With Eddy getting chants and a standing O...

With Eddy getting more and more "Eddy" chants in recent weeks and the standing ovation he got at Smackdown, do you think it's possible that he will turn face and NOT Angle or Benoit as first suspected? (Or maybe two will turn, but that doesn't matter) And if Eddy does turn, will Vince actually push him to the top, or will he pull the same shit that he has been doing all year, and refuse to do anything with him, opting instead to throw him in a no where program with Angle (Good matches, but still doesn't squat for both guys) or Benoit (OH MY GOD, but still, useless in the long run). Or will Eddy just stay heel?

I totally disagree with your theory of Eddie Vs Angle/Benoit would do nothing for none of them. Those three guys lately have been getting alot of respect from the crowds. Let them continue to impress the live crowds and Vince will have no opition but to push them. They will become fan favorites.

Unless of course, WWE goes with it's usual self and just when their really getting over, they throw them to Taker and let him squash them and steal their heat.

If Vince doesn't want to push them, he WON'T push them, and it's obvious that he doesn't, because they're SMALL~! he'll just continue to put them in matches against each other as a way of doing jackshit with them while not making the smarks too mad.

Nah, they've already jobbed those guys to UT, next they'll job them all out to Lesnar.

I don't think Vince would ever really push a smallish Mexican guy as a top draw. Eddie has also been a career upper midcard type guy. I think Rey has this same problem if not more so.....he's over enough to be a top face but he really is too small to ever push as a heavyweight champ.

Another option: Double turn with Edge.

Still going no where, though.

You could do an Edge/Eddy "mutual respect" angle, and have Benoit and Chavo question Eddy's allegiance, leading to a tag feud.

Honestly, if they play this right, Eddy could be THE top face on Smackdown, above even homegrown boy Edge and Rey Mysterio. Part of me doesn't want that to happen though, because he'd just have to job to Brock eventually.

UGH. Good matches, terrible sounding lower midcard type feud.

If Eddie ever actually beat Lesnar I would mark out for days on end. I'd love it.

Eddy has the facial expressions to make you sympathise with him, and if he were ever to go face, he could be bigger than even RVD's growing cult following.

I just hope Eddy gets up to the main events soon, he really deserves it.

Well, according to Vince (at the stock meeting) they judge who should get a push based on crowd reactions. That must be a new policy because of certain wrrestlers who have gotten massive pushes without any crowd reaction. But, I digress.

If Vince is serious about that then Eddie will get pushed. I'd love to see Eddie as Champ. Face or Heel it doesn't matter. IMO he is the most complete worker in the WWE right now. He's above the CW division. So the only place for him to go would be to the top.

That being said JR talked about how great of a team Eddie and Chavo are. So they'll probably get suck in a meaningless feud with Billy and Chuck or Rikishi and fill in the blank on a show with no tag titles. They're talking about teaming D-Von and Faarooq also so maybe they're thinking about creating SD tag titles.

What a crock of bullshit!

If I was at that press conference I would have asked him to explain The Brock push vs the Angle push then.

What if it's Trips, or Edge, hmm ;)?

I don't know about the Smackdown Tag Titles idea. First this week we hear about how Billy Gunn is unhappy, and they may split the team up, then we hear how Billy and Chuck are getting major face support. Ross is a walking contradiction a lot of times, so I take his reports with a grain of salt. The only thing that troubles me about Eddy going face would be leaving Chavo in the dust. They were finally using him in a meaningful way, and I wouldn't want them to drop his push.

Eddy usualy gets good Heel Heat. They've been in California lately which has a large Lation Population which could explain the Eddy Chants. If he gets a good Pop next week then they should turn him face.

the last guy was right, as much as Eddy RULEZ~ it, he's only getting big pops because the're going up and down the California coast right now.

Something tells me an Alabama crowd is not going to start cheering for a guy who has "Latino Heat" on his tights.

The forgieners are heels for a reason, you know. If Rey didn't have a mask, he might get booed too.

But you see, I'm actively trying to get Alabama expelled from the Union anyway, so it won't matter!

This is true. Eddie did get major face heat in Oakland this past summer just because he is a latino.

But there was hardly anyone chanting for him the first time around, they definately warmed up to him.

they actually expect to Push Rey for the WOrld title.... They aren't gonna use him for the Cruiserweights, that makes me sad, a world class Cruiser and they mis use him. SCREW Vince and everyone Named Vince!

Eddie isn't as small as he was on other promotions, he Bucked up to a Randy Savage Build. If he continues to get the reaction they might push him up to the top, (If vince tells the truth he follows the fan reactions)

Rey would be wasted as Cruiser champion. He could be a great IC champ.

Posted

But if he's matching up with the big guys it defeats the purpose of bringing him in. He was brought in to kickstart the division. Plus, having Rey up there isn't going to help him at all, because the IC title gets little, if any, respect from anyone and being stuck in mid-card hell when you could be the feature of a kick-ass division is not going to help. Plus, they hardly understand how to put "small" guys like Eddie, Angle, and Benoit, let alone a guy of Mysterio's size.

thats why I believe they are purposely trying to devalue the Cruiserweight division. they throw cruisers vs Heavyweights, prolong Cruiserweight title matches, don't even make contenders. its all because Vince don't know how to push the division, and doesn't listen to anyone that knows. Remember he had the Light weight title for decades, and instead of dealing with it, he shipped it out to the Foreign promotions, letting it float from Mexico to Japan.

Rey would not Main Event. HHH would never let it happen. He'd bitch to Steph that Rey cant work a Main Event and can only do High Spots. Yep we all know you cant be a Main Eventer without a Sleeper or a Spinebuster.

or a clothesline BY GAWD~!

They won't push Eddy to the top, even though he has the tools to take the take spot, IMO.

Rey can and should main event...the reason why everyone loves the cruisers is that they provide great, fun matches. There is no point having WWE follow the WCW style of cruisers, where they have an incredibly hot PPV opener and then have a bunch of old heavyweights punch and kick for 20 mins in the main event.

I'd much rather have so-called cruisers like Eddy/Benoit/Jericho pushed to the main, in the it provides wicked matches, a million times better than crap like HoganvsPiper or some such bs.

I think the cruiser division deserves a big time push, but cruisers who are always way up near main-event shouldn't bother with the division. Keep the younger guys in the division, and when they "break out" so to speak, move then up in the card. See Hurricane...the guy *was* massively over (before WWE decided to job him out) and he could easily get that over again, and now he can since he's in a meaningful angle with an over upper midcard/main event guy (and a HOSS bah gawd).

So I say use the cruiser division as a stepping stone for good, small wrestlers to get over. Once they're over and legit, start moving them up the card. I'd be happy if Rey/Eddy headlined a Wrestlemania at some point...it's a slim chance, but it won't happen if Rey rots in the cruiser division.

While I've warmed up to cruiser matches, the whole idea of a division around that still irks me. A guy like Rey shouldn't be confined to a division that basically screams "We're to little to challenge the big guys, so we might as well do this"

Like I've said, if you allow people to develop and grow in their own little thing that can be draws on their own. Treat them with respect. Look at Liger in Japan.

In Japan people like Benoit Angle Jericho Rey and Eddy would be huge. They love actual wrestling in Japan not Sports Entertainment. In North America we have a shit load of Marks who think that Undertaker, HHH, and Hogan are the greatest Wrestlers ever.

Ahh yes, the old "fans in Japan love actual wrestling and not sports entertainment" argument. That sure explains the pushes for horrible "shooters" like Yasuda, or people like the Giants. And what's that big match headlining an NJPW show? Chono vs. Chyna, isn't it?

I find it hard to understand that Latino crowds would cheer a guy who only PLAYS one.

I mean, he is partly Mexican (see name, family history), but he doesn't really have the accent or even the real general look of a Latino man.

Maybe it's just me..
