Wrath Losing Matches

In the town where Rocky is a legend, and the people cheer for the one they like, the Viking Hall boasts the energy that makes NFL fans shudder. The camera gives an outside view of the infamous arena, where so much blood has been shed when ECW was still active. Now, it gives way to a new federation as the words "SJL WRATH!" flash outside, a night brightly lit with stars.

"(Judge) Welcome back! We thank you all for watching us instead of NFL Football."

"(Ejiro) ..... Stupid schedule...."

"(Judge) Yes, we thank you very much for tuning in because we're not lying when we say we have a pretty good show, despite what my partner Ejiro would say."

"(Annie) Yeah, don't listen to him. His team lost today."

"(Ejiro) They were cheated out of the win!"

"(Annie) Yea, and I was the one who was kissing Madonna."

"(Judge) After two great matches, we're about to watch Landon "La Cucaracha" Maddix defend his SJL Television Championship against the impressive newcomer, Brian Kingsmen! We saw what Brian is capable of, so should the fan favorite Landon Maddix be afraid? Ejiro?"

"(Ejiro) Definitely. There's more to meets the eye and Brian Kingsmen is just a fighter. He seems to get his energy from the boos that he's definitely going to get!"

"(Annie) One word. Overrated."

"(Ejiro) You say that every match."

"(Annie) Yes, yes I do. But is this just like any other match? Well, we'll just see...... "

The camera relays footage of the crowd inside, already jumpy from the match preview being displayed on the Smarkstron. They clap and stomp their feets in unison, providing the inspiration that hopefully will be enough for Landon Maddix. Funyon takes his stand in the center of the ring as the blinding spotlight shoots a beam directly over him. Referee Sexton Hardcastle strides in from backstage and slides into the ring, taking his spot beside Funyon as the legendary announcer brings his mic up to his lips and begins to announce the match:

"(Funyon) The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is for the SJL TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!

The fans roar with approval as "The Gauntlet" hits the PA system. Immediately the cheers turn into jeers as colored lights flash all over the arena. The lights dance to the music as Brian Kingsmen emerges from the gorilla position, face showing the intensity that is sorely missed from most wrestlers. He drops down on his knees and slaps the steel ramp, one, two, three times before popping back up and raising two middle fingers that are directed towards the crowd!

"(Funyon) Introducing first, the challenger, from parts unknown, he weighs in at 180 pounds.... BRIAN! KINGSMEEENNNNN!!!!!!!"

"(Crowds) BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

"(Judge) Wow, Brian sure knows how to get a crowd riled up. What's with the slapping?"

"(Ejiro) He's just trying to get himself motivated. GO BRIAN! SCREW THIS CROWD!"

"(Annie) The crowd is the best motivation any wrestler can receive. Listen to me, I sound like some old lady now. The crowd rocks! WHOO!"

"(Ejiro) You're right, you do sound old."

Brian Kingsmen slides into the ring and immediately begins to warm up, hopping up and down before pulling on the ropes to get a feel of the ring. He circles it, staring down on the ground as if he were in a trance. The crowds continue the hate, but all the snarls in the arena turn into cheers as "The Fight Song" starts to play. They all rise up, cheering their hearts out as Landon Maddix hops out from backstage and does a spin for the crowds!

"(Funyon) AND HIS OPPONENT! From Huron, South Dakota, he weighs in at 206 pounds, the SJL TELEVISION CHAMPION!!!! Landon "La Cucar-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-acha" Maddix!!!!!!!!!"

Once again, the crowds erupt in cheers as Landon Maddix races down the ramp, slapping the hands of the fans in the front row. He walks around the entire ring, soaking up the cheers and shaking hands with his fans in attendance, not noticing that Brian Kingsmen has slid out of the ring and made for the announcer's table. Brian grabs a chair and heads the opposite way around the ring.

"(Judge) What is Brian doing? He's got a chair!!!"

"(Ejiro) YEAH! HARDCORE!!!"

"(Annie) Maddix better look out!!"

Maddix thanks a particular fan in the front row, giving her a hug as Brian races in. Brian quickly tosses the chair towards Maddix, who, without thinking, catches it just before it hits his face. But before he can relax, Brian quickly shoots a foot up towards it, nailing the chair with a superkick and planting the chair into Landon's face!! The crowds gasp and quickly boo the challenger!!!

"(Ejiro) WHAT A START!!! That's the way to win!!"

The superkick-to-chair-to-face exchange floors Landon and Brian grabs the champion by the hair before dragging him back up to his feet. Brian grabs hold of Landon's wrist and with one mighty hurl, whips the champion into the steel pole, sending him spinning out of proportion before finally falling to the mat!

"(Judge) Brian Kingsmen used the chair to gain an unfair advantage."

"(Annie) Totally uncalled for."

"(Ejiro) That's actually pretty smart. Before the official match can start, Brian can use as many weapons as he can to gain an advantage!"

Brian continues the assault, racing in to deliver a falling dropkick. The kick dazes Landon, and Brian slides him into the ring, the event that sparks the bell to finally sound.

***Ding ding ding!!!***

"(Judge) And now finally, the match is OFFICIALLY underway!"

Brian Kingsmen slides into the ring and crawls over Landon Maddix, causing Sexton Hardcastle to drop to the floor for the count-

ONE!!!

TWO- and Landon kicks out to a huge pop from the crowds. He gets to his feet in a hurry, only to get floored by a devastating clothesline, courtesy of Brian Kingsmen. Landon pops back up again, and this time is taken down by an arm drag, ending with Brian quickly mounting himself on top of Landon's body to put more pressure with an arm hold.

"(Judge) Brian Kingsmen, as expected, cheating to get the advantage and now pressuring his opponent with amateur manuevers to keep his composure."

"(Ejiro) What a brilliant strategy. And Brian wasn't cheating. It's not his fault that Landon had to showboat and make the poor guy wait. Landon deserved it!"

"(Annie) You're like the most biased announcer I've ever met."

"(Ejiro) Likewise Annie, likewise."

Brian continues to apply the arm lock, twisting it time after time to put Landon Maddix in even more pain. But Landon Maddix never gives in, and with all his strength, drags his knee under him and slowly pushes both him and Brian up. Brian panics, trying to increase the pressure but Landon retaliates with a swift kick to the gut. The hold loosens and Landon delivers another kick to the gut, this one able to free himself from Brian Kingsmen! Landon rides his momentum, racing to the ropes and bouncing off it for some much needed speed. He rebounds and runs forward, but Brian reads the attack carefully and ducks an incoming clothesline as the speed sends Landon towards the opposite trio of ropes. Landon rebounds a second time, and this time, Brian doesn't duck, instead shooting his right boot up towards Landon's face, flooring the TV Champion with a superkick that sends off a sickening thud that echoes around the arena!

"(Judge) The TV Champion is losing momentum early in this matchup, as was every other competitor that went up against Brian Kingsmen, whose attitude in the ring is just vicious. We all remember last week, and we pray that it doesn't happen again this week."

"(Ejiro) Take that you wannabe urban legend!"

"(Annie) Watch him start eating all your sheep."

"(Ejiro) I don't have any sheep."

"(Annie) You don't have any balls, either."

Brian brings Landon back up, arches his arm back before shooting a right hand straight forward, decking the TV Champion with a hard right. Brian moves in, delivering another right hand, a third, a fourth, a fifth, each one seeming to be more punishing than its predecessor. With the sixth punch, Brian sends Landon Maddix backing into the corner. The challenger quickly takes advantage, lowering his shoulder before thrusting it into Landon's midsection. He exposes Landon's gut again before driving another shoulder thrust into the champion's midsection. By the time of the third shoulder thrust, Landon Maddix collapses to the canvas, his stomach not used to such fierce punishment. He slams his fist into the mat, grimacing in pain as Brian grabs him by the wrist. With an emotionless heart, it seems, Brian Kingsmen drags Landon Maddix and places the champion's neck on top of the ropes. He improvises and uses the ropes as a weapon, choking Landon Maddix with every ounce of strength he's got. The crowds boo everything Brian does, but the sadist just doesn't care as he races off the opposite set of ropes and jumps on top of Landon's neck!

"(Judge) Brian still taking it to the TV Champion. He's almost like a machine, showing no emotions while he wears his opponent down."

Landon Maddix collapses down to the canvas. Brian grabs the champion by the hand and drags him to the middle of the ring before going down for the cover-

ONE!!!

TW- but Landon kicks out! The crowds breathe a sigh of relief as Brian goes for another cover but still Landon Maddix kicks out at the count of two. Giving up on that for now, Brian brings Landon back up and exposes his chest before bringing a backhand across the TV Champion's chest.

SMACK!

"(Crowds) WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"

Brian delivers another hard chop! SMACK!

"(Crowds) WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"

Brian delivers one more hard chop before grabbing Landon by the wrist and hurling him to the ropes. Landon rebounds, and immediately tries to retaliate, reading Brian Kingsmen's clothesline perfectly and wrapping himself around the sadist's arm. He uses it as a launchpad, hopping behind Brian Kingsmen before wrapping his arm around Kingsmen's head and driving it into the canvas with the wraparound DDT!! The fans rejoice as Landon is the first to pop back up. He rushes towards Kingsmen and begins to rain down a flurry of hard rights and lefts, backing the sadist to the corner as the crowds cheer every punch. The champion delivers a body punch, another, and another. He seems to have lost his mind as he repeatedly uses Brian Kingsmen as a punching bag, punching the stomach area again and again until finally, Sexton Hardcastle has to break it up. The referee restrains the champion as Brian falls face first into the canvas, overwhelmed by the velocity of the punches.

"(Annie) YES! Now Brian Kingsmen is in trouble."

"(Ejiro) No fucking way girl. He'll pull it out like nothing."

"(Judge) I would like to ask you Ejiro to bring the profanity level to a minimum."

Slowly and steadily, Brian Kingsmen rises to his feet, and at the first sight of Landon Maddix, he takes off, rushing forward with arms cocked back, ready to head into another attack. Landon though, has different ideas, and using his smarts, drops down on his back and presses his feet against Brian's stomach before launching the madman into the air and out of the ring with a monkey toss!!! Brian Kingsmen falls over the ropes and flat on the mat, and the crowds are in awe as they break into cheers when Landon Maddix rises to his feet.

"(Judge) Brilliant counter by Landon Maddix, showing why he is the TV Champion!"

"(Ejiro) That's just one move, I'm sure Brian has a way of coming back."

"(Annie) I sincerely doubt it."

"(Ejiro) You doubt everything."

Maddix rolls to the outside, and referee Sexton Hardcastle starts the countout. But does anyone ever pay attention to the countout unless it's near the end? No. Maddix slides to the outside and brings Brian back up. Grabbing hold of Brian's wrist, Maddix hurls him into the steel pole! CLANG! The impact sends Brian rolling out of proportion before he crashes into the wall barricade, just inches from the many fans that hate him. Landon Maddix moves in for the kill, delivering hard rights after hard rights as the nearest fans pat him in the back. Landon ceases the punching and brings Brian closer to the ring, but the sadist quickly fights back, and with the cheapest move in mind, he pokes Landon Maddix in the eyes. The crowds explode in anger as Brian grabs hold of Landon's wrist and hurls him into the steel steps- NO! Landon Maddix rolls around for the counter and instead sends Brian Kingsmen in!! The steps are knocked off with a huge collission and Brian is knocked senseless. Landon slowly tends to his eyes, rubbing it, trying to get his eyesight back.

"(Judge) Landon leaves Kingsmen in a mess after Brian delivered that cheap shot to the eyes."

"(Ejiro) Whatever it takes to win."

"(Annie) Even if it means pulling out the most blatant cheating?"

"(Ejiro) What did I JUST say?"

With the count at 15, Landon rolls Brian in before crawling into the ring himself to stop the count. He pins Brian down and hooks the right leg for the cover-

ONE!!!

TWO!!!

T- and a kickout by Brian. Landon brings Brian up and grabs him by the wrist before hurling him to the corner, hard. The impact sends Brian staggering forward as Landon races in and delivers a diving lariat that is so hard, it spins Brian in the air before gravity takes over and pulls him back down! The crowds awe at the move as Landon Maddix tries for another cover-

ONE!!!

TWO!!!

THRE- and a kickout! Brian Kingsmen refusing to go down for the three.

"(Annie) I'll give you this, Brian is resilient."

"(Ejiro) Oh my god, Annie Eclectic, giving props to a heel! Who would have thought I would have lived this far to see that happen?!"

"(Annie) Are you done?"

"(Ejiro) Yeah."

Landon brings Brian up, and quickly Brian retaliates with a hard right. Brian tries for another punch but his attempt is blocked and Landon clocks him with a hard right of his own. Brian punches back, and Landon punches back, the two exchanging hard right hands with neither side gaining an advantage.

"(Judge) One fighter has to tip the tables in his favor if he wants to win."

Finally, Landon ducks under a missed punch and delivers a sharp kick to Brian's knees, bringing the sadist down to his knees in a hurry. Landon Maddix races to the ropes, rebounding off it in a hurry as he races in for an attempt. But Brian reads it perfectly, using his legs to trip up Maddix, causing the champion to lose enough balance to fall out to the apron. Both competitors rise to their feets but Brian is the one to make the first advance. He swings a right, but Landon ducks under and thrusts his shoulder through the ropes, dazing Brian just long enough for him to jump up on the top rope and slingshot forward. And in the air, Landon brings his right leg swinging across and nails it on the backside of Brian Kingsmen's head!! SHINING WIZARD!!! The crowds pop in approval as Brian falls on to the middle rope, set up perfectly for the Whiparound!

"(Judge) We all know what's coming! Whiparound time!! How will Brian get out of this one!!!"

"(Ejiro) He'll figure out something!"

The camera zooms in on Brian's face, and surprisingly, his eyes move around and sort of locks on to the area where the Smarktron is! Landon Maddix bounces off the opposite set of ropes, racing in before jumping through the ropes next to Brian. The champion's hands hold on and Landon's legs move in a circular motion- but Brian read it perfectly, and ducks under just in time to avoid the Whiparound! Landon's game is thrown off course and Brian quickly circles his arms around the champion's waist before hoisting him into the air and planting him into the canvas with a german suplex!!! His arms never let go as Brian slowly drags both him and his competitor back up before hoisting the champion into the air and delivering a second german suplex!!! The crowds are eerie quiet as Landon tries to fight back, throwing back unaimed elbows in hopes one of them will hit. They hit, but Brian doesn't get dazed as he drives Landon into the canvas with a third german suplex!!! Landon finally sucks it up and spins around with all his might so that he and Brian are face to face. Landon tries for a clothesline but Brian ducks under and relinquishes his grasps around the champion's waist. Brian hoists Landon into the air and hurls him across, driving him into the canvas with a belly to belly suplex!!

"(Judge) What great technical abilities! Brian Kingsmen delivering a series of suplexes and now both competitors are knocked out!"

"(Ejiro) It took alot out of Brian as well."

"(Annie) Come on Landon Maddix, show them all why you are TV Champ!"

Finally both competitors rise to their feets after what seemed like an eternity. Sexton Hardcastle stands behind Landon Maddix after checking up on him last. Both competitors rise and their eyes lock, but Brian is the first to move. He sees the opportunity and races forward before shooting his leg out towards Landon, but Landon ducks under, and the superkick nails Sexton Hardcastle in the face instead!! The referee collapses to the ground and the impact distracts Brian for just the right amount of time, allowing Landon to set up behind the sadist. Brian turns around, and Landon quickly circles his arms around Brian's waist before flipping him over and planting him into the canvas with a back body drop!! Landon turns around to face the crowd with Brian's body right beneath him!

"(Annie) YES! HERE IT COMES! THE YMCA ELBOW!!"

The crowds are pumped up, so ready for what's about to happen. Landon uses his right foot and kicks Brian's right arm on top of his chest. The TV Champion slowly removes his elbow pad, working the crowds who are so into the act. They embrace in cheers as Landon Maddix tosses the pad out where one lucky fan gets to keep a free souvenir. Landon criss crosses his arms twice before racing to the ropes and running off from it. He leaps over Brian and heads to the opposite set of ropes before rebounding off that... and runs right into-

"(Judge) OH DEAR GOD!!!"

"(Annie) That's just sick!!"

Brian Kingsmen is on his knees and his hands are clenched tightly around the groinal area of Landon Maddix!! The fans are outraged, but they can do nothing seeing as the referee has been knocked out!! Landon Maddix screams out in pain as his face begins to turn red, his eyes wide open, his mouth opened even wider as Brian Kingsmen releases the hold and delivers a nasty uppercut upwards into the crotch! LOW BLOW!!!

"(Ejiro) Too much showboating and that's what caught Mr. Landon Maddix off guard!"

"(Judge) Brian Kingsmen resorting to the lowest tactics to get far in this match as we have seen him do in his SJL career."

"(Annie) Somebody get a replacement referee down here already!"

Landon Maddix hops around in pain and doesn't even see Brian setting up. The sadistic cheater drops into a crouching position behind Maddix and waits as finally the TV champion turns around. With that, in one flowing motion, Brian delivers a kick to the gut before wrapping his arm around Landon's head and driving it into the canvas with a DDT!! The Champion is knocked out and Brian is heading up. Kingsmen ascends to the top rope, and looks towards the crowds who boo him with almost pure hatred. He waves off a farewell kiss before leaping into the air, completing a somersault before crashing into Landon Maddix's body with a 450 Splash!!

"(Judge) Rain of the King's Men!! This can't be it!!!"

Brian moves over to the referee and shakes him hard enough to wake him. He then drops over Landon Maddix and pulls the right leg up for the cover as Sexton Hardcastle faintly slaps the canvas for the count, each count responded by boos-

ONE!!!

TWO!!!

THREE!!!

***Ding ding ding!!!***

"(Funyon) The winner of this match and the NEW SJL TELEVISION CHAMPION.... BRIAN! KINGSMEEEEEEEENNNN!!!!"

"The Gauntlet" kicks up over the speaker system as Brian Kingsmen jumps up and raises his newly won belt into the air, which is gladly received with a clear cut boo.

"(Ejiro) We have a new champion! We have a new champion!"

"(Annie) He cheated to win!"

"(Ejiro) All is fair in love and war."

"(Judge) I can't believe it. Brian Kingsmen using the lowest of tactics to win this match. And- wait, what is he doing now?"

The camera cuts to the ring, where Brian Kingsmen is in his usual stance, crouched down with the title belt in his hands. In his sight, a rising Landon Maddix. The crowds desperately try to warn their hero... but as he turns around- BOOOM!!! BRIAN KINGSMEN RACES IN AND FLOORS LANDON MADDIX WITH THE TITLE BELT! THE ARENA ERUPTS IN BOOS!!!

"(Judge) No, that's enough!!"

"(Annie) This is sickening."

Brian isn't finished, dropping the title on the mat before dragging Landon back up. He wraps his arm around Landon's head, aims for the title belt, and drives Landon's head in with another DDT!! The impact is so devastating that Landon's body flips all the way over, and the camera reveals the cut the attack caused, the cut so clear across the forehead as it begins to ooze out blood. The road agents begin to pour down, but Brian is satisfied, kicking Landon in the body as he makes his way out of the ring.

"(Judge) This guy is... pure-

"(Ejiro) Greatness!"

"(Annie) I can't believe you can even cheer for someone like that."

"(Ejiro) Why can't I? You cheer for the geeks and I cheer for the people that kick their asses."

"(Judge) Ladies and gentlemen, if you're just joining us now, Brian Kingsmen has defeated Landon Maddix for the TV Title in a match where so many rules were broken and Brian has proved himself to be the lowest of low to win."

The newly crowned TV Champion marches up the ramp, kicking down the EMTs stretcher as it passes by. Every second the crowds boo him, and every second he loves it. We fade to black with the picture of Brian Kingsmen smiling as EMTs go to the aide of Landon Maddix.

Some general writing comments, nothing on the match itself:

You write pretty damn well. For a rookie you have a good balance of description and action in there. It's not really hard to tell what's going on and your structure doesn't break up the flow of the match. It's actually very easy on the eyes, which can get you some points in the sense that if a match is easier to look at and read it doesn't feel like work.

Your commentary is above average. You don't really stand out with anything fantastic, but it's not really required. Danny Williams, one of the MEer's in the WF, admittedly has pretty generic commentary. But the thing is he uses the commentary well to put over moves, spots, selling, and psyche. You use me well enough, but don't play off Ejiro and Annie as just comedic. Try and use them put over the heel and face respectively and inject comedy into that. But still, it's pretty good for a new guy.

I'm making up actual comments for the match itself in a few minutes. I'm just posting these so you know that someone is making some comments.

Not a bad entrance. I personally prefer a little more banter on stuff like their styles and the strategies they should use to in the match agaisnt their opponent and all that jazz. Everyone does it differently, though, and as long as you put what you think you need into it, you'll be fine.

I like the attack before the bell, but I don't think I would have used the Superkick with a chair spot. It's cool and all, but it's a pretty damn strong move and I think the beatdown before the bell is just a bit too much unless you wanted to play the "Face gets huge beatdown, heel dominates with a few comeback teases, big comeback... and shutdown". I don't feel that vibe going here right now.

I dislike the second use of the Superkick, especially this early on. After taking that pretty big beating, a Superkick should be something close to a finisher (I'm not really infavor of it being a transition move this early in a match anyways). Maybe replacing it with a forearm smash or even an armdrag to go right back to that arm work would be a better spot.

The action is pretty good so far. I like the classic "Use the ropes to choke the guy" stuff, which is always a great thing to do to get you over as a prick. I love the wraparound DDT reversal, but I don't think that Landon should have immediately gone on the attack again. He's just starting to get offense in now after the heel has been controlling the match. Maybe have him sell your offense a little more by having him kinda catch his breath on the ropes, Brian gets back up and Landon blocks a punch and then starts a flurry of him rather than have him pop back up and go on the offensive immediately.

Again, more good action. The Monkey toss is good, though having it to the floor is an interesting touch. I might have had him hit the canvas and then roll out to regroup, and have Maddix follow, but it's not bad here. Nice brawling on the outside and I mark for the eyepoke :).

I'm not sure if we use a 10 count or WCW's Cruiser 20 count. I always thought we used a 10. Minor quibble, nothing to really worry about.

I think the Shining Wizard would have been a better place to use another fall rather than the diving lariat. More convincing.

I like the rolling Germans, but having him spin around for a clothesline and turning that into a belly to belly is awkward. Have him break the hold on the second German, hit the ropes, and that's a bit better.

The ref bump is set up well, though you probably should have given Landon a false finish there after the missed Superkick. Maybe hit the Wraparound or the Fishamanbusta then right after it, have them do the false finish, and then have him bust out the YMCA Elbow. After that, the finish works quite is done quite well.

I'm not a fan of the after match beatdown. Again, too much. A beltshot would have done fine, but the DDT and the stretcher job... meh.

Overall: Not a bad match. Maybe a little more action would have been nice, but not bad for a rookie. I think you need to get more of an internal storyline happening in your match, like the one I named up above (Imperiled face vs. strong heel). It'll give the match direction, which this match really lacked; they just seemed to be doing the moves, but not with a purpose or building up to something. Check out some Danny Williams matches. He really has a great handle on how to mesh a subtle storyline into his match and slowly have it unfold. It's really great.

I know I have a lot of negative things to say, but don't take it hard. You have a lot of talent, you just lack some experience, which you'll gain soon enough. I look forward to reading more of your work, and hopefully I'll be seeing it in the show next time :).

Actually I appreciate the bad things. Is there anything I can do to make it glue together, and the things that you said about direction, I didn't really get what that meant.
