Guest Downhome Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Is it just me, or does John Cena look so much like Sting? Everything from his face, way he moves in ring, to whatever. I see so many comparisions between the two. When I look at his face, I just imagine the face paint on there, and I can see Sting perfectly. It doesn't hurt that Cena's hair is already somewhat blonde and spikey, lol. Anyhow, am I the only one that noticed this, or am I totally insane? If you think like I do, think of this... Cena = Sting & Lesnar = Goldberg ...hmmm, pretty weird if you ask me, I wonder which "WCW Superstar" is next to show up! Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Um, yes, you're insane. Very much so.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Big difference. Sting was, you know, good.
Guest Downhome Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Um, yes, you're insane. Very much so. Hey, I didn't really mean for someone to just come out and say it! Next time you see him, imagine a face paintless Sting, then picture Cena with it, perhaps you too will become insane.
Guest CanadianChick Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Anglesault, you have only seen Cena is ONE match, which was pretty damn good for a debut match. How can you say that Cena is no good? Do you have any proof to back up that statement?
Guest Downhome Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Big difference. Sting was, you know, good. I'm sorry that Cena almost beat Kurt Angle, I really am. You need to just let go man, let go, let it all out.

Do you have any proof to back up that statement? I bet if Sting came in and almost be Angle, he'd be saying that Sting wasn't good also.

Do you have any proof to back up that statement? Lesse. He didn't conect with one punch in the whole match. He wrestles a VERY basic and boring style. And the match was no where as good as everyone claims it was.
Guest Dangerous A Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Anglesault is correct. Cena didn't show anything that Josh Matthews from TE 1 couldn't do. But Cena has "it". That intangible that Angle and Rock showed when they debuted. I see Cena going far if they push the issue.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Yay, the future of the WWF: John Cena, Shawn O'Haire and Edge. Count ME out.
Guest CanadianChick Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Sean O'Harie?....where did ya get that from?
Guest Downhome Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Anglesault is correct. Cena didn't show anything that Josh Matthews from TE 1 couldn't do. But Cena has "it". That intangible that Angle and Rock showed when they debuted. I see Cena going far if they push the issue. Yes, it was obvious that Cena was still green, and who can blame him? I'm sure Josh could do the exact same things that Cena did performace wise, but it's HOW Cena did it. Like you said, he really showed everyone, like it or not, that he does indeed have "it". When he and Angle was standing face to face, and then Angle asked him what he had and Cena replied so intensely with "ruthless agression" (which by the way was a damn fine job of continuing something from RAW, great set up on RAW even if they didn't mean for it to look that way), and then Cena hit Angle, it was just awesome, and the fans were behind him from that moment on. Cena looks to be a natural in HOW he does things. All he needs is a little time to improve performance and to show us all that much more of what he can do, and he will go very very far...PERIOD.
Guest Nevermortal Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 His "SUPER SAFE" German Suplex bumps were good...but that's about it.
Guest CanadianChick Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 He does seem to have *it*, but time will tell how succesful and good he is. Its pointless to write him off as a sucky wrestle when he has only wrestled one match on television/
Guest Anglesault Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 and Angle was standing face to face, and then Angle asked him what he had and Cena replied so intensely with "ruthless agression" All hatred aside, he deliverd that line horribly. I don't think I was supposed to laugh at him. and then Cena hit Angle, it was just awesome How much better would it have been if contact was made?
Guest Nevermortal Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 I love Anglesault. I really do. Well, except for the fact he hates the cruisers (which I enjoy), but I can live with that.

I don't think I was supposed to laugh at him. and then Cena hit Angle, it was just awesome How much better would it have been if contact was made? Har, har, har, oh wait, I don't think I was SUPPOSED to laugh at you, sorry. In all seriousness, you are the type of fan that people are begining to get pissed off at, over analyzing everything. It was a good segment, and almost everyone thinks so. You with your "Kurt Angle is my Jesus" attitude just is blinding you from being able to just enjoy things man. I know that the guy made mistakes, and I forgive him as I know he is new and just getting started. You however look at everything he did wrong, just hoping you can use it against him to take up for Kurt that much more. After one match you are already writing him off as "he sucks", and that is just sad if you truly feel you can determine that from ONE match. Oh, and before you say it... ...I can however say that he has "it" after one match, because that is something one can just tell. You can just see some wrestlers and determine if they have "it". Like Rocky, I hated his f'n guts when he first started, but it was obvious he was going places. Same thing goes for most outbreak stars like Austin, Angle, and whoever. I don't hate Angle, I actually think HE is the future of Pro. Wrestling and WWE, but I do not love him so much that it keeps me from being able to analyze anything that he has to do with just in hopes to make "my hero" look that much better, and everyone else that much worse. Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest Trivia247 Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Sean O`haire = Brendan Fraiser on Steroids Cena probably would have been sting of 20 years ago. thats really the difference. Look at Early Sting Matches Sting... Was Pretty Basic in his moves, Clotheslines, Gutwrench suplexes Splashes Press Slams.. Woo hoo he is SOOOO Good yea. Cena is pretty basic now Sting got better over time So Will Cena. Why complain about someone you only seen once?
Guest Anglesault Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 I think a first impression can tell you alot. It shows the style he westles (Basic/boring) his endurance (Good) his mic skils(or delivery, in a case liek this) (Bad) his character (Anyone know what it might be?) It showed me that he can't throw a punch. Don't just dismiss first impressions. They can show you a lot.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Yay, the future of the WWF: John Cena, Shawn O'Haire and Edge. Count ME out Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Sean O'Harie?....where did ya get that from? He's got a match on Heat this Sunday. Hopefully they'll try to work him into the "big" shows, as well.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 QUOTE Yay, the future of the WWF: John Cena, Shawn O'Haire and Edge. Count ME out Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. You think those three will takw the WWF anywhere (Other then STRAIGHT TO HELL, BAH GAWD!) QUOTE Sean O'Harie?....where did ya get that from? He's got a match on Heat this Sunday. Hopefully they'll try to work him into the "big" shows, as well. Well, that my be a little extreme, but if that's what it takes to keep him off my TV, then yes, have Paul White eat him.
Guest Nevermortal Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Anglesault, what's your problem with Sean O'Haire?
Guest Downhome Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Anglesault, what's your problem with Sean O'Haire? It must be because Sean called Angle a poopie head one time in an interview! (At least in Anglesault's head or something, he has to find SOME way to hate anyone that might go over Angle one day.)
Guest CanadianChick Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Well thats pretty obvious. Care to elaborate?
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 And you've seen O'Haire wrestle *how* many times since he was in WCW? I'll admit he was green in WCW, but he's been in OVW for probably at least a year now, so he's probably improved. He's got the look already, and the athleticism. As for Cena, O'Haire, & Edge, the only one who will be in the ME any time soon is Edge. If he tones down the goofy stuff and maybe cuts his hair, he can be a viable main eventer. O'Haire & Cena are young, so they've got time to get their shit together. Whether they'll make the ME remains to be seen, but they could do a lot worse than giving them a shot somewhere down the line. But don't worry, Angle will probably been the #1 or #2 guy in the company in the near future once guys like UT & Hogan are gone.
Guest humongous2002 Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 Cena might still be a little bit green, but so far he has made more of an impact than Brocky, Batista and (lol) Orton. I guaranteed he'll be WWE champ in about a year or 2.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 29, 2002 Report Posted June 29, 2002 I'll admit he was green in WCW, but he's been in OVW for probably at least a year now, so he's probably improved. Key word: Probably. He's got the look already, and the athleticism. So does Billy Gunn. But don't worry, Angle will probably been the #1 or #2 guy in the company in the near future once guys like UT & Hogan are gone. Not if they keep using him as a stepping stone for everyone they want to get over.

Not if they keep using him as a stepping stone for everyone they want to get over. 1) Then maybe you should hold off on criticism until you've seen some of his matches. 2) He's more talented than Gunn. 3) Well, they can't keep doing that forever. Or I would hope they wouldn't. He's arguably the best all-around worker they have, and sooner-or-later they've got to push him as such. He's got multiple title reigns in his future.
