Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 If anything proved that Vince doesn't want Angle to main event, last night sure as hell did. I mean really, Angle (The supposed main eventer of wrestlemania) faced a man that the announcers sold as near dead from last week. Edge proceded to dominate a good portion of the match, pin Angle clean twice, have another clean visual win during a ref bump, kick out of the Angle Slam, escape the ankle lock (twice) block the pop up suplex, make him look like a bumbling moron (Duh...If I swing this big metal thing at these bouncy things, what will happen?) and pin him with the stupidest "finisher" in wrestling. I'm not even blaming Edge anymore. Someone on that writing team has it in for Angle. I'm personally leaning towards Heyman, because Angle has done jackshit since the spit.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 Don't worry, Angle will get a push eventually, and win the WWE Title. We'll probably have to wait until Wrestlemania 19 for that to happen, though.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 You're supposed to make them look credible before the Road to Wrestlemania. Angle is right back on a gigantic losing streak as well as feuding with benoit for no reason.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 (Grandpa Simpson on) Oh bitch, bitch, bitch!! Really though, come on. Just wait for Angle to win the title(from Lesnar no less) and calm down. Worrying this much at your age can't be good. The Road to Wrestlemania doesn't start until the Royal Rumble anyway. Would you rather they kept Angle off of television until then? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge

Must he lose every week and be made a fool of until then when he suddenly stops sucking?
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 Angle doesn't need a push to be over as threatening in the fans' eyes. Maybe you need to reexamine the importance of the win-loss record, as it's really rather markish to care about this and ignore how much people love the guy. He could seriously lose 75% of his matches between now and Wrestlemania and STILL be massively over as whatever he wanted to me. It's a testament to his talents that WWE's inability to make him look like a killer is negligible. Even when they had him in a freaking wig he was taken seriously despite being a comedic character. Someone can be a dangerous dork, your favorite Vinnie Mac said so himself. The point is that no matter how much he looks like an idiot or is booked to be a loser, he could win the title tomorrow and the fans would accept it as perfectly legitimate. I seriously think your problem is patience. All you need to do is WAIT, DAMMIT. It won't be long, and if they want to have him look credible by Wrestlemania, they'll start making him look like even more of a threat by January at the latest. Until then, some harmless matches with Benoit and the Smackdown All Stars for our amusement are fine with me. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Brian Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 I could have sworn we have three full months before January even begins.

Angle is OVER, not viewed as a threat. Tajiri is very over. No one thinks he'll win the title. Part of the problem is that every single time Angle is matched up against a guy on his level, (Edge) over it (Undertaker) or a little under it (Bob Holly) he comes up looking like an incompeteant bumbling fool. He'll always be over, but he's NEVER been booked a someone who could win the WWF title on a moments notice like Austin or HHH. I seriously think your problem is patience. All you need to do is WAIT, DAMMIT. It won't be long, and if they want to have him look credible by Wrestlemania, they'll start making him look like even more of a threat by January at the latest. I've waited all year. Every time he starts to look like a threat, he loses to Mark Henry. They need one sustained push, not one that gets cut off every time he outshines your current project (Brock, right now) Until then, some harmless matches with Benoit and the Smackdown All Stars™ for our amusement are fine with me. If an enormous waste of time for everyone involved.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 I could have sworn we have three full months before January even begins. And...?
Guest Brian Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 They have three months, three more pay per view matches, just to get him into position to be a threat for the title.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 They have three months, three more pay per view matches, just to get him into position to be a threat for the title. Do it now. Wrestling fans have short memories. If you start making him look credible in January, fans will remember that this was the guy who couldn't beat a dead Edge. If they make him credible from now (Probably should have been all year) fans might not remember 6 months back. Oh, and those three PPVs. I'm sure one of them will be a stupid tag match with Benoit, one will be the conclusion of the feud for no reason, and one will probably be Edge. ALL midcard matches.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 While I'll agree that Angle should be on a hot streak to make a better build up, right now, its not super duper important, atleast in wwf booking terms...i mean they care month to month, to 3 months in advace, which is really really stupid. But look at it this way, Edge just got bumped up a notch and will now be held down by HHH, which will cause HHH's powers to be spread more thinly, which means hes got a better chance of loosing control and someone will break through the glass ceiling. YEAH! It made Edge look good, and Angle = Rock in terms of being over, he needs to say something and boom, hes back over, it didnt hurt Angle at all. Its just helping Edge move up.
Guest Brian Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 "Do it now. Wrestling fans have short memories. If you start making him look credible in January, fans will remember that this was the guy who couldn't beat a dead Edge." That's contradictory. Unless they're reminded, people won't remember what happened on a TV show three months ago. They might remember the outcome a month later, but unless reminded they'll probably have forgotten the details. He went from Shane McMahon in KOTR of 2001 to a serious conetender within two months. It might take a face turn to erase the memories, but if Angle gets to play a different, more fitting character and gets in the main events I'm all for it.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 But if they have short memories, by the time Wrestlemania rolls around, they'll remember only the Royal Rumble onwards, during which time he WILL be a threat. Wrestlemania isn't tomorrow, don't sweat it yet. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 Didn't hurt Angle now, because he's still in TFFNR. But long run, when he's chasing the title, someone might remember "Hey, didn't that guy lose every big match he had last year?"

Guest Angle-plex Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 Have you guys realized that Edge is getting the push Angle should be getting if WWE plans on him going to WrestleMania's main event? We don't know WWE wants Angle in the Wrestlemania Main Event anyways. Wrestlemania X-9: Brock vs Edge
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 Wouldn't an Edgehead love that main event? How did you get that subtitle anyway? There's no way you did it to yourself. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Brian Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 It doesn't seem like it. Edge is getting no momentum.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 It doesn't seem like it. Edge is getting no momentum. Has has momentum. He's the only guy that's actually winning. That's as close as you get. And Angle has less momentum. Every time he gets going, he gets stopped for outshining Brock.
Guest Trivia247 Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 Seems Vince wanted to prove that Angle is a sucker puncher too. obviously they won't be pushing Angle main event wise for a while if they are gonna do the Benoit Angle tag team like they did the Jericho Benoit team a few months ago.
Guest Brian Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 But Edge can never go anywhere with it. He wins, but his character never develops, and people never care more. And he hasn't exactly been moving up the ladder.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 That's because the Edge character sucks.
Guest cabbageboy Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 That's true. Edge beats people, but it seems like his opponent gets more over than he does. Angle got more over (oddly) by having his head shaved. I remember vividly that he got his head shaved and wore a goofy wig, and it was entertaining. I barely recall that he was feuding with Edge at the time. Edge is kinda like playing the computer on a wrestling game. He's just sorta there. I've always liked him pretty well, but he's leagues beneath his awesome run with Christian. In terms of entertainment I mean. I actually like his original brooding goth persona better than his bland dork persona now. I am STILL waiting for a resolution to Edge and Gangrel. Heh, maybe as a joke just bring Gangrel back for a one time deal on SMDN and have Edge squash him. At least he wouldn't be squashing Angle or Eddie.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 Edge's problem is nothing is ever portrayed as a challenge to edge. You can't climb the ladder if no one ranks higher than you.
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 heh, nice sub-title AS. You have seen the light!
Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 And Because of my high post count and status as ESTABLISHED POSTER~! I have been placed in charge of the Edge Army. You report to me. MWAHAHAHA ::coughing fit:: HAHAHAHA
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 Speaking of controlling people, is that little contract with you and her up yet? I mean, it's a little weird when a dude in his mid-20s is effectively owning a teenage girl. I think I'm more suited to the task. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Anglesault Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 She's set to turn on you any day now. And I never controled her!
