Guest ShooterJay Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Remember the thread I started last week about HHH/HBK, and how I stated it would break ***1/2 stars? Well, I also said that the primary standard would be Dave Meltzer's rating, because he is the one truly unbiased (well, least biased) wrestling op guy the the 'Net, and here's what he had to say about the match... "HHH vs. Michaels is next. They went 27:00 and totally stole the show. Michaels pinned him with a cradle after blocking the pedigree. Michaels pulled out everything including an elbow drop off a ladder and a plancha through a table. HHH attacked him after with a sledge hammer to the back twice. The greatest thing they ever did was put two announcing teams out there because all the comparisons lit a fire on both teams. Double juice. Michaels out on a stretcher." So, when can I start my column?
Guest NazMistry Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Yeah and I like I said in that thread, I'll give credit when deserved. Big props to Michaels for being entertaining. I popped huge for the table spot. Triple H still looked like crap though.
Guest RicFlairGlory Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Loved the match, they definetly did take the Show, and I personally think its a 4 star match at the very least, especially considering HBK had "a broken back." I mean Jesus Christ, HBK got a NASSAU crowd to pop like a motherfucker. I wouldnt object to someone calling it a MOTYC
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 I think he's gone crazy, that match totally sucked IMO. Sure the last 5 minutes or so were pretty good, but the first 10 minutes were so unbelieveably boring, I wouldn't have it any higer than **.
Guest HartFan86 Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Hey, hHh shaved too. It was an awesome match. Live with it.
Guest B-X Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Hooray for you. Here's a fucking cookie. Bye.
Guest eiker_ir Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 elbow from a ladder?! i GOT to see the match......
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 You'd see the match for a fucking elbow from a ladder? The spots were completely average for today's standards.
Guest NazMistry Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 HBK was good. But Triple H was complete shit. That is what I saw. Sorry BretHart4Ever but you must have been watching WMX7 by accident.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 The match kicked ass. I hate HBK and dislike HHH and I was marking out like crazy. Awesome match
Guest eiker_ir Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 yeah, i didn't think Shawn would do that
Guest bob_barron Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 You'd see the match for a fucking elbow from a ladder? The spots were completely average for today's standards. You do realise the guy doing it has a fucked up back and hadn't wrestled in four years

Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 I don't care if he's a cripple or not. Just because he's a cripple and does some weak bumps, it doesn't make them good .
Guest eiker_ir Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 "You do realise the guy doing it has a fucked up back and hadn't wrestled in four years" "Exactly. What are you expecting Shawn to do? A somersault plancha?" my toughts exactly
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 I look at the people calling HBK/HHH MOTN and MOTYC and I realize Who the real marks are on the board.
Guest Brian Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 It was up high. Best brawl I've seen in about two and a half years. The psychology was really solid as HHH worked the back (though the selling wasn't great), and as Shawn gained momentum he started teasing spots from his past. It's one I need to watch again. It was a little slow but the pace had that methodical feeling and the bumping, especially considering this a hurt man and HHH wasn't moving like this pre-injury was off the charts.
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 I was a huge HBK mark back in the day. But the past should be left in the past, I hate seeing guys like him Hogan and Flair taking up space, and the match wasn't at all good by non-cripple standards.
Guest RicFlairGlory Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Man how the fuck can you compare HBK to Hogan and Flair? Jesus christ, have you EVER seen Hogan move half as well as HBK just did in that match? And Flair hasnt had that much in him for a while, as much as Flair/Taker is marked for He did NOT stink it up, and THATS why Hogan and Flair should go, because they cant hang or justify their spot on TV, and if you can watch that match and tell me that HBK didnt have an insanely great match, especially with all factors(injury) considered... jesus you'd be blind. They STOLE THE FUCKING SHOW. Man he STILL steals the show, and he gets shit for it. What more does he have to do?

I take it you're referring to the RR '00 HHH/Cactus match and/or NWO '00? If so, I'm inclined to agree.
Guest B-X Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Slim.. my eyes just bled reading your post.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Hogan can't take a bump. Flair can't do the Flair flip. HBK did it all tonight

Guest Mr. Slim Citrus Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Slim.. my eyes just bled reading your post. Don't tell me; you're using the the inverted skin, too? Does that work better for you?
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 You will never convince me that the macth didn't suck. The first 10 minutes were boring as shit, no one can deny that. The bumps were completely watered down compared to today's standards, both men moved like slugs, the finish was weak, and HHH just HAD to get his heat back after the match. Oh, and don't forget that HBK no-sold about 20 minutes of work to the back.
Guest WaylonMerciless Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 but you're all missing the point that the match was good........if it were just another street fight. That match could have been the most emotional match ever. Shawn could have played the injured man fighting for his life against the evil heel..........instead we get HBK doing the Rock no sell kip up. I felt disappointed cause I thought they could have put goosebumps on your arms with that match. The match was great, but loses major points in my book for missing it's total potential and giving us a match we could have seen from other stars in the WWE when we could have got a match of a lifetime. They missed the boat.........that's my opinion.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 If Rey Mysterio did those bumps it would'nt be spectacular. But this was a cripple with a fucked up back who hadn't wrestled in four years. Guys- it's okay to mark out
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Also, the HBK bladejob was the worst I have seen in my life, that little treacle was pathetic.
