McCain: Instead of emergency room, go to Wal-Mart

Recommended Posts

We actually could have Wal-Mart medical, if we had the UHC that McCain opposes but has always had for himself.

The longest standing lobby against UHC is the medical workers unions/lobbies, because doctors are going to make MUCH less a year if UHC were ever enacted in this country. They've literally been battling it since the 40s or so. They'd be reduced to making as much as their foreign counterparts.

Which would probably lead to a shortage of doctors in a decade or so. The financial incentive to become a doctor is very strong, and taking that away would result in a lot of people jumping ship on the medical program.

Not to mention we already have a shortage of nurses as it is.

There have to be a million other options to improve healthcare ahead of going to to Government Run Universal Healthcare.

One way to bring down health care costs? Free medical school for qualifying students.

I don't even understand why people fear a govt beauracracy in their healthcare when insurance companies and HMOs are just as bad.

Worse actually, since they can pick and choose what you do and don't need instead of the doctor and yourself. But honestly, the government hasn't proved they can handle small stuff with quickness so I don't see why anyone would believe they could handle this. Asking a government that is screwed up to take over an industry that is screwed up just leads to ten times as many screw ups.

What? They'll just pick what they'll pay for, like any other HMO. If you want more than that, you can still opt to pay out of your own pocket. And you're fooling yourself if you think Doctors don't lie to the insurance companies about what they're doing and how much it cost just so that they can help the customer.

Also, unlike an HMO, the public system can't drop you at the first sign that they'll have to pay out.
