Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Although the storyline on Smackdown seems to indicate an Undertaker/Nathan Jones vs. Big Show/A Train tag match at Wrestlemania, that might not actually be the match signed for the PPV. Around this time every year, Undertaker begins to lobby for a singles win to keep his Wrestlemania winning streak alive. Taker uses his pull in with management each Wrestlemania to make sure his streak is intact. If Taker did get a singles match, it would be either against A-Train or the Big Show, or against a hastily turned Nathan Jones. credit: Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Maybe it'll be a 3 on 1 Albert/Show/Jones vs Taker match. Cause every year they have to say "this is Taker's toughest challenge ever. The streak lives.
Guest converge241 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 maybe Paul Bearer should return and bring back those 10 or 11 guys who shoved Taker in the casket for the (almost) 10th anniversary of that (minus Yoko RIP of course) and they can push that as "THE BIGGEST BOOGER RED CHALLENGER *echo* EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Guest Trivia247 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Actually a Tag win is just as good as a Singles win... a win is a Win.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 But the streak is to help the guy who beats Taker... HONEST~! "You know Vince, my arm really hurts, my legs are killin me, my lower back ain't what it used to me, and quite frankly, my head ain't in the game any more... I think I might just call it quits." -Taker, a week before WM 21.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Is that before or after he loses his smile...
Guest notJames Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 None of this is news. This has been the status quo for quite some time now. I'd write more on how unproductive and unprofessional his behaviour is, but "I'm not feeling it." I hope Nathan Jones legitimately snaps on Taker. If he can really kick down a prison cell door, I can only imagine how much an aging hip or neck will give.
Guest Trivia247 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Well put it in some perspectives.... the streak is great and whomever beats him will probably be some Main eventer Squasher turned World champion material.... But Undertaker isn't a HBK calibur of egomania, he doesn't get Main Events constantly as was HBK in his hayday. Taker last world championship run lasted 3 or so months, lost to Rock then he went on to do Mid card feuds, without much complaint before the World title run he was back in the midcard and curtain jerk beginning matches. Could be the bookers ideas which the Taker runs with.
Guest teke184 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Is that before or after he loses his smile... I thought being forsaken from the main events for the Vanilla Midgets in 2001 caused him to lose his smile... he just handled it in a different way from HBK. Instead of faking an injury, he just started burying everyone in his path.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 At Wrestlemania 30, he will come out of retirement for the gimmick battle royale and toss out the Iron Shiek to keep his streak alive. He will then have a limp contest with the Shiek to see who can get to the back quicker.

This is off-topic, but was the reason the Iron Sheik won the gimmick battle royal because he couldn't go over the top rope, lest be be injured or die from said injury?
Guest BionicRedneck Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Taker/Jones vs. Albet/Show could easily be the worst wrestling match of all time.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 I don't know. I've suffered through Taker/Kane vs Kronik. But it'll definitely be up there.
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Taker/Jones vs. Albet/Show could easily be the worst wrestling match of all time. I'm calling it now at -***1/2
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 JR must be REALLY REALLY REALLY pissed off at the fact that if that tag match does take place... Michael Cole will announce it... "Bah Gawd Albert is such a Hoss. Shuddup King.. I mean Tazz.. Nathan Jones is crazier than a pet... kangaroo..."

And that 2 month "midcard feud" over the title with Brock (where he flatly refused to put him over the first time because he "wasn't feeling it") sure was midcard all right. And by "lost to the Rock" you must mean "had Angle take the fall in the three way". Then he took time off for injuries before returning to be the second last man left in the Rumble and then start politicing his way into his Mania set-up.
Guest Steviekick Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 I don't mind if Undertaker keeps the streak for this year. Big Show and A-Train are really going no where anyway, so why have them end it only to stink up another main event push? It's also too early for Nathan Jones to get such a victory.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 I don't care if he wins either. Taker is a nonfactor in wrestling today and in the future. None of those people is worth any kind of run at this point anyway.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 If he's beating talentless jackoffs like Albert or Big Show I'd want him to keep the steak...I'd like to see him lose to a guy next year who's on the way up though.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 I agree. However as the years go by I'm starting to think this "up and comer" doesn't actually exhist.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Remember when Edge had a backstage confrontation with HHH on SD! last year? And HHH put Edge in his place and did his usual "you're not in my league" "Go win some world titles and then talk to me" rap? And we all thought that HHH would end up putting Edge over? And then he jumped to RAW instead and the burial was for nothing? Good times.

I remember that...while it was kind of confusing what the point of it even was, it did provide a great quote. · HHH "You know - while I admire your...guts and bravado...to come out here and get in my face - why don't you go back and win a couple o' world titles before you decide to jump on The Game. All right, pal?" · Edge "Well, I guess I could take the Triple H way to the top - marry the boss' daughter and sleep my way to the world championship, couldn't I?"
Guest Coffey Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the tag match did happen. Then Nathan Jones can turn on Taker @ mania, cost him his streak, and set up a one on one match between the two.
Guest jester Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the tag match did happen. Then Nathan Jones can turn on Taker @ mania, cost him his streak, and set up a one on one match between the two. As an angle it's not bad. You hype up the fact that Taker has never been beaten at WM. Then have Jones do something like refuse to tag in after Taker has been beaten down, leaving him at the mercy of the heels. Of course that's not enough and Taker fights back (we are talking about the Underseller here), but Jones finally attacks Taker outright. Taker can be super pissed and seek vengeance. Of course, the matches will all suck, but the angle isn't too bad. I don't think Taker will allow though. If anything, Jones almost costs Taker the match, and the feud starts.
Guest AndrewTS Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 I was at the SD tapings tonight, and looks like the tag match is still on for Mania. They hyped it up during the show and had a promo with Nathan/Taker where Nathan rocked back and forth like Mankind.
Guest edotherocket Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 If Taker leaves it too long, whoever finally beats him won't look as good as he should because Taker will be in his mid-forties. That said, I'm all for clustering the hosses in to one (hopefully short) tag match. Taker, Albert, Jones and Show in seperate matches at Mania would be pretty rough. Hell, add Rikishi as guest ref.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Wasn't it reported that Taker thought highly of Albert, and thought he had the potential to be a star? Well, this would be Taker's chance to put his money where his mouth is. Unless you're saying Taker was just positioning himself to get an easy win at WM, but that would never be the case
Guest humongous2002 Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Let him wrestle other hosses for the rest of his life and keep him away from the true talented athletes.
