Im hoping tonight's show is not as bad as the tapings sound..

Seems rather dull, but Jericho plays a huge role which is cool.  His match written down in PBP form sounds great, but it will probably be rather slow.  Sounds like he's booked well.

Chuck/Billy and Mark Henry tests of strengths and especially Vince and his newest freak Stacy just plain piss me off.

Nice way to post this at a decent hour and not rush into it so much.

Haven't read the spoilers yet, but I'm preparing to be completely pissed of at the title match.

From what I read, Hurricane wrestles on both Smackdown and Metal, which means he worked two matches in a three hour period. But, Mark Henry can bend a frying pan so he's better. It's funny, I always make fun of Mark Henry's feats of strength with my small group of smark friends and today, a mark was actually telling me how cool Mark Henry is because of the stuff he can do. It was hillarious.

Rikishi and the Hurricane??? There was no one else available for a title shot?

Okay, snap judgement, hair v hair at Judgement Day.  Do you honestly think Edge is gonna shave off?

Do we REALLY need to hear anything about what turns Vince on?!

All I want to know is how in thee hell Billy and Chuck have managed to get consistently entertaining.  This is like three weeks in a row of totally fine matches involving them and people that aren't really all that super.  Hell, congratulations Billy, Chuck and Rico.

Well, Mark Henry actually look better in the ring than he did during his last run.  Impressive.

Ok, I think it's safe to say that Chris Jericho is officially my new favorite wrestler.

Biggest problem with tonight:

WHY THE HELL DID THEY HAVE UNDERTAKER'S MUSIC IF HE'S NOT ALLOWED TO BE THERE?

Sorry, but it's the little things like that completely piss me off.  Why would have the music?  Just in case Taker wants to be suspended?

On the bright side, Jericho has to be considered a top guy now.  He bumped like crazy for Hogan's shitty offense and the match didn't suck as a result.  Plus he had Hogan beat TWICE before the music cues hit, without the benefit of run-ins, so even the casual fan has to think he's got a shot now.  Not catching my breath that the WWF will remember that after tomorrow, of course.

Posted

I like Lance Storm and Kurt Angle as the new Can/Am Connection.

The Vince/Stacy stuff has officially moved from disgusting to just plain wrong.

I agree, I like the way Jericho was booked tonight. That plus they are getting Hogan over as the old guy who keeps getting fluke wins. Now if they could just get that belt off of him ;).

Re: UT's music

HHH was the one behind it. He most likely went down to Tower Records and bought a Limp Bizkit CD. They're probably going for about $2.50 in the over-and-done sales bin.  ;)  Seriously, HHH hinted at costing Jericho the match all along, and I kinda figured when UT's music came on, he wasn't showing up, so HHH had to have been behind it. In fact, that's probably why they played Hunter's music when he came out, too. I though tit was completely unnecessary, except as a precursor to UT's theme. So in a way, it made sense. Still though, it was a pretty lame cop-out ending. And damn, Hogan looked horribly slow and useless out there. What a surprise.

No doubt this will segue quite badly into the 4-way match at Judgment Day that's been in the rumour mill for a couple of weeks. Look for HHH (not the champ) to pin Jericho (again) to win the title again. And what a surprise... Hogan doesn't have to return a job. How convenient.

Of course, I could be getting ahead of myself...

Pretty okay show otherwise. The cruiser match was, of course, well done. And nice to see Lance and Val (no longer the Valbowski soon) getting some quality TV time.

And as has been said before, Taz and Cole suck. Bring in anybody else. ANYBODY!!!

You don't think that *gasp* the same production people work at both shows do you?!?!? How could that be, they are seperate now...oh wait, that's just the rosters. Some people will bitch about anything.

Random Smackdown thoughts:

Rikishi's big. It's almost like he causes...earthquakes. And he's teamed with the Hurricane...hmmmm.

Anybody else hear the "Rico Sucks" chant? Rico's starting to grow on me. He seems good at working the crowd too.

Any time 3/4 of the people in a match are Canadian and the other is Kurt Angle, it's a good sign. Though, to be honest, I thought their interview earlier went on too long (though I love the guys, except Val...oh, I'll be generous tonight, he's okay too). Oh, and Michael Cole made reference to the Japanese shampoo commercial! CONTINUITY~!...or something~.

Speaking of taking up time: GET VINCE OFF MY TV!!!

Kidman vs. Tajiri...good stuff, I thought. Although I have to choke back a laugh when I hear the announcers talk about the wonderful cruiserweight division.

Also...I can't help but thinking that Mark Henry's all fake. I mean, I eventually figured out that the limousine thing was fake...(Wheels spinning with smoke = no friction) But he does seem fitter than last time, and strangely enough he seems to be over. Is that just cheers being piped in, or what?...he still doesn't have a personality, though.

Undertaker's music was just part of THE CEREBRAL ASSASSIN BY GAWD's messing with Chris Jericho's head. If it leads to HHH vs. Jericho, it's fine with me. Assuming HHH can stop being, as Scott Keith put it, "increasingly slug-like"...I also thought HHH on commentary was amusing with his deadpan comments. "My God, I think the Undertaker's here."

All in all, I thought Smackdown was better than it has been. Which I guess is not saying much, but I'm hopeful.

If you wanted to nitpick even more...why would Flair & McMahon want the same production guys working for them? They could be spies.

It's not that I didn't get what they were going for, I did.  But it seems like common sense to me.  They just spent over an hour hyping this "agreement of recripocricy" about crossovers.  Wouldn't that logically mean his music wouldn't be in the production truck at SmackDown?  All it takes is something as simple as HHH walking out of the production truck and it's instantly explained.  Easy solution.

I can see what he's saying about the music though. Taker's apart of the Raw brand, so he really didn't need to be involved at all. I really wish they would keep Raw and Smackdown as separate as possible.

As for Storm and Angle...I have no problem with the alliance, but what the hell happened to Jericho and Angle??? They had a nice little thing going on a few weeks back.

That Vince/Stacy scene right before he called for HHH was uncalled for!

Torrie's Geisha outfit is growing on me. She looks pretty good in it.

I gotta get me a suit like Rico's. That thing is sharp. :-)

As I said before, I'm officially a Jericho mark. VERY strong promo with HHH and I was actually into that Hogan match near the end. Countering the Leg Drop with the Walls of Jericho was great!

That's about it.

I thought the show was fairly entertaining tonight. Most of the matches were solid and Jericho's promos stole the show once again.

The Hogan/Jericho match surprised me. It wasn't exactly good. But it was watchable for the most part and Jericho worked his ass off. I have to give Hogan some credit. He took a lot more bumps than usual and he did at least try. But anything that required him to move quickly just looked awful.

Tajiri/Kidman and the T-shirt tag match were good. But they really need to start introducing some more cruisers. It's smaller than the women's division right now.

Jericho's promo was great. Especially the part where he got in Triple H's face. I think the biggest improvement in Jericho's work the last several months is his confidence in his own character. He clearly believes in his character completely and does not appear at all out of place in there against the big guys. As opposed to the beginning of the title run when he seemed to be trying to convince himself, as well as the audience, during his promos.

This feud seems so fresh even though they wrestled in a PPV main event less than two months ago. Of course, Jericho was just the side attraction for that feud. And boy has Jericho made that decision look even stupider in the last couple weeks.

This Angle/Edge feud is dying though. I think the gimmick match will help a little. But the problem is they are still playing the feud up for laughs. The "funny" skits were fine to start up the feud but they have been unable to transition it into more serious territory. Instead of using that silly t-shirt angle, they should have been using their past history to explain Edge's desire to beat Angle. And Angle has to get out of the dork role!

How important are the tag team belts if the WWF can just randomly pair up two wrestlers and give them a title shot immediately?

Why is Mark Henry still wearing a shirt advertising Backlash? Can't they fit him into a Judgment Day shirt? Why the hell is Mark Henry even on tv?

Did someone lock Test in a tanning booth? Or did he just think turning burnt orange would get him a push?

Rico is the answer you're looking for.

Before Rico they were a mildly entertaining heel tag team that were the best team to keep the belts warm until WWF rebuilt the tag division.

Rico has turned them into a entertaining heel tag team that actually gets "heat" now. Rico also turned them into a team that would be able to stick around in a rebuilt tag team instead of a team that is only suitable till better teams form.

Rico made Billy Gunn some what interesting...if he can do that then he has a bright future ahead of him.

As far as the matches. Well i don't like Billy Gunn but he isn't as bad when he's in a tag team and while Palumbo isn't a great wrestler he's not terrible either. I think Rico also some how makes the matches better but i'm not sure how.

Yes isn't it wonderful how WWF waits until after a guy who is unproven as a WWF title holder loses the title to build up his character? They did it with Angle and now Jericho.

Well ok with Angle they actually tore down the character that he had built up well and was over with, then they gave him a weak useless character that couldn't get over at all when he won the title. Then after he lost he snapped(yawn WWF always does it that way) and become "meaner" and then basically went back to how he acted before winning the WWF title.

Well all Test has to do is look at Hogan to see proof that having burnt orange skin can in fact get a you a push.

Were it not for Jericho, Billy, Chuck and Rico would win for most entertaining on Smackdown again... weird stuff.  What's up with Rikishi and Storm though? That's like one of those random jobber teams on Metal (where's Funaki when you need him?!).

The Storm/Angle vs. Edge/Val match was the best wrestling-wise (I missed Tajiri and Kidman, so if that was really good, oh well).  Three Canadians, four former IC champs... hmmm... how could it have been a BAD match?! When both Val and Storm were in the ring it was like a Metal match, but in prime time... speaking of Metal, what about Morrus' feud with Storm?

Vince and Stacy... that's just disturbing.  Isn't Stacy a year or two younger than his daughter, his youngest child? It makes me squirm just thinking about it... what's the point of it all? To make us sick and hate Vince even more?

Jericho vs. Hogan... Jericho carried Hogan.  Big surprise, I know.  The stuff about why Smackdown would have RAW wrestler's tapes is a legitimate plot hole, but its not like the WWF hasn't done worse before.  I think it would've been much more effective though for the fluke roll-up match to end w/ HHH's music, but I guess using Undertaker's sets up the rumored four corners match.  If there's no four corners match, I have little doubt that Undertaker v. Hogan will be the WORST, SLOWEST, MOST BORING match I've ever seen.

Ooh! Hair match... Angle definitely gets the edge (no pun intended) there.  Even though he's gonna lose, he's got less hair to lose anyway... I mean he's pretty close to a crew cut right now, and a bald head won't look that much worse.  Then again, the last "hair" match I saw led to barely a few clippings... but maybe that was because it was an indie Lucha group that needed to put on the same match somewhere else later that week.

Allright after smackdown tonight I've come to the decision to stop watching it unless the spoilers show that something really good/important happens.

I've had it with the shit. Raw isn't great but it's better than Smackdown

Was it me or did Test look awfully orange last night?

Hurricane is *right* there, and he's over.  Instead of treating him like a joke & jobbing him to everyone, give him a push.  I'd be OK w/ him keeping the gimmick (I liked "Sugar" Shane Helms better) if they actually let him wrestle more like he did in WCW.  The Vertebreaker would be over *huge*, but I can't see them letting him use that.

Well, this week Smackdown was the better show by far.  Raw just flat-out sucked, and none of the matches were any good (yes, not even Eddie/Jeff Hardy, Hardy looked *awful*).

Another thought:

Why oh WHY did they have to stick Hardcore Holly's "How ya like me now?" catchphrase at the beginning of his theme music? Lame, lame, LAME! And now I can't get CRZ's Kool Moe Dee reference out of my head. Damn!
