Ha!

(flips Anglesault off British style, tells him to piss off, and runs off with CC to the Battle Royal thread if AS wants to beef about this)

I'm not even blaming Edge anymore.

As well you shouldn't, as by that logic, I can blame Angle for the Alliance's loss of crediblilty last year.

No, I blamed Edge because I figured he was just too stupid to do anything but SpearDork.

Yeah, I personally think the best version of Edge was the preBrood/Brood version. The best example, if memory serves correctly, was the mixed tag match at Summerslam 98. Edge teamed with Sable against Mero and Jackie-- the match itself sucked ass, but Edge's character was cool. He came in through the crowd with "You think you know me," did his stuff in the ring and left immediately after. No posing, no emotion-- like a silent ninja without the ninja powers, just perfect teeth.

Damn, remember the bloodbaths? Those were awesome-- especially when Shamrock caught Christian midact.

I never thought E&C were funny as the cocky team-- their comedy came off cheesy like Foley's. As a matter of fact, I didn't think Foley was funny either. I was one of those demented guys who would just be like, "Jump off something, funny man!" Shortened career? Yes. Hundreds of holy shit moments? Yes. Miss him now? Yes.

I don't think about Angle's misuse much, WWE has fcuked so much stuff up, I figure Angle will land on his feet no matter what. He's a better version of Flair, then and now. It's hard to look at Edge, or any other Attitude midcarder, as a main eventer. I've seen them as midcarders for so long, that nothing else really makes sense. That's why the New Blood of Brock, Cena, Angle, etc. are easier to accept as headliners, I'm not use to seeing them in pointless midcard and undercard matches so they are fresh. That's why I'm worried about Jericho, Benoit, Eddie, etc. Can they get past the fan's stigma?

well, at least anglesault's not blaming edge's wrestling ability anymore.

but he is still under this strange delusion that no matter what angle does, it somehow buries him. i said it before, i'll say it again: smackdown this week was the kurt angle show, he got between 30 and 40 minutes of air time and was in five segments. his feud with benoit is not only the most over on the show, it's the feud the writers & bookers are paying the most attention to. edge didn't win cleanly, benoit cost him the victory. wrestling-wise and booking-wise, it's not gonna get much better for your boy than this. as of this week, angle IS smackdown.

Angle was made to look like a tool in that match. And Benoit didn't touch him. Angle hit himself with a chair. They could have at least done a distraction/roll up instead of making Angle look like a retard. Plus, it would have helped it everyone of his finishers wasn't no sold

Yeah I agree, Angle did look like a tool there. When he conked himself with the chair I thought to myself "what a tool."

I know that we are still a ways from WM, but I think Angle needs building up right now. He still gets "What"-ed when he cuts promos. The audience doesn't view or respect the man. They don't care about what he has to say because he's seen in a bad light.(see:dork)

The only reason I can see Angle not being built as a legit, money drawing threat to Lesnar is because Vince is waiting to see if he can get Austin or Goldberg in before the new year. For now he's just spinning his wheels. The problem with that is if he waits to long and neither guy signs on, it may be too late to try to get Angle in WM headlining status.

One thing that isn't mentioned is how the announcers portray Angle. Both Tazz and Cole openly admit he is a one of a kind athlete. It's not like they call him a bumbling idiot or a cheat to win type of guy, etc. They give him credibility by what they say about him, and actually 9 out of 10 times he backs it up in the ring.

Consider also how when he wins, how it is laid out. He usually wins clean, and as a heel in his position, thats saying something. They had him beat Rey clean a few times, Hogan clean, and it's not like they've let Edge completely make him look like shit. That match last night was very well done in actually helping both guys, as for all the times Edge kicked out of Angle's stuff, Angle did the same to Edge.

And when Angle does lose, in at least half of the occasions, he actually loses by screwjob, and this is again, as a heel. Look at Unforgiven for example.

I personally don't see Angle's credibility damaged at all from what's happened lately, in fact I would still easily consider him a world champ contender. It's not like he was used this year like Flair was or anything. Heyman keeps Angle protected to points to make sure when the time is right he'll be a credible challenger to Lesnar. In fact I think they are still slowly building up Angle as a face too. My feelings on that is it won't take long at all to make Angle a face really, look at last time, in a matter of a 2 week span he went from a comedy clown heel to a credible face threat to the title. They can do it again.

The WHAT and YOU SUCK chants really don't reflect the audience not respecting him, my god, did you see Unforgiven? They fucking applauded Benoit and Angle left and right. It's just the bandwagon thing to be a part of at the live shows.

remember when Rock hit himself with a chair in the Last Man Standing match with ManKind?

Someone should beat Edge with a chair until he's bloody. Then he'll get all weird, cut his hair short and wrap electrical tape around his head, quote Dante's Inferno a lot and attack people for no reason. I'd watch.
