The WWE eats a big slice of humble pie...

Flash back one year.

Do you remember how high and mighty the WWE was when it came to its developmental talent?

Every week, Jim Ross would give us updates on the talent in OVW and HCW, and every week it would be basically the same story..."I really like these young studs. These kids are hosses. However, they still got a long ways to go in my estimation. They should be ready for TV in...er, five years or so. Or 25,000 dark matches, whatever comes first."

I find it so funny that now the WWE is throwing all of these Tough Enough and OVW/HCW talents onto TV now that they are in panic/red alert mode. Maybe there is a positive side to this slump in the wrestling business: the developmental guys are getting a chance that they may not have gotten otherwise. Hell, Brock is the King of the Ring and he's only been around for a few months.

Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, John Cena, Chris Nowinski, Maven, Nidia, Linda Miles, Jackie, Jamie Noble...how many of these talents would have gotten their shot at the big-time if WWE business was booming?

God forbid business ever goes up again, I bet that they'll shoot these guys back to the developmentals as if it were baseball or something. I can just see the Ross Report:

"Attendance is back up 35%, and we pulled in a strong 6.0 for RAW. This is good news for all involved. In other news, John Cena has been sent back to OVW for some more grooming. Despite the **** 3/4 match he had with Kurt Angle at Unforgiven, we still feel that this young blue chipper has a long way to go before he's ready for the big-time. He needs to...uh, learn to wrestle the WWE style. And more importantly, he needs to stop having such damn good matches when HHH is only having *** matches in the main event. HHH is the best in the business from where I sit."

Sometime I really wonder if the company purposefully require their talent to dumb down their matches so not as to upstage the me'ers.

Sure...

Hell, if Ricky Steamboat had to "slow it down" for the Hulkster and his 400-pound Arch-Nemesis of the Week, there's a real good possibility that it still goes on today. Of course, these days they aren't told to slow it down, HHH just buries them in booking/production meetings.

If Kurt Angle is wrestling John Cena at Unforgiven, I'll give JR alot more to worry about than just looking like a hypocrite.

Maybe by Armageddon Cena will be the new Kurt Angle. Maybe he'll get over as fast as Angle and become as good as he is eventually. He looked pretty good on SD! I thought.

they give John what a 7-8 minute match and he hits a few good moves, very basic and they shove him back to the minors... I remember Randy Orton doing more Basic Moves and he been hanging around for weeks geez. I guess Taker's Handshake means " You did good kid, but the big boys that run things think you'll show them up. You understand if we send you back to the Minors until their contracts are up right?"

Oh fuck you. You'd rather see Angle stink it up with old mother fuckers, than see him wrestle in a 4 & 1/2 star match? ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?!

I was wondering the exact same thing

Something tells me that if someone else put on a great match with Cena and sold for his every move, Anglesault would probably praise him

But since it's Angle, and Angle should look like a God in every single match, then no, it's bad and John Cena should be killed because he's a no talent hack even though he's only been on TV one week and had one match.

Angle could wrestle HIMSELF to a four and a half star match. That match reflected NOTHING on Cena.

I doubt it. And on that matter, i wouldnt want to watch ANY wrestler "wrestling" "themselves."

Get off Angle's cock and realize other people have talent too.

Also, if Kurt is such a great wrestler, how come he doesnt carry Hogan to 4* matchs?

Aww yeah, this threads just about to heat up. I have no problem with Cena. But if he and Angle wrestle again soon, then Angle should bitchslap him.

Hey AS, what's up with your avatar? It almost looks like a mod sign! I thought I was dreaming for a minute.

Edit:Aw shit, it is a mod avatar. Nice.

Because Hogan can't bump.

So? Why didnt he just roll Hogan out and "wrestle himself"?

THAT would've drawn ratings in your sick fucking fantasies.

No clue what you are talking about.

Okay, let me rephrase this. Angle could carry anyone under 40 who has full use of their body to a good match. That doesn't mean he should go out there and put every rookie and midcarder on earth over, like you people allw ant him to do.

You know...I've wrestled myself before...good times...

Anyways, yeah this is just like 95/96, when the WWF flushed out its midcard, and brought in a whole bunch of new guys. The difference between now and then though is 1) the WWE is actually better now than it as back then and 2)the midcard has yet to be cleaned out. Still a mess

Why the fuck do you care so much? It's pro wrestling. WINS DONT MATTER! WWE felt he was a good enough talent to showcase an up-and-comer. Calm the fuck down and enjoy the program.

And I enjoy the program when it's ENTRETAINING. It's NOT entertaining when the best wrestlers are opening the show in pointless segments and the shitty wrestlers are all over the place.

Wins can matter when you are continually buried. Look at Jericho. He is not perceived as a Main Eventer anymore. Are you going to tell him wins don't matter? I'm sure if he beat HHH at HIAC, Jericho would have shot back up through the stratosphere and been a legit Main Eventer again.

And who is forcing you to watch all this unentertaining bullshit? I'm entertained by most of it, so that'd be why i watch.

The best wrestler? Please. Benoit, Gurrero, Malenko (ok, retired, but still) are better. You're just riding Kurt's cock.

If you arnt entertained - why do you watch the product?

Add Jericho and Storm, then. Test, for entertainment value alone. Also, Rey (when debuted).

I don't see why Angle shouldn't have wrestled Cena. It's not like Angle jobbed and Angle is going to leave in a few months to train for the Olympics, right? If he's going to leave and possibly never come back (Injuries or he loses so badly that his rep is killed) why not have him give a talented young guy a few good matches to help get him over?

Guest Anglesault

Storm was in a nothing segment in the beginnning of the show, as well. Test sucks. And Jericho drew the short straw: Edge feud.

Because he's been doing that since February. the whole point of the Hogan feud was to get him to take the next step. Being manhandled by John Cena is not the enxt step.

Can Angle wrestle a **** match with Albert, or Bossman, or Test, or even Val Venis? I'd love to see him try. To think that Cena had NOTHING to do with it truly shows how you ignorant and how biased you are.

We were talking about wrestling, right? Storm may have been in a bull segment but, who knows, maybe they're letting this thing build properly. He's still a better and more worldly wrestler. Jericho is gonna get into a feud with a "WWE BOY" (ie; someone who will be a ME guy, wether all you smarks like it or not - good thing i like it) so it can only help in ... in theory.

Test entertains me, if you dont like it, change the channel when he comes on.

Yeah, he had something to do with it. He showed up. He was breathing, he was energetic and busting his ass. But there is no way he has that same match with say, Edge. That WAS Angle.
