Guest Mr Monday Night Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Hey, I'm new here, and thought I would start a topic. Personally, my favorite wrestler of all time was Mick Foley. If I had to pick one moment of his I liked the most, I would probably say back when he was visiting Vince McMahon in the hospital, and debuted Socko. I think that was when I first really came to like Mick alot. When was your favorite?
Guest ManKinnd Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Him winning the title for the first time. It's nowhere near the best, and can't be more than ***, but it's gotta be my personal favorite match of all time. I mark out ridiculously and it still gives me the chills.
Guest M Nyland Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 well looking back at "Lost In Cleveland" is great but my favorite Mick moment was seeing him LIVE in Pittsburgh and shilling his book while on the injury list.......and then standing in the spot that he landed on after he was thrown from the Cell 2 years prior.....I felt so alive on that spot... I don't know why Kudos to any of his E&C skits as well
Guest Mr Monday Night Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I mark out ridiculously and it still gives me the chills. Me too man, I remember when he left that time after hell in a cell with HHH and just thinking to myself "Man this is what I watch wrestling for." The Foley montages brought tears to my eyes. Heh. But I think he was such a favorite with people was cause so many people felt he was just a normal guy. I know I did.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I have always beena big ecw fan and in 94 I of course I didn;t read the sheets. When I saw the wcw tag title interview on ecw I thought that was the shit and a half. Those kinds fo things are very rare now adays. --Rob
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 1. Nothin' Can Stop a Fuckin' Bullet. 2. The JR interviews. Tremendous stuff. Turned a character of a reclusive cellar dweller into a down to earth family man with a dream.
Guest Nezbyte Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 His shit in Japan is awesome. KOTD is great, the pyro at the end has alot to be desited of - however.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 His Last Match in ECW at Big Ass Extreme Bash 96 when he said goodbye to the ECW Crowd, and he did that big goodbye speech with the mini swerve when he brought out Stevie Richards and Blue Meanie, and they danced to "New York New York" that whole speech to the crowd, pulling out that one fan who was crying...that whole business.... By far the best moment I've seen of Mic Foley's career. Even in him leaving ECW was 10 times Classier than How he left the WWF in my opinion
Guest phoenixrising Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 My two favorites... Before Royal Rumble 2000, when he's talking about how Mankind isn't ready for Triple H, so he names his replacement..."HIS NAME...IS CACTUS JACK!!!!!" Also when he came back as the Commissioner, liked that a lot too.
Guest Razor Roman Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 My Favorite Foley TV moments were the return of Cactus Jack and his introduction as Commish. Selfishly, though... my REAL favorite Foley moments were.... When he came to my college and I got to do a half hour interview with him for campus television... And when I got on the MTV Countdown to Wrestlemania 2000 special because I came to the Meadowlands dressed as Cactus Jack. I even got a cheap pop for myself when they played his tribute video before the show, and I got up, gave a Bang Bang sign and held up my "Mick Foley Is My Daddy" sign. I guess being an overwieght hairy guy is good for SOMETHING.
Guest BeefcakeMark Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 My favorite mankind stuff was his reaction work with him and rock.....like near the end of the rock and sock when he would start to say..."IF YOU SMEELLL....then rock would tell him to shut his face....and he would go cower in the corner...that was great...i also like the work he does on Robot Wars.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 My second favorite Foley moment was in HIAC when he looked up at the camera with the tooth up his nose but my favorite Foley moments were all those talk show interviews plugging his book, when he would try to explain to TV personalities how exactly that tooth got up his nose in the first place.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 ah...so many... Him winning the world title for the first time "And his name is Cactus Jack!" the last ECW match and thing afterwards was pretty good KOTDM was good... and this promo was awesome....sorry for the length... ECW Television - Raven/Cactus Jack Backstage Promo [both are sitting down, with Raven at an elevated position to Cactus. During this time, Mick Foley was getting ready to leave ECW for one of the big two. At the time, it was thought he'd go to WCW, but he eventually joined WWF, which explains all the WCW references in his promos]. Raven: "Tommy Dreamer, the condition in which we left you in tonight was a result of your own selfishness. Years ago, you and I walked side by side, and when I needed you the most, you were not there. Now Cactus Jack needs you for a higher purpose and you're not there for him either. So now, Cactus Jack and I walk side by side as the true friends you and I should've been." Cactus Jack: "Tommy, I hope you understand that you had to get hurt tonight because my words were not getting through to you. A show of force, unfortunately, became necessary. But I pity you Tommy, lying there in a weakened state because I didn't realize just how into your brain these hardcore fans had gotten into you. I took it for granted that one show of force would be enough. That you'd see the way and walk down the path of righteousness. So I don't blame you for the sins that they've committed. For the way they've clouded your mind. But Tommy, you had to be hurt. I don't think the people fully understand what I'm going through here. I don't think the people understand what crosses powerful people like us [looks at Raven] need to carry." "You see Tommy, sometimes when the world, and you in particular, have got me down, I will turn the TV set to WTBS, turn the volume down, and let the basking rays of their good and moral programming ... rain all over me! And as I sit there, in a meditative state, awaiting my next move, awaiting my next challenge, I fell asleep Tommy, and woke up to realize that it had all come to pass. That all my suffering had been worth it! And not only had Tommy Dreamer become a member of World Championship Wrestling, he was their tag team champion!" "But as I wipe the sleep from my eyes I realized it was not Tommy Dreamer holding those belts, they were exact REPLICAS! Tommy, How long do you think the higher minds at WCW were gonna wait for you? They are the big boys in our sport for a simple reason. When they see something the like, they go after it. And if they can't get it ... they'll create their own. But that very thought is the thing that keeps me going. You see Tommy, it's not all through for you. Because all the magic those minds can weave. You see what your mothers and fathers all told you about being anything you want in this world, well, it may not always be true most of the time. But in the magical land of WCW, you truly can be anything you wanna be! I've seen it all a hundred times Tommy. I've seen a tough Jewish kid from Brooklyn [looks at Raven] become a black man from Macon! I've seen a farm kid from Nebraska become an overnight pop star sensation! I've seen a kid from New Hampshire become a Frenchman. And one particular wrestler who went through 5 different incarnations before finding himself heavyweight champion of the world. And though he may be that champion in an entirely different federation, I think if you ask him he would say it was the love, compassion, and monetary compensation he received while part of the WCW family that got him where he is today!" [Editor's Note - Cactus is talking about then WWF Champion Diesel aka Kevin Nash] "I'm not going to underscore ECW because there are some dramatic changes that go on there as well. Oh, yeah. Take the Rotten brothers. Two naive kids with fake English accents suddenly becoming scarred for life mutant freaks! Where are they now? They don't even have a job. Take your beloved Mikey Whipwreck. Mikey Whipwreck went from one of the nicest people I'd ever met to a bumbling fool! You want a challenge in your life then I challenge you to have a meaningful ten word conversation with Mikey Whipwreck. It can't be done! He's had too many concussions! His brain has turned to jello and though it might be real cute now to root for underdog Mikey on his quest for the championship, but wait five years! When he can't hold a job, 30 year old Mikey. 40 year old Mikey. Senile old Mikey. And the ECW fans are causing his demise!" "And then there's Tommy Dreamer, maybe the most stunning transformation of them all. A man on the helm of superstardom, a good looking kid, reduced to a blood thirsty, woman abusing person on a roller coaster trip straight to HELL! Unless I step in and save the day, but Tommy Dreamer you're making that very difficult and you better be thankful that Cactus Jack went through a transformation of his own. It wasn't WCW. It wasn't ECW. It was because one man [points at Raven] had the courage, the strength, and the compassion to open my eyes. And so I'm saying Tommy, the situation is more serious than you would assume. WCW is a proud organization with a reputation for family values and they can't afford to have a woman abusing man screwing up their tv syndication. So Tommy, time is of the essence not because I harbor any hatred towards you but much to the contrary, I love you man, can't you see that?!! And I'm trying to save your spiritual life, but you're making it so damn hard!" "You want proof of what hardcore wrestling can do? And you ask me, well Cactus if you love the place so much why don't you go back? I can't Tommy. It's all over for me. I'm trying to save you. Can't you see that once ECW gets ahold of you for too long you become ruined merchandise. You're no longer marketable, they don't want a scarred freak like Cactus Jack with emotional baggage. And I don't deserve to be forgiven for the insensitive comments I made to Mr. Turner. For the foolish behavior I showed to my dearest Uncle Eric, I deserve to deal on this hell on earth you call ECW. So Tommy, they tell us we got a match October 28. I don't think so! Because I'm counting on your knowledge and just one little bit of common sense to prevail and understand that we're the only friends you've got. [Looks at Raven] It's not those people chanting for your blood. [Raven does crucifix pose] It's these two people praying for your soul. Grant me that serenity, Tommy Dreamer. GRANT IT!" [Promo ends with shot of Raven doing the crucifix].
Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 His encounter with the Rock after Al Snow found his book in the trash can was awesome. Mick: I gave you a gift, something that means a lot to me, and you throw it away? Rock: What is this about your book? Mick: GODDAMMIT! I'm not talking about my book, I'm talking about my life--my blood, my sweat, my tears--and you take all that and you piss on it. I say piss on you--you self-righteous, self-centered, egotistical SON OF A BITCH! Rock: You barge into the Rock's dressing room and you interrupt The Rock? Well, The Rock says this... Mick: No, I say this. I SAY THIS! I don't want to know you, I don't want to work with you, I don't want to fight you, Dwayne. I don't want to even know you exist. You live with that--and GROW UP! God, I was marking out like a sumbitch.
Guest Vitamin X Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 So *THAT'S* why I hated the Rock that year.. Oh my how things change..I actually liked HHH back then..
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 i have so many: hell in the cell vs. undertaker and hhh. winning the title for the first time. beating hhh and austin for the title at summerslam 2000. the rock and sock connection. being vince's son.
Guest alfdogg Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 RAW 1-4-99: Beat the Rock for his first title. KOTR 98: HIAC II. SummerSlam 97: beat HHH clean.
Guest alfdogg Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Would have put Mind Games, but Shawn Michaels is a piece of shit, so he didn't win the title.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Foley's promo on HHH in 1997 when he had all 3 personalities on at the same time. To this day it's the funniest thing ever in the WWE.
Guest TheSmarkzone Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I loved just about everything that he did during his first feud with Taker (April of 1996 to December of 1996). He was too damn deranged for his own good.
Guest humongous2002 Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Mick had so many great moments that I wouldn't be doing any justice if I just mention one of them but the top 3 Foley's greatest moments are: -Winning the WWF title and doing his Rocky Balboa speech. -TIE hell in the cell 98 with Taker and Mind Games with HBK. -His farewell speech from the ECW arena. Damn I sure miss Foley.
Guest TheSoleSurvivor Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Four words, gentlemen. THIS. IS. YOUR. LIFE. I have many others, many of his matches (vs. Vader, Sting, HBK, HHH, Austin, Terry Funk, much of his ECW work) , the JR stuff, Dude Love stuff.....but this is the segment that kept around 8 million viewers glued to their seats.....including me. Just a classic Mick Foley moment.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I like his commentary for the Bossman vs Al Snow Kennel match on the HK:CP DVD. Thats some funny stuff..
Guest caboose Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 When he started climbing back up the Hell In A Cell after being thrown off. I couldn't believe it. Since that moment I've been a diehard Foley fan.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Jobbing in the HITC to HHH. More than anything, that sums up his entire career. I will always remember the walk out of the arena after the match.
Guest JAxlMorrison Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 That crazy asshole climbing back up the cage Winning the WWF title for the 1st time His "sexual harassment" of Tori His return as Commissioner (Mick just got you soda! Mick just got you soda!) His final run as Cactus Jack
Guest kurtangledoesnotsuck Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 After getting thrown off the Cell and then getting stretchered away. ONLY for him to pull himself up from the stretcher and pull away from the officials. Then climbing the cage like a mad man despite having a dislocated shoulder. Watch Dave Hebner when he runs away from the officials. Dave is like " No, Mick, come back" and Jr says " Mankind is going back up.... and so is the Undertaker!" Classic, Classic stuff.
Guest ManKinnd Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 How could I not list going back up the cell? My eyes were wide with chills going up my spine, watching and hearing the crowd go absolutely insane, and JR yelling "Mankind... is gonna go back up!!!"
Guest The Man in Blak Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Match-wise, I'd have to say the HITC with the Undertaker - just goosebumps all the way around. But interview-wise... Mick: But I've gotta say, Rock - but that's gotta put you up there in the elite list of the greatest WWF champions of all time. And I wanna know one thing - how does that make you feel? Rock: Well, the Rock - Mick: IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW IT MAKES YOU FEEL! *crowd pops* Mick: THERE! THERE, I DID IT! *running around the ring* FOLEY! FOLEY! FOLEY! FOLEY! FOLEY! FOLEY! FOLEY! FOLEY! *crowd joins in* Mick: I FINALLY GOT YOU! I FINALLY GOT YOU!
