Here some other News:
Masahiro Chono said this morning at the Narita Airport that Brock Lesnar would be coming to New Japan Pro Wrestling for the 10/8 show at the Tokyo Dome. New Japan president Simon Inoki has not made the official announcement regarding Lesnar.
A couple of interesting points in today's Sankei Sports newspaper about the Brock Lesnar announcement. First, Lesnar is indeed Inoki's "super-important foreigner" that he wanted Kazuyuki Fujita to face for the IWGP title. Second, Lesnar is being mentioned as New Japan's meal ticket (their anchor) to get onto American PPV and "speed up" the globalization of their product. Remember a couple of months ago when I talked about how the Japanese love to use the term "kokusai-ka" (internationalization) into every conversation they ever have? Same situation here. Of course, we saw what internationalization meant to New Japan when they had Tiger Mask IV & Hiroyoshi Tenzan order pizza from Pizza Hut to represent their tour series last June in Italy.
Naomichi Marufuji has been pulled off the 9/18 Nippon Budokan show due to a left knee injury. The matches on the card have been changed, now showing Minoru Suzuki vs. Mohammed Yone and Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Takeshi Morishima. The 9/18 Budokan show is not sold out in advance, unlike other Budokan shows in the past.
Sankei Sports reports that Kazuyuki Fujita held an interview with the press on Tuesday regarding the 10/8 Tokyo Dome. Fujita noted that a 3-way dance between himself, Chono, and Lesnar for the IWGP belt is possible. The winner of the match would have to get two wins (over both opponents). In other words, similar rules to the "dogfight" match that happened on 1/4 with Chono, Tenzan, and Choshu.
All Japan announced the signing of the wrestlers formerly known as The Dudley Boys. Their first appearance is on 9/30 at Korakuen Hall. They are expected to be one of the teams in the 2005 Real World Tag League.
There is more coming soon...so keep it here...
