My Thanksgiving Story.

I was taking turkey orders yesterday, and someone (obviously) wanted a turkey. They paid for the turkey and everything else before I told them what else came with it. The person told me that they needed to ask me a question. I told them to go ahead. They asked me if you could reheat the turkey in a microwave. These Mohammedans asked me if there was pork in THE TURKEY STUFFING AND IF THERE WAS SWEET POTATO IN THE YAMS. I couldn't make this shit up if I tried.   Happy Turkey shit.

Long reviews...

I'm done with them. My attention span is shot, I don't have the time, and, well, yeah. All reviews from now on will be like the RAW and Nitro ones. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Lakers win a thriller, and I am shocked.

I'm partly doing this to move discussion here, hopefully.   The Lakers win, Nash choked and has an injured back. The Lakers had no business being in that ballgame. They got very lucky that Nash positioned himself on the baseline twice.   Hopefully, I'll get some comments to talk about the game, if not, oh well.   I'm just ecstatic that the Lakers will play the Clippers in the 2nd round, and once again the focus of the basketball world will turn to Los Angeles.

I'm so uncontent.

I need to find work. I need a job where I come in contact with a lot of people, because the lack of contact that I've had with people over the last few months due to not having work or class is driving me crazy. I'm probably going to work at the grocery store or some shit so that I can save enough money for this ghetto JuCo up the street. It's not like I have to pay a car payment or an insurance payment, because I gave my older, already paid for car to my brother so that I wouldn't have to pay the insurance. I don't pay rent either, only for my food out of money that I earn doing odd jobs.   I'm broke as fuck, and not really liking my situation right now. It's not like I'm some fat slob that's just sitting here on the computer all day doing nothing, I'm a healthy guy that has been doing stuff every day in order to curve my boredom. That stuff costs, and I'm out of a way to pay for it. It's not like there's something wrong with me that's keeping me from getting a job, but for some reason, I don't have one. I've looked for work constantly. I'm pretty fortunate to be where I am right now, with people that care about me, but I need to find something for myself. I feel kinda empty. If this sounds like some angsty rant, well, it probably is, because I'm tired and pissed off at myself right now. After all, that's what blogs are for, pissing and moaning.

I need to look for work....AGAIN.

I don't have a problem with my job, but I've gotta find a different place to work. The managers ride me so hard that I feel like Secretariat. Embarass me in front of customers, the whole nine yards.   I applied to work at a new store, and I was hired with the belief that I would be working there when it opened. I went up to the front to ask when the new store would be opened, and if I was going to be going to work there, as my co-workers had told me that I may not be going. I was ignored....blown off, like I wasn't allowed to ask. I didn't think I was being rude, or asking anything that I shouldn't be asking. Apparently, I was. I don't ask for a whole lot at work. I don't care about my pay, and I don't care about the hours that I have to work, or how hard (or easy) my work is. I try to get in, collect my paycheck and do my shit, and get out. The only thing that I want is a modicum of respect, or at least a slight inclination that my superiors care about my work. I've never complained once, about anything that they've asked me to do.   They don't fucking care, so why should I? I don't have to be treated like shit, because I don't have bills to pay and wouldn't be in financial trouble if I quit. SO, I filled out some applications today. It felt pretty fucking good, looking for a different place to work. The only thing that I'm afraid of, is that it's going to be the same way everywhere I go. The sad thing is, I know it's always going to be this way, and yet I get my hopes up over nothing. I really don't know what to do. I can't go back to sitting here all day doing nothing, I'd go fucking nuts.   I'm just really confused. The only thing that I'm sure of is that I won't be working at my store for very much longer. I don't need to be treated like shit. After that, everything's in the air.

I don't edit my blog entries, and I have more. George Karl sucks.

I was surfin' the net cause I'm bored, and I came across some dumbass shit that George Karl said. I only take this sports shit so seriously because it's a release from the real world, and honestly, I have enough shit to worry about in real life. I like piling more shit up, and I need something else to worry about. SOOOOO   Hey George, call me when you win something. LOLZ   Seriously though, the guy needs to worry about his own team. If my team was in such a shitty state that the Nuggets are currently in, I know I wouldn't be watching the Lakers play the Blazers. But then again, that's why he's George Karl, and that's why he hasn't won shit. And apparently, never will with that attitude.   And one last thing...   Cool shit. The game was in New Orleans, and I think that was the only time that I haven't seen an arena full when the Lakers take their show on the road. I think the city needs to take care of other business before bringing basketball back. Just my opinion.   Oh yeah, Kobe scored 50 again tonight. He and Wilt stand together as the only players to score 50 in 4 straight games. You can say what you want about Jordan, but I haven't seen a player this dominant in my entire life. Except for Shaq, but his game wasn't perfect. I honestly can't say that there's something basketball related (saving potential rape joke) that Kobe could be better at. His game is perfect. Sadly though, I don't know how much longer he'll be able to go before his knees start giving out on him. It seems like he loses more and more hop as the games go by.   But maybe I'm just so used to watching him that I expect too much. Well, I do, but he hasn't failed to meet my expectations yet.

Heisman Stuff

Well, we now know who the Heisman finalists are, and is there any surprise? I think that there should have been more guys invited than there were, namely Brady Quinn and Drew Olson, but the voters did pick the correct 3 players.   I think that the Heisman winner should be Reggie Bush, but the fact that Vince Young had one of the best seasons in recent memory should not be forgotten. If Vince had performed like this last year, he would have been the guy going for his second Heisman, and not Matt Leinart. Also, it's nice to see that the 3 Heisman finalists will all be in the National Title game.   Some other stuff:   The Lakers played well tonight, I hope to see the development of Lamar Odom in the triangle progress.   The Kings beat the Leafs last night, which ended their 4 game downer. They play Carolina tomorrow.   The Dodgers are looking to acquire Alfonso Soriano, which isn't a move that I'm too sold on. I don't like his defensive play and his "all-or-nothing" swing won't really work in Los Angeles.   Comments are wanted and appreciated.

Hardcore Heaven 1997...wait, wrestling? What?

In case you're wondering why I'm posting a review of some rasslin' shit, it's because I actually started watching it again. No, not the current WWE product. I couldn't watch that shit if I tried. Rather, their 24/7 on demand channel. I never thought I'd watch wrestling again, but I got sucked back in. Once my cable company picked up this channel, I couldn't help it.   I'm reviewing this stuff mainly for my own amusement, but also for those that don't have the channel and haven't seen these events before. Starting next week, I'm going to write full reviews, with blow-by-blow and the like. But, this batch of shows in the Big Ones section is going to be reviewed in a short form. No blow by blow, just my general thoughts on the match and ratings. I'm not going to sit through this show again and take notes, and if you're reading, you'll soon find out why. Take these short reviews as a test run for me to smooth out some kinks, they aren't going to be perfect. Anyhow....   ECW Hardcore Heaven 1997, from Fort Lauderdale, FL.   A Rick Rude sighting to start out and a shitty promo to come with it, as he introduces Chris Candido.   For the ECW TV Title: Taz (c.) w/Bill Alfonso v. Chris Candido.   First note, the dubbed music on these shows sucks. Terry Funk's is unintentionally hilarious (no, I don't know if it was dubbed or not), but, my thoughts on the match.   Match didn't work for me. Lots of sloppy spots and a finish I didn't particularly care for. Quite possibly the best match on the show, unfortunately. Not too long, not too short. Finish seemed sorta rushed, as it went from Taz hitting a few moves, Candido hitting a move, putting Taz up on the turnbuckle, Taz "waking up", and Taz choking Candido out with the Tazmission. Gay. I don't think much of Taz as a worker, he doesn't sell anything and has little in-ring psychology. For the rating...**. I've seen much worse.   They showed a little clip of the Insane Clown Posse getting the shit kicked out of them by RVD and Sabu (in a suit, huh? I don't figure him as the suit wearing type.), with Fonzie carrying Sabu's World Title and blowing his whistle as per usual. And it gets on my nerves after a while. This leads to something later.   2nd match, Bam Bam Bigelow v. Spike Dudley in a "Revenge Match".   I don't know what the "Revenge Match" billing is for, and I'm not going to pretend that I do. Almost everything they show on this channel, I haven't watched. Spike gets beat up and does a blade-job. Not much to see here, except for the vicious powerbomb toward the end. Bam Bam finished with a Bam Bam sault, not a true moonsault because he doesn't do a flip, more like a 360 turn splash or something. 1/2*. I liked Bam Bam's techno music.   To follow up on the ICP angle/clip/whatever, Sandman comes to the ring to help them out, gets the shit kicked out of him by RVD and Sabu, and does an ambulance job. More later.   3rd match, Al Snow v. "Mr. Monday Night" RVD w/Bill Alfonso in a "Monday Night Rules Match."   Terrible match. I really enjoy Al Snow's work, but it didn't do anything for me here. Couple blown spots by both guys, pointless stipulation, and no heat. When they hit their spots, it was nice. They didn't hit enough of them. The best spot was the first long running clothesline from Snow, as he ran the full length of the entrance aisle to pickup steam. No heat on any of the matches so far, I noticed. At best, decent, that's if I'm being kind, and this show put me in a rotten mood. Nearly fell asleep twice. *1/2, finished with a VanDaminator. I tuned out the whistling this time.   Next, one of three "Extreme Chopper" segments where they follow the Sandman after he "stole/tookover" the ambulance and is on his way back to the arena. A waste of money on ECW's part, it's a terrible segment. I don't know if this angle got "rave reviews" back in the day or not, but if it did, it absolutely DOES NOT hold up.   4th match, the Dudleys (c.) w/Joel Gertner, Big Dick, Sign Guy Dudley and Jenna Jameson v. PG-13, ring announcer didn't say if it was a tag title match or not, so I'll guess not.   Passable. I liked it, but the ring entrances (not just for this match) are WAY too long, and the dubbed music sucks. Kinda kills my enjoyment of the show, but I don't know if things would have been different had the show actually been worth a shit up to this point. Jenna Jameson is with the Dudleys, and I think she looks pretty good here. Hard to say when you know how things change, isn't it? 3D finishes PG-13, two unfunny white boys that couldn't cut their pre-match promo for shit. **.   2nd "Extreme Chopper" segment. Fastforward....oh wait. End of part one. I waited two days before watching part two, which I just finished, so my memory is much fresher.   5th match, Jerry Lawler vs. Tommy Dreamer w/Beulah.   Lawler cut this same promo during part 1. It was terrible the first time, FF worthy the next. Match went like this. Brawl on outside, two minutes in, blade-job Lawler, brawl, ok, enough of 3 word descriptions. After they brawl for a bit, lights go out, and Rick Rude hits Dreamer with a trash can when the lights come back on. Not the fake, paper-thin kind they use now, this one's thicker and looks like it could do a little damage. I don't remember at which point this happened, but Lawler ripped off Tommy's shirt. Well, now I know why Tommy wears a shirt. He has bitch-tits from past steroid abuse. He's off the juice, as one could see, and packing some extra pounds. They brawl some more, and the lights go out again. This time, JAKE THE FUCKING SNAKE ROBERTS is out there when the lights come on and does a little work to both Lawler and Dreamer, eventually DDT'ing Dreamer. More brawl, and the lights go out again! Come on. This time, Sunny's in the ring, gives Dreamer some hair-spray and has a little cat-fight roll around with Beulah, and then Tommy hits the DDT on Lawler for the win. Overbooked crap, and, if you noticed, that's close to a full review, as these guys didn't do much worth noting otherwise. Nearly treaded into negative star territory, but I'll give it a DUD. I liked ECW, but this show sucks.   Sandman beats up some cops as he gets back to the arena, this was led in by another "Extreme Chopper" segment, which I fastforwarded past. Lance Wright was giving commentary on these shitty segments, btw.   6th match, Sabu (c.) w/Bill Alfonso vs. "The Franchise" Shane Douglas w/Francine vs. Terry Funk, in a Three Way Dance for the ECW Heavyweight Championship of the World.   I'm going to give this a two part review, as the match drastically changed (in what way, you'll see) when the first participant left the match. Hilarious country dub to Funk's music, the lyrics of the song were great.   Part 1: Sabu hit some nice spots, fucked up one spot where he stepped on a chair to do a moonsault and it bent downwards, causing him to call into the ropes. It got a nice "You Fucked Up" chant from the fans (loudest they've been all night, sad really) which I always love to hear. First run-in is Tod Gordon, who makes his way down as Alfonso helps Sabu set-up a table. A bit of brawling leaves Sabu stuck up on the top rope for about a minute and a half, then Gordon and Alfonso get put on the table and driven through it by a Sabu legdrop. Then Sandman runs in and hits Sabu with a ladder, leading to Sabu getting pinned by both Douglas and Funk.   Stop here. Do not watch the rest of the match. This part gets **1/4, undoubtedly the best match on the show. Up to that point, anyway.   Part 2: Ok, now, after Sabu gets pinned, the match gets ignored for 2 or 3 minutes as Sabu and Sandman commence brawling to the back. Douglas and Terry Funk are the ones left, if you haven't noticed. My main problem with everything after the pin is that the champion is the one whose been eliminated, but the thing is, all the focus was taken off the actual TITLE FIGHT when Sandman and Sabu began brawling. It upstaged the match in the ring, but on second thought, that may have been a good thing. The rest really sucked. Bit of brawling as Funk hits himself in the head with a garbage can on the outside, purposefully, at that. Dory Funk comes out (now this is the loudest part of the show), and nails Douglas in the head a few times, FF about a minute, and the Franchise hits the Belly-to-Belly, becoming the NEW ECW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD. This part gets *, giving the match a full rating of *3/4. Bad math, I know.   Joel Gertner hits the ring after Douglas puts a sound ass-whoopin on Funk for a minute, and asks Shane to leave the Triple Threat and join a new stable, the Triple Crown, with both Buh Buh and and D-Von. Bam Bam and Candido (the other members of the Triple Threat) hit the ring, and commence brawling. There were guys (the FBI among others)that I didn't mention standing in the entrance aisle , they join in and get their asses wiped out (I should use a different figure of speech next time, huh) by both teams, this goes on for too long, and someone else hits the ring. It's Balls and Axl Rotten, they get beat up, so New Jack and Kronus gotsta hit the ring and turn the tide. Saturn follows on a bad leg and hits an elbow from the top. Celebrate, yadayadayada and the face groups grab Gertner from the outside and give him a nice, clean concussion chairshot and the shows over.   What a fucking waste of 3 hours. I'll never watch this crap again. The crowd didn't get involved, the matches sucked, the angles sucked, basically everything sucked. Too many run-ins in each match killed any flow the show had going, on top of that, the garbage wrestling ECW brought to the table tonight didn't offer anything. Un-entertaining. Was ECW testing to see how many PPV viewers they'd lose in November, as each performance was mailed in. If the talent doesn't give a crap, I don't give a crap.   *1/2 rating for the whole thing, not worth watching unless you've never seen it.   I'll do something else soon, and like I said, once 24/7 gets updated, full reviews are on the way of the MNW and NWA show. At my own pace though, I'm not rushing through anything. Until next time...

Going in a new direction.

So, I guess this thing is going to become my Dodger/Kings/Lakers rant blog. I've got a lot to say after every game, and I guess this is going to be my platform to say it. After the Dodger game tonight, I'll update again.

Dodgers v. Phillies 4.07.06

Baez.   I guess he's the Dodger closer for right now, and with the way he pitched tonight, it's not something the Dodgers need to worry about. Hong-Chih Kuo could be a good setup guy, because he has pretty good control. The Dodger starting pitching will be the downfall of this team, and Tomko isn't very good. At all.   The injury situation for LA is not good right now. Kent has an elbow problem that he's playing through, Furcal has a messed up shin, and Nomar is Nomar. If Drew stays healthy (yeah right), the Dodgers can be a dangerous team.   I have no doubt that they'll win the division, but at this point they don't look like a team that can win a round in the playoffs. It's still early, so there's plenty to see from this team. Including injuries.   The Phillies don't look like a very good team. They don't have the pitching, and for whatever reason, their hitting isn't there either. I don't see any reason to worry about the hitting, because it'll come around, but the pitching situation is bleak. If Philly doesn't turn it around quick, Manuel's going to be the fall guy. Looks like it may be another long season in Philadelphia, and I know exactly how it feels.   I won't post on Lakers/Suns tonight, mainly because I have no desire to see LA get beat up by a clearly superior team. 30 point win for Phoenix tonight.

Bynum cried last night.

Yeah, Phil made the big guy cry. Holy Christ, this is like, the last problem the team needs. I'm gonna blame big PJ and Kobe on that one, because at some point you've gotta stop tearing into the guy. At least we've had other guys that cried on the court.     He turned out ok. The only bad part about this, is that in Laker Nation, it has totally made everyone forget that we won. All I know is, I saw Bynum tell Kobe "fuck you". Big no-no.     See for yourself.   I was gonna say something about watching ManU and Chelsea in their respective FA Cup replays, but this really threw me off.

As I hinted at in a thread...

Yeah, I'm turning this into a Liverpool Football Club blog. We'll see how long that lasts. I usually have a shitload to say about my favorite club and never quite get around to saying it. Now I will. After the Villa match tomorrow, I'll give player ratings...a rant on the new stadium and ownership...preview for international duty (for each player and the United States for that matter)...and lastly, a wrap-up of our transfer dealings this summer, and my opinions on the new acquisitions. I'll post about other leagues too, whenever something comes to mind. I probably won't get bored with this, unlike when I kept this as a wrestling blog. I usually have tons to say about football. Sometimes it'll be related to our Americans playing in Europe, like Jozy Altidore with Villarreal. I doubt many people will read this. Maybe that's a positive.   Today I watched West Ham vs. Blackburn...   Quality of football was dire outside of the goalscoring moments. Which were admittedly quite nice, especially Bellamy's volley. I wish he was able to stay healthy, we'd have kept him.   Arsenal vs. Newcastle   Newcastle were dire. Could've been a lot worse. Barton is a thug, but I found it funny how after his challenge on Nasri, he smiled. What a guy.   Sampdoria vs. Inter Milan   Maureen's introduction to Italian football was a rough one. I really like Antonio Cassano. Fantastic player. Ibrahimovic took his chance well, but Inter found themselves under seige late. Mourinho should be glad to have got the point.   Valencia vs. Mallorca   Silva + Villa = Champions League football. If both can stay fit and in form. This David Villa is far improved from his play last season, prior to Euro '08. He was really bad until the Euro. Afterward...wow.   Tomorrow I'm going to watch   Aston Villa vs. Liverpool Numancia vs. Barcelona Fiorentina vs. Juventus (some of this match, like during time between Barca match and the other, and during halftime of...) Deportivo La Coruna vs. Real Madrid.   Of the three non-Pool matches, looking forward to the last one the most. No van der Vaart and no Ruud should leave Madrid with a very tough test. Both guys were sent off during the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup last week at the Bernabeu.

9/3/2008- The players who came in

Alan Curbishley resigned today. I was expecting that. Now West Ham have some looking to do to find the right manager.   The first man we brought in was Swiss international, Phillip Degen, who came from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.   Degen did not play too well in the preseason, but nevertheless, he looks like a full back who has the gung-ho offensive mentality down pat. Defensively, he sucks. On a free, it's a good deal. He's better than Voronin. Do I think he'll matter much to this team? Nope. If Arbeloa goes down, Jamie Carragher will step in at right back and Degen will not become a regular. Second man in, was Andrea Dossena, who joined from Udinese for 7 million pounds.   This is a lot of money for a left back. A lot. Fortunately, he's pretty good! Great going forward, not so great in defense, but good enough. Provides a really good ball, and is quite fast. I still have my doubts.   Next up, joining from Palmeiras in Brazil for three million pounds, was goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.   We signed him so we could get rid of Charles Itandje. Unfortunately we could not get rid of Itandje. I've seen some good things out of Diego. Some bad. All in all he is a very unproven player and I shudder to think what would happen if Reina were out for an extended period.   Our fourth, and quite possibly most astute pickup, was David N'Gog, who joined from Paris St. Germain for 1.5 million pounds.   The kid has quality, but isn't very polished. It'll take a while to get him where we need him to be. What he is, is very quick...has great size, and a pretty good shot. Intrigued by this lad. He scored two nice goals in the preseason, one of them coming against Rangers. Four days later came what was no doubt the biggest signing, Robbie Keane joining from Tottenham Hotspur for an astounding 20.3 million pounds.   To be fair, the money figure is a ridiculous number. Knowing what I've seen so far, this has a good chance to be a flop of epic proportions. We do not have the money (yet) to waste on flops. We've gotta get bang for our buck, and Keane hasn't brought it yet. The match on the 13th against United is the best time for Keane to make his mark. He had better do something soon, or support will turn on him. We've got Marseille a few days later, that's another chance. Keane must score in one of these games. You give the guy the #7 shirt at this club, he better perform.   The final signing, coming on the last day for transfers, was Spaniard Albert Riera, who joined from Espanyol for what is as of yet an unknown fee.   If he doesn't solve the left wing problem, this is just more money poured into a problem position that Rafa hasn't quite figured out how to solve. Honestly, I'm not a fan of this move at all. I don't care how much it cost. Riera provides a good ball from the left side. That's it. He's slow, does not finish well, and flopped at City. A fantastic signing. Well, if he only cost 1 million pounds. But he didn't. He'll be here for two years and get shipped back home.   Tomorrow, international duty.

9/2/2008- Transfer window closed, now for analysis

This entry is going to be about the transfer window. Today's for the players we sent out. This transfer window was somewhat light in the movement of star quality. With the money going in to Man City and soon enough us once Hicks and Gillett sell, next summer will certainly not be the same. Matter of fact, our owners are going back to the bargaining table with Dubai. It's gonna happen soon.   Anyway, we'll go in order. I'll include a picture for each. Okay, that's a lie. Don't think I'll cover youth players.   The first man headed out the door was John Arne Riise, to Roma for 4 million pounds.   A fair sum of money for the Norway international, but to be honest, I'm quite surprised that Roma of all teams were the ones to want him. The phrase square peg in a round hole comes to mind. He doesn't fit their style of football at ALL. I read he played well in their match against Napoli this weekend. Shocking. He still has it in him to prove himself as a top left back, but he blew it against Chelsea last year in the Semis. He had to go. Hopefully he has a few great hits like the one against PSV away during the knockout round in 2007.   Second up was Anthony Le Tallec, heading to Le Mans for about 1 million pounds.   Thank fuck.   The third man to join a new club was Harry Kewell, who joined Galatasaray on a free.   Leeds supporters were pretty pissed that Kewell joined Galatasaray. After all, there was that big incident a few years back. They should be mad! We'd have kept Kewell if he could stay fit, but he can't, so that's it for him. He's already scored twice in Turkey. By the way.   Peter Crouch headed to Portsmouth for 11 million pounds, which is, to be frank, insane.   The move gave us a real nice influx of funds we desperately needed, so, I was glad. But like I said, 11 million pounds is insane. He came off the bench for us, surely Portsmouth could've held out and gave less. I was quite happy to see him head out, Chelsea supporter he and his pops are. See ya.   Danny Guthrie moved to the northeast, Newcastle specifically, for 2.25 million pounds.   He had to go too. It's for the best. Maybe at a later date he'll be able to come back, but right now, he can't fit into the side. Guthrie has been pretty good for Newcastle. Of all the players we sent out, Guthrie's the one with the brightest future ahead of him. We should've had a buyback clause put into the move. We may have, but I doubt it. Soon enough we'll find out.   Scott Carson finally headed out on a permanent move, to West Bromwich Albion for 3.25 million pounds.   Carson blew this one for us. Had he played well, that fee could've doubled. Fuck him, and his stupid blundering ass. Had to happen.   And now we get to the moves which took place on the final day. Steve Finnan made his exit, heading to La Liga side Espanyol, for an undisclosed fee.   Finnan's a loyal servant to the club, and truthfully, this is the only exit this summer that actually bothered me. If Xabi Alonso left I would've been really bothered, but Xabi didn't. I've got respect for any player from the Isles that makes his way to the continent. Doesn't happen very often, matter of fact, I think he and Tyrone Mears are the only ones to head out this window. I'm trying to recall any other players from the Isles that play on the continent currently, but I can't. I don't think there are any. Last, and definitely least, Andriy Voronin headed to Hertha Berlin on a one year loan deal.   He tried to silence the Kop after scoring against Lazio. What a fucking moron. He's so shit we can't sell him, eventually we'll just stick him in the reserves after he disappoints in Germany. Let him rot. At least we got him on a free and only paid his wages, not a fee of any sort.     Tomorrow I'll talk about the guys that came in. Then international duty on Thursday.

8/31/2008- Aston Villa vs. Liverpool

Not the best of performances today, but you take what you can get. I thought we played better today than we did against Sunderland or Boro. I'll start with player ratings.   Pepe Reina: 6. Only had to make one or two saves, did it, and looked shaky otherwise. Played far better in mid-week against Standard Liege. Alvaro Arbeloa: 6. Got forward well, looked really strong and like a top right back, except for that whole passing thing. Failed to set up chances. Jamie Carragher: 8. Rock at the back, most consistent performer thus far. Legend. Martin Skrtel: 7. Got burned by Young and Agbonlahor a few times, but stayed steady and didn't allow them to provide the final ball. Happy with his performance. Andrea Dossena: 7. Wouldn't want to run into him after a night of drinking. Tough as fuck. Lucas: 5. Jetlagged, played out of position. Not good. Javier Mascherano: 7. Driving force. Hope to see this man in our shirt until he returns home and plays the rest of his days at River Plate. Xabi Alonso: 7. He's back on form. We don't need Gareth Barry as long as Xabi keeps this up. Sunderland, Standard, and Villa have been great games for him, better than all of last season. Dirk Kuyt: 6. Played alright. Robbie Keane: 5. Looks like a bad buy if I'm being honest. Fernando Torres: 6. Would've scored if not for the injury. Hope he misses international duty and nothing more.   Subs   David N'Gog: 5. Lazy, but had the best chance. Still a kid, will get better. Fabio Aurelio: 6. Also better than last season, if he had played like this, we would've got a left back on a free to back him up, and not bought Dossena. Yossi Benayoun: N/A. Wrong idea, didn't get a touch. Probably would've put Babel in as a front-man here.   Rafa: 4. Made bad subs, and the formation was all out of whack. The lads looked lively at the beginning of the second half, but it didn't last.   Villa's best player was Nigel Reo-Coker.   The big story today is the Torres injury. How long is he going to be out? Hopefully not too long. We cannot afford to lose him for United at Anfield and Marseille away. Both United and Marseille are missing their top wingers (Ronaldo and Ben Arfa), so would this balance that out? Really, hell no, it wouldn't. We still haven't played a match with everyone available for selection. Now Riera's coming in too. He better perform, if he bottles it against United, safe to say the lad will never settle in. Hopefully Gerrard plays on the right so that both Alonso and Mascherano can stay in the lineup. If not, Alonso's the guy out.   Now, for the other matches I watched today...   AC Milan vs. Bologna   I woke up real early, as the temptation got me. I had to see Ronaldinho play for Milan. I had to see Shevchenko make his return. Fortunately, Ronaldinho didn't disappoint. Massimo Ambrosini headed in a beautiful cross from Ronaldinho. Ronnie's back. Doesn't look fit though. Sheva missed two golden chances, but he'll score plenty of goals this season. He just hasn't had a consistent run of matches in a while. The talent is still there. Bologna won after a fantastic goal from Francesco Valiani. Still think Milan are going to win Serie A.   Numancia vs. Barcelona   Well, Barca put in a stunning performance. In the worst way possible. Lionel Messi looked like the only one who brought his boots. The rest of his teammates played terribly. Henry had a great chance but missed, Eto'o had another great chance, but hit the crossbar. That's about it. Hleb should've started in place of Yaya Toure. Deep down, I expected they'd have a rough time against the La Liga new boys, because they'd never won at Numancia. Numancia won 1-0, thanks to a great goal from Mario.   Fiorentina vs. Juventus   I wound up watching more of this match than I thought I would. Highly interesting. Pavel Nedved opened the scoring in the 39th minute after a nice cross from Zdenek Grygera. A Czech Republic Connection! Alessandro Del Piero played strong and created some great chances for new addition Amauri, but the former Palermo striker couldn't finish. Too bad, he looks quality. In the second half, Stevan Jovetic, a new 18 year old addition from Partizan Belgrade, came in and played a strong game. Not strong as in hard to knock off the ball, because he was actually quite easy to knock off the ball. He provided a spark and set up a few free-kick chances, which new left back Juan Manuel Vargas failed to capitalize on. New Fiorentina defensive midfielder Felipe Melo was sent off after a reckless challenge on new Juventus man Cristian Poulsen, and from there, the match really picked up. Alberto Gilardino blew quite a few chances this match, until scoring a brilliant, hard-work goal, leveling the match in the 89th minute. Here's the goal. The match would stay level, and end at a 1-1 draw. Fantastic match, great result for the Viola. Although Mario Santana had no factor in the goal, he played fantastic. Man of the Match in my opinion. Because I watched so much of this, I didn't watch so much of this...   Deportivo La Coruna vs. Real Madrid   Good, back and forth match, which ended 2-1 for Deportivo. Both of their goals were scored on headers from set pieces, and Ruud van Nistelrooy banged home a goal (in the box of course), after a defensive mistake. No doubt a disappointing result for the defending La Liga Champions, but they haven't won at Deportivo in 17 years. 18 years now. Mexican Andres Guardado was the best player for the winning outfit, but they suffered an injury, as substitute Riki tore his hamstring while bursting down the left side late. Too bad.     Tomorrow I'll discuss our transfer dealings, as the window closes. Tuesday I'll talk about international duty for LFC players, and our World Cup Qualifying match against Cuba, in Havana.

3.25, US Soccer, and El Tri.

The US won 3-1 today against Ecuador. I thought the team looked like crap in the first half, but came out to play in the second half. It was the Landon Donovan show out there, as his hat-trick performance obviously shows. The attendance at the game was in the 31,000 range, and most of the fans were American, so FINALLY the USMNT is starting to drum up some support. The only unfortunate part about this is that support should have been drummed up after we got to the Quarterfinals of the 02 WC, but that's another matter. Anyways, next game's Wednesday at 9:00 EDT on ESPN2 against Guatemala, and the next after that is in June against China. The Guates will get throttled.   El Tri won 2-1 today. Fucking gay. They're our bitches anyway, so I don't care. I hope that they play Bofo next time we face them, because that way they won't get any goals. Lucky ass Mexicans.   Tomorrow I'll talk about something else.

3.24, KAZAKHSTAN and soccer.

Since I watch a lot of soccer, and there was another round of Euro 2008 qualifiers today, I thought that I should post this, as it will tie in with what I was gonna blog today.   Now, as someone that's followed the beautiful game (fuck you guys that dissent or call that a faggot name, it is) for a while, this came as a shock. Serbia and Montenegro qualified for the World Cup that took place last year in Germany. However, after the World Cup, the football federations peacefully split, just as the countries had months before. Even though the countries split, only one of the players that played for the unified team during the World Cup was of Montenegrin origin, thus the Serbian team was at full strength.   The Borats (it's much easier for me to type this instead of Kazakhs, even though I prefer not to refer to them as Borats) are ranked 143rd in the world, and the likes of Eritrea, Antigua and Barbuda, Palestine, and Equatorial Guinea are ranked ahead of them. The Serbs are ranked 28th, and for comparison, the US is ranked 30th (needless to say, this will change with the Serbian loss). The mere fact that the Borat's were able to hold a 2-0 lead over the Serbs is astounding, and it's even more astounding that they were able to beat the Serbs. They haven't won a competitive game since entering European competition. I figured that they'd pick up their first win against Armenia, but I digress.   MOVING ON   I wish I could find this video of something I saw today. I was watching Norway-Bosnia earlier, and the fans peppered the field with fireworks and flares. The Bosnians were protesting some shit that their FA did, so they decided that they wanted to throw fireworks and flares at their own players. The odd thing was that the game was in Oslo, so the only way the Bosnian fans could get the flares in was by sticking them in their assholes. It didn't even happen in Bosnia. Go figure that one out.     The US plays Ecuador tomorrow, at a comfortable 12:00 EDT start time, on ESPN2. Big transition period for the US, as we're getting guys like McBride, Pope and Reyna out of the picture, and getting some of the youngin's like Jay Demerit, Taylor Twellman (PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD) and after the U-21 World Cup, Freddy Adu into the picture. I'm jazzed, I think we'll handle the Ecuadorians with a score of 1-0. Ecuador struggles when they have to come down out of altitude, so considering that this game's in Tampa, now's the time to get some confidence going into this summer's Gold Cup and Copa America.   That's it for now, I'll talk about how the above game went tomorrow.

3.21, Teh Sopranos.

Ok, so I rented the 1st disc of Season 1 from the library a few days ago and just finished it. I thought it was cool, but not ass-blastingly overwhelming, so what I'm trying to ask is, is it worth it to continue on? I love watching almost anything m0b-related, so I just wanna know if it's worth it.   If anyone comes across this and wants to answer my question, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT.   Predictions for the Thursday and Friday NCAA tourney games will be made tomorrow.

12/5/05

When I can't think of a good title I'll just use the date, but I think right now it's the right time to talk about the Dodgers signing Rafael Furcal and one of the important games in the NFL that took place on Sunday.   So, the Dodgers signed Rafael Furcal to a 3 year 40 million dollar contract. This makes them a contender in a poor NL West and I think that if JD Drew can magically find a way to avoid the injury bug, we could be looking at a 90 win team. Furcal creates run opportunities for the team and that's something that the Dodgers haven't had since they traded Dave Roberts. I'm looking forward to see what he can do in L.A..   Was anyone else shocked that the Bengals actually went into Heinz Field and beat the Steelers? I think Carson Palmer is one of the better quarterbacks in the league and that by the end of his career, he could have a few rings on his fingers. Chad Johnson disappointed, but I don't know if that was due to his ankle being injured during the game or not.   Ben Roethlisberger is a gamer, enough said.   As usual, comments are wanted and appreciated.
