Taylor looked smoked on the matwork by Yoshida, but that's like getting smoked by Dean Malenko on the mat. It was definately enough to get her on though. Her upside is pretty big. It was a great move to get the ARSION gig. DEAN.
Guest razazteca Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 #82 Tiffany is that the woman from AAA?
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 #82 Tiffany is that the woman from AAA? Yeah, she drifted up a little. I dug her match with Pimpi (eventhough Pimpernella is allll man, big daddy!). DEAN.
Guest razazteca Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 why Dean Why? Tiffany has as much talent wrestling as Stephanie McMahon.....very little. She blown spots during one of the Reina de Reina matches, when one of the women went to do a suicide dives Tiffany convently moved out of the way not protecting the other woman. Plus some of her matches against Lady Apache were not really that good, that one on the LLL special had Apache carry Tiffany thoughout the match.

She was better than Lady Rabbit, La Justiciera, La Intrusa, Tigresa Del Norte, La Felina, Serpiente Salvaje, Martha Villalobos, Mujer Demente, Hechicera, Lady Rabbit, Estrellita, and Fugitiva in the period. She's not Lady Apache, but who is? DEAN.
Guest razazteca Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 to be honest none of them are actually good. But I do remember a wrestler that was on AAA about a week ago that was in a tag match with Lady Apache vs Akino & Faby Apache that was almost as good her was #51 Cynitha Morano? The match was a clash of style nearly as bad as a William Regal match. The Japanese were smacking around the mexicans, while they tried to do spots, that armbar takedown ruled.
