Perry Saturn and DDP are gone

- Perry Saturn was officially released this past week. The decision to let him go was made while he was injured but he will be made for the remainder of his contract which is set to expire in January. In an ironic twist, when Saturn and the others came from WCW nearly three years ago, Vince wanted them to sign for five years but they opted for three figuring that salaries and the business would continue to escalate.

- Diamond Dallas Page's contract with WWE has been mutually terminated due to the fact that he's likely finished with wrestling for good and was not interested in becoming an commentator or working a similar role with the company.

- There have been no calls made by Steve Austin to WWE or vice versa. Austin is apparently under the assumption that he is suspended and has repeatedly said that he has no idea about his wrestling future. WWE bookers are proceeding as if Austin will not be with the company any time soon but most believe that with business doing so terribly that sooner or later, the call will be made by WWE to Austin.

Did they fire him over the phone or by FedEx? THAT is the true measure of how much like WCW this company has become.

Well, they did wait for him to heal from the injury before doing it. And he has been injured for about ... forever... by my watch. So, I'm not seeing the WCW connection there. And I'm really not going to miss seeing Saturn if I never see him again.

I can see why they released DDP - If he didn't want to be a commentator (which I think he would be good at) what else is there for him to do if he can't wrestle? A manager maybe. But as I said release him and sign up some new talent.

Saturn on the other hand I'm suprised at - I think with maybe Kanyon or Bill Demott or even Raven he could have been added to the Tag ranks.

Saturn is released but you still have Godfather, Bossman, Albert, Henry (ect) employed by the company.

Weird thinking on the WWE's part.

I would cut The Godfather, Bossman(I think though he is training in OVW) and even Scotty Too Hotty, Crash and Hardcore Holly and sign up half a dozen decent Crusierweights for Smackdown. Also if Haku and Balckman are still employed cut them loose too.

Like That is ever gonna happen.

Saturn comes to no surprise since he was always injured and really offered little to the company, Somewhat shocked Page didn't want to stay as a Road Agent or even Commentator.

Who is next? Godfather willl likely be on the chopping blocks and maybe some other deadweights.

Bossman won't go anywhere, very tight with Vince. S2H is a great certain jerk house show draw....

Blackman was shipped some time ago against Shane's wishes...Hear he is doing some Shoot Wrestling stuff and Haku is vacant...might still be around as a Trainer or something...would not dare fire him....Might be the 3rd most legit fighter after Brock and Angle in WWE.

Godfather's been with the company forever so I don't see Vince cutting him loose.

I think Haku has like a 3 yr contract or something

I used to be at total Haku mark around 90 / 92 (although all his wins were against jobbers)

I can't remember the last time he was on TV though and unless he is some trainer capacity, they should cut him and sign new, fresher talent.

Scotty 2 Hotty's Gimmick is very old and like Crash doesn't fit with the other criuserweigths and if not in that division they are just jobbers. I know Scotty is over with the crowd but i'd still cut him and sign some more exciting Criuserweights.

But this is all by the by as it will never happen.

Yer right, besides, I doubt Godfather has a huge contract and is always good for a random pop when they need to awaken the crowd...

I think Godfather is good as a curtain jerker on house shows personally.

He can come out and do his catchphrases and whatever and the crowd will be all fired up

How old is Haku anyway he has been around for years.

Was watching WrestleMania 2 the other day (What A Shit Show) and he was in the Battle Royal.

I think he was called King Tonga?? He was one of the first two out.

He has to be about 51. I believe after Flair, he is the oldest performer...Maybe even older then Hogan.

51!!!!!!!

Wow he doesn't look it. He has looked the same, face wise for the past 10 years though.

Samoans are known to Never aged for awhile...Which gives a HUGE advantage for Rock.

Page was robbing WcW for years, plus he's getting older. He doesn't need the money. I'd stay home with Kimberly too if I was him.

Yea- Afa still looks somewhat young.

DDP and Kimberly moved to Atlanta for acting careers.

Well yes, but I thought he loved the boys and the sport...esp with Bisch there...could have gotten a cushy role on the writing sqaud....YES i know Bisch has ZERO power...but still.

However, shiiit...stuck with a Falling company hitting rock bottom or hitting Kim's Bottom? Damn, tough choice.

Atlanta is a Hollywood town? What acting job will they get there other then Rap videos? Oughta move to California, with hills, Beverly Hills that is.

Kind of ironic that DDP was just on Tough Enough last night. I don't really care about Saturn too much, but I think DDP would have been better suited for the GM role instead of either Bischoff or Stephanie.

No because in the end, Page would eventfully become a caricreture of Bischoff.

I'm a huge DDP fan so I would've liked seeing him be general manager.

I don't think he'd be like Eric just b/c he prob would've been a face.

From the observer-

Q: So how are you adjusting to retired life?

Page: “I just want to go onto the next phase of my life. I’ve moved out to L.A. to literally follow Kimberly’s dream. She wants to be an actress. She’s wanted be out here the last three years, but we couldn’t because of me. There’s nowhere near the same kind of medical people that helped put me together out here, or at least I don’t know where there are. Plus, all the East-West travel would kill me. But when it came down to me retiring, I asked her whether she wanted do this and if she did to go out and find us some place to live. She did, and we’ve been out here a couple of months now. I had talked to WWE about becoming a commentator, which is something I would love to do at some point. But with us living out here and doing the whole acting thing, it would have been brutal. Plus, I needed to get away for a while to help myself adjust and adapt to my new situation.”

Good, I hate Saturn.

Agreed.

Can't stand DDP either, though. No big loss on my end. ;p

2 days late, and i knew it already, but FUCK. fuck them all, hiring that cocksucker steiner, pushing Shawn fucking Michaels, and getting rid of Perry Motherfucking Saturn. Unbelievable.

I bet DDP will keep a good relationship with the WWE, just in case the acting thing doesn't workout, he could probably take a postition as a road agent.

As for Saturn, I bet the WWE is looking at what exactly he has accomplished in his WWE tenure. He had heat when he was a Radical but as soon as they had to stick him with Terri, he was done for. His gimmicks became lame and he wasn't given the proper chance to show what he can do in the ring.

When WWE first signed Saturn I thought they could really do something with him. Then as time passed I realized they weren't going to do anything with him. I really can't belame them because he never really clicked with the fans. The only time he was truly over was in ECW with Kronus.

Posted

Kind of sad, but I didn't see him going much of anywhere sitting in the WWE backroom. He'll be better off if he goes somewhere else.

Since we are cutting people, I think we need to flush out the midcard. Keep the newer, fresher midcarders (i.e. Dreamer, Palumbo, Matt Hardy), and just cut the others off for good (i.e. Bradshaw, Gunn, Bossman, Credible, etc.).

Because, frankly, I'm getting sick of seeing them.

I'm pretty sure Haku is only in his early-mid 40's. I'm sure there's somewhere you could find out, though.

Haku is 10 years younger than Flair and 6 years younger than Hogan.

Haku is 43.
