Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 I have enjoyed Eric's stay in the WWE and think he's done a great job. Ratings of course do not reflect success and I'm sure Vince/Steph/HHH/JR will be making a change soon as you know they won't take the blame. So I was wondering what everyone thought of him thus far. And do you feel he has much control over his character and skits?
Guest Cubbie78 Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 I dont think he has much control at all, but Bisch has always been great at playing the smarmy heel and I think hes pulled that off so far wonderfuly...someone said about a week ago that he was the best commisioner/GM role player theyve ever had, and its damn close....Three minutes was/is a great idea, now only if they like actually do something else as a payoff...sigh..but thats not his fault...
Guest chirs3 Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Bischoff owns Raw. Well, he co-owns it with RVD and BookDust. He is 33% of why I watch.
Guest notJames Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 True, he plays his character well... but I guess I just don't like the character he's playing. I don't mean "Oooh I hate Bischoff because he's a conniving, manipulative bastard etc." I mean, I just think the sleazy GM/Commissioner/President is a boring concept. The McMahon/Austin feud pretty much closed the book on just how much can be done with the angle, and I for one wouldn't shed a tear if they scrapped the dueling GMs idea and/or got rid of Bischoff altogether. What's more, they can't even figure out which GM is the face/heel and have them portray it faithfully. Bischoff's all about pleasing the fans, but at the expense of the wrestlers. Steph can't seem to please anyone. sigh... maybe another steroid trial is what the WW_ needs to kick it back into high gear...
Guest DJ Jeff Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 I like Bischoff as GM of RAW. He portrays a good heel, possibly one of the best. The best would be Flair, by the way. Anyways, he makes RAW that much more entertaining, which is the main reason I watch RAW every week. Now, if only he was the Owner of the WWE. Then, I'd watch every show.
Guest Choken One Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Bischoff does make up for alot of dead time that is on Raw...He plays to the smarks but goes against the marks...I'm glad he has NO real control over RAW or we'd see more TBS/HHH classics.
Guest The Superstar Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 He is so much better than Vince. I love the guy. And his picture at the end of the WWE opening is genius.
Guest razazteca Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 his 3 minutes are up Bischoff always patting his heart/chest and that annoying smirk are getting to be too much. It is becoming predictable that whenever he comes out the Island boys will nearly kill some helpless woman or bystandard. Bischoff > Vince but Ric Flair or DDP could do it better
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Bischoff > Vince but Ric Flair or DDP could do it better Flair, possibly. DDP? Nope.
Guest razazteca Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 what about Flair as owner and Paige as commish it would be more entertaining than Bishoff with the Island Boys
Guest DJ Jeff Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Bischoff as Owner and Flair as Commissioner would be something to see. Hey, it might just be more entertaining than now.
Guest Strike Force! Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 I'm on the opposing side of this. I HATE wrestlers as GMs/owners, etc. They're boring. They just take on the same persona, and it's boring. I basically like Bischoff. I had a problem with him in WCW because there was just too much of him, and he would book himself into matches and it was sort of stupid. But I always liked him in his feud with Piper, when he was revealed to be the brains behind the nWo. And from what I read from the Smackdown Spoilers..................... *Spoiler* I kind of dig the idea of his interrupting the gay wedding for a "Your 3 minutes are Up" deal. Not bad at all.
Guest Olympic Slam Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 what about Flair as owner and Paige as commish it would be more entertaining than Bishoff with the Island Boys Commissioner DDP............might as well just tell the fans to switch over to Monday Night Football
Guest deadbeater Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 I liked the development of his character, although the HLA segment was not one of his best. He is currently untouchable. I will like it so much better when there is a possibility that he will get his ass kicked, his hair will turn White again, the women wrestlers gang up on him, and other goodies.
Guest Leena Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 I really like how Eric plays his character, but he's still on way too much. Non-wrestlers should never be the main part of the show.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 FUCKING LOVE HIM. Compared to steph or not, he's the greatest.
Guest papacita Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Bischoff is the ONLY reason I watch Raw right now...well...and Trish, but that's a diff...nevermind. He's great at the character he plays.
Guest JMTapes Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 He's basically the only guy who entertains me other than Nowinski and Van Dam. -JM www.jmtapes.com
Guest BlackRainbow1025 Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Bischoff is a natural heel. I mean, the fans love to hate him. I personally get a kick out of him. The 3 minutes angle was great, but now has gone a tad too long. Something has to be done with this angle. I hope there is some sort of payoff. Again, this is not Bischoff's fault either way b/c it's not his doing, he's just an on-air talent. Either way, he's a better heel than most of the federation so they should keep him in some fashion.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Bischoff and Eddy Guerrero are two of the best at playing that sleazeball heel. I love Eddy, but his character is such a douchebag, and he does it so well! Bischoff is the same way, and he's one of the few reasons I'm watching Raw: -RVD -Jericho -Island Boyz -Storm and Christian (I would say the UnAmericans, but that groups Test in there) -Flair, to a certain extent -HHH (I don't hate him, sometimes he's OK) -Booker/Goldust -Bischoff
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 I think as an actual guy he's a complete dweeb (Gold Club case.. It was "a blur" to be in a threesome with your wife and a stripper? You don't say!) but as an in-ring performer he's quite good.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Bischoff, Booker, and Jericho are the ONLY reasons I put up with RAW, so he must be doing a good job.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Bisch: Best Owner Ever. Vince stayed on too long, Steph sucks, Flair sucked. Granted, the "evil owner" is played out..but Bish's sleazeball act rules.
Guest TheRockIsTheEuropeanChampion Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 I adore Bischoff and the way he plays his character. Of course, it's probably close to the way he is... But he's terribly entertaining. I didn't actually watch that HLA segment on Monday, but I did listen to it. Eric made it seem a lot better (and far more dirty) than it actually was. Good man. I remember when he was a wussy announcer in WCW that got beat up by Hall & Nash... Those were the days.
Guest jester Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 I think Bischoff's character is done well. He acts like a heel that doesn't know he's a heel. A natural asshole who thinks that everyone loves him, and just can't seem to hear the boos. I think he's missing a foil though. They need a face to work off him. Not necessarly feud like Austin/Mcmahon, but someone who stands up to him and aggravates him. So far nobody's hardly insulted him. The three minutes thing was good, but they need to go somewhere with it. Right now it's more of the same. The Islanders also look like they'd make a good monster tag team, and when was the last time we saw a credible tag anything? Of course, they're on the show without the tag belts, but hey...
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 I have thoroughly enjoyed Bischoff's works as the GM of Raw. When he first came in I was aghast that WWE had come to terms with him, but I've done a total 180 since then. Scarily enough I could see Uncle Eric getting over as a face despite WWE trying to get Stephanie over as such.
Guest NoCalMike Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 I prefer Bischoff over Vince as the heel boss because Vince just got stale so quick, because there was nothing ever different about his antics....He threatened this and that and it was all so cheezy. At least Bischoff has brought some excitement, and something new....I think the 3 minute thing was good but if it is not contained properly it could be on the verge of staleness. If they cut back on his time a tad and just kept the backstage stuff not coming down to the ring for 2 segments a night.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 So far so good, although the 3 minutes on his 3 minutes routine is just about up... WARNING! VERY DILUTED SPOILER BUT BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY... I read Smackdown spoilers and am actually looking forward to it, somewhat...
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Easy E rules! But he should have left his hair gray, instead of dying it black. He was much cooler with the gray hair!
Guest DARRYLXWF Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Easy E rules! But he should have left his hair gray, instead of dying it black. He was much cooler with the gray hair! Gotta disagree. The black hair makes him look more dominant
