Now for the Indy News:

Newly promoted Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) commissioner Dino Winwood's first solo event seemed to be going pretty well, until things got out of control, that is. First, Scott Lost interfered on behalf of Joey Ryan. Then Joey hit Dino with a chair. Then Joey interfered on behalf of Scott. Then Chris Bosh punched a ref. Then Chris Bosh won the match and was the new champion. Then Kevin Steen was still champion. Then Dino Winwood learned first hand about stomach ulcers.

The biggest news of the evening came when Chris Bosh actually pinned PWG Champion Kevin Steen, but the result was immediately overturned, as Bosh was disqualified for striking PWG official Marty Valenza earlier in the match. Kevin Steen felt that this was an extremely fortunate turn of events, but Bosh, along with many fans, felt this was extremely unfair. Commissioner Winwood decided to make lemonade out of the situation, and give Chris Bosh a rematch! Not only is Chris Bosh getting a rematch, but former PWG Champion AJ Styles is getting a rematch! Wha huh?! That's right! AJ Styles, who did not receive his rematch for the title, pinned Steen during the Battle of Los Angeles, is also demanding a rematch against Chris Bosh, who defeated him in the finals of BOLA 2005! The only way to possibly make sense of all these convoluted rivalries is to make the main event of "Straight To DVD" a 3 Way Match for the PWG Championship, with "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen defending the title against "Photogenic" Chris Bosh and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles!

Also taking place at "Straight To DVD" on Friday, October 14 at 8PM at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC is:

- Newly crowned PWG Tag Team Champions Super Dragon & Davey Richards vs. Chris Sabin & Petey Williams! Sabin and Williams were originally meant to face 2 Skinny Black Guys for the titles, but Sabin's injury forced a change in plans. Now that he's 100%, he and Williams intend to make this the 2nd shortest tag title reign in PWG history (The shortest is like 13 hours, so it's a tough one to beat.)

- Joey Ryan vs. El Generico! With Joey's recent (questionable) victories over vastly technically superior opponents, he's gotten a bit of a big head. Everyone is sick of hearing about it, especially Dino, who is going to throw a little "ole!" Joey's way to deflate his oversized mellon!

- Scott Lost vs. Chris Hero! Scott helped Joey Ryan defeat Chris Hero at "After School Special," and immediately after the match, Hero demanded a shot at one of the two! Dino obliged, but already has plans for Joey, so Hero can take out his frustration on "The Professional!"

- "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels vs. Scorpio Sky! Scorpio Sky still wants his revenge on Scott Lost, but he's going to have to get in line! Since Chris Hero is already getting a shot at Lost, Dino will give Scorpio Sky a chance to elevate his career by facing the one and only Christopher Daniels!

- Disco Machine vs. Quicksilver! These two met in the frantic six man match at "After School Special," and Quicksilver wants to avenge his team's loss, but Disco intends to prove it was no fluke!

Plus Dino Winwood will answer Joey Ryan's challenge! Also scheduled to appear: TJ Perkins, Top Gun Talwar, Ronin, Hook Bomberry, and More!

Over in the land of OZ (thats Austrlia)

TNT vs Frankie Kazarian vs Super Dragon:

This was the perfect opener. Frankie came out to "You're The Best Around" and was pretty over. Dragon was also over with mabye half the crowd, as was TNT, who was a little sloppy at times but for the most part worked well. “Let’s Go Frankie” and “Super Dragon” chants went head to head, but I think my section got the Dragon chants to be the strongest of the match. Frankie looked very disappointed in me because he came right up to me during his entrance when I was marking for him. Sorry Frankie, you’re great and all and probably one of my favorite performers of the night, but it’s Super Dragon! Dragon saw all the love coming from my section and performed practically all his spots in front of us. A SICK curb stomp to TNT early in the match, followed by the cut throat pose to the delight of the fans. He then followed it up with a slingshot to the outside, delivering a foot stomp to the head of TNT who had his head out on the apron. Think of RVD's slingshot guillotine leg drop to his opponent on the apron, only with a foot stomp. Frankie then did a great Pescado to the outside on both men. A spot took place where all three men were German suplexed at the same time. Dragon nailed a top rope foot stomp to Frankie's head and i'm telling you now the contact was brutal. The sound it made, and jsut watching him bounce off his head was awesome to see live. Psycho Driver was teased but he couldnt nail it. Frankie also delivered a DOUBLE Wave Of The Future to both men at the same time. TNT ended up winning with a Reverse Pedigree Driver on Dragon, and it was quite an impressive head drop version of the maneuver, unlike other versions i have seen (notably Kidman's). Great match!

Test vs Samoa Joe:

Joe was one of the most over people of the night. Dudley Boyz aside, he was probably the 2nd most over along with AJ. His entrance didnt get much of a great reaction, but once he was actually in the ring, half of the arena would not stop chanting for him. For the first 15 minutes of the match, right through till the end. "Joe", "Fuck him up Joe", "Joe's gonna kill you", "Choke that bitch out", "The champ is here", all of these chants rang out through the night. And after Test faked the knee injury (selling it for 5 minutes before attacking Hoe, jsut like he did at the Melbourne show) it just riled up the fans even more. Joe had the most vicious chops of the night, even though he was taking it easy on Test. Test kinda dominated a good 60-70% of the match with generic WWE offense (stomps, punches, kicks etc). He even nailed TWO successful running clotheslines in the corner, which had me stunned because i expected to see an STO. Joe nails Test in the corner some time later in the match and sets him up for what looks like bootscrapes. He nails a couple and then the "Ole" chants begin. God he loved it. He nailed two Ole kicks and the crowd was really starting to get in to him by this point. Shortly after Joe locks in the choke and takes Test down, causing him to tap in about 5 seconds. I loved this match a lot.

Nathan Jones vs Mark Helton (Australian talent):

Helton has some really good potential. I think he is a main eventer on the indy scene up here when I check through local wrestling. He worked really well and bumped well for Nathan Jones. I can’t remember much for this match except for Jones making that stupid “twisted deranged smile” through practically the entire match, and nailing a chokeslam, whether that was for the deciding move or not is another story. Jones wins in a quick squash match.

AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels:

MOTN, but everyone reading should have gathered that already. Daniels was almost as over as AJ and Joe. Duelling “Let’s Go AJ” and “Fallen Angel” chants, almost split 50/50 with a few more AJ fans in attendance. Daniels grabbed the mic and said something along the lines of “You people aren’t worthy enough to chant my name, and I better not hear it again throughout the match etc”, but this confused people, as some people chanted it to piss him off, and some people chanted it to show respect. As for the match, it was just a straight up wrestling bout between these 2, and I think the match went a good 20 minutes at least. Very technical and probably the stiffest match of the night too. Some of the punches and forearms that were landing were just too realistic. Styles dominated the start, with Daniels taking over, and then Styles making the comeback. Spots included a kip up hurricanrana from Styles, as well as a perfect sommersault plancha to the outside. It also looked like he could have landed dangerously on that move but I couldn’t see properly. He also nailed his in-ring Asia Moonsault into a DDT. Daniels heeled it up and kept Styles grounded most of the match. As I said above, Styles was making his comeback and had Daniels beat, but Daniels pulled out a chain from his tights and clocked Styles. He then nailed a SICK and picture perfect Angles Wings on Styles for the pinfall. AJ took that move quite vertically too.

INTERMISSION – The first half of this event was worth the money already.

Gail Kim vs Nidia:

This match almost killed the rest of the show for me. Some smart fans in my section were saying things amongst each other about other female wrestlers they wish ahd come out, like Mickie Knuckles, Lacey etc, and I agree. Mabye it was because Foley no showed, but Nidia stalled inside and outside the ring for I swear, close to 10 minutes. This prompted a hilarious “This match rocks” chant. Some “Me Luv You Long Time” cat calls to Gail Kim, but the crowd was somewhat trying to be respectful. Howeer, the match was just slow and terrible, and 75% of it wasn’t wrestling, just stalling and wasting time. Gail wins with her submission hold she used to use on tv.

Dudley Boys vs Jesus Aguilera (Hardcore Kidd) and Lee Star (Australian talent):

They announced Lee Star as being from Puerto Rico to add more face heat for the Dudley’s, like they needed it. They were over like crazy. They came out to their WWE theme, and wore Dudley shirts that I think were straight outta WWE Shopzone. However this match disappointed me. I heard great reviews from the Melbourne match involving an awesome hardcore Australian talent named Lobo, who Lee Star was replacing that night. He injured himself at the Melbourne show and couldn’t wrestle, but he was hanging around the merchandise stand most of the night. He supposedly bled like a madman, took a cheese grater slicing, some stiff chair shots, a powerbomb and suplex on the outside, and got powerbombed off a ladder on to a thumbtack table. Now as for the Sydney match, it was very tame. I was hoping to see some hardcore action, but the only hardcore bumps that took place were: A bodyslam on top of a ladder to Lee Star, a stiff ladder shot to the face of Jesus, Bubba missing a STANDING senton and grazing the ladder, Lee Star and Jesus with stereo chairshots to the BACKS of the Dudley Boyz, and a Bubba Ray powerbomb off the top rope through a table on Lee Star for the pinfall. Now there might have been one more ladder spot involving Lee Star and Bubba, but I don’t think there was, and if there was I doubt it was impressive. The ladder was small and it didn’t look like any of the bumps weren’t that rough. No blood either. Dudley’s worked comedy spots a lot and kept it pretty watered down. Wassup headbutt and 3D (both the back suplex and real version) were nailed, and the table spot won the match for them.

After the match Bubba cut a promo pretty much saying “Fuck Vince McMahon” and held up a few “TNA” and “Fuck Vince” themed signs up to the cameras. Also got the crowd to chant TNA.

Main event – Rhino© vs Jeff Jarrett:

Pretty average match and I was kidna drained by the time it came by. Rhyno was pretty over and Jarrett had great heel heat. LOTS of people yelling out some pretty vicious stuff to him about himself and his father. Some “Where’s Your Daddy” chants as well. You could tell it kinda hurt him. Nothing really to note in this match, I don’t think it went too long either. Rhino won with the Gore. After the match he said that Sydney were some pretty “Hardcore” fans, and also said it was his 30th Birthday and there was no other better way to spend his birthday than yadda yadda yadda.

The National Wrestling Alliance held its annual meeting in Nashville, TN on October 7-8. Members refereed to the meeting as "historic" for the 57 year old organization that sanctions wrestling promotions and brands merchandise and other items. As the late Gordon Solie said, "The NWA is the oldest and largest sanctioning body in professional wrestling."

At the meeting a new operating agreement was voted by the organization. In one key and major change, NWA legal council BOB TROBICH became the organization's EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, reporting to the Membership through a newly elected Board of Directors. Elected to the new Board were Ed Chuman (NWA Midwest), Mike Porter (NWA Main Event), Danny McClain (NWA Battle Zone), David Marquez (NWA New Japan), Alvin Minnick (NWA Mid-South), and Rick O'Brien (NWA Virginia). The titles of President and Vice-President were eliminated. Trobich, who is based in Charlotte, NC, will be the primary contact and decision maker for all NWA business. The organization also retained Kevin Thomas to serve as the organizations accountant.

The organization also decided to eliminate the shows that had been promoted by the hosting Member for the last few years and will instead meet annually for three days in October at location decided by the Members with all arrangements coordinated by the Membership rather than an individual member hosting. Both Las Vegas and Atlantic City have been suggested for the 2006 meetings.

After co-pomoting several shows NWA New Japan Wrestling added Italy to its NWA territory.

NWA Main Event's Mike Porter and NWA Top Rope's Mike Sircy promoted shows throughout the weekend in Lebanon, Springfield, and Nashville. Appearing over the three days were TNA stars Abyss, BG James, NWA World Tag Team Champions, The Naturals, Team Canada's Eric Young, Cassidy Reilly, plus Tracy Smothers, James E Cornette, and wrestlers representing nearly all of the NWA Member and Associate promotions. TNA's Terry Taylor was in attendance at the Saturday show.

Now to the Puro News and Its all about LESNAR! (even WWE couldnt advoid it)

Brock Lesnar became the fifth foreign IWGP Heavyweight Champion in New Japan history, and plans to be second to nobody. The fans and press were so impressed by him, and said New Japan needs to market him as "the strongest pro wrestler alive", because that is the impression he gave off yesterday after beating two top tier natives, Fujita and Chono, quite convincingly. Chono said he has never felt anything like it, and accepted complete defeat, admitting he would have to up his game if he is to have any chance of beating Lesnar. Fujita was more stubborn, hence his challenge, and will be more ready than ever if the proposed singles match with Lesnar takes place on 1/4. The 1/4 show will still have globalization in mind despite the "hometown" theme. Speaking of the hometown theme, there are many, many possibilities on who could return here. Not only trueborns, but possibly wrestlers who started out with New Japan like Naoya Ogawa and Koji Kitao. A mostly full list of New Japan "originals" can be found here.

Choshu swore to rebuild New Japan "his way" after his return match yesterday. Choshu inspected each match after his own, and said he doesn't feel any pressure. Choshu was impressed by Lesnar, and said "I have to master this man.", although pretty much confirmed that Lesnar probably won't be on the next tour, saying what a shame it is he won't be on the tour circuit. Choshu mentioned all his clashes with Inoki before he left New Japan, but said he would do things his way and only his way from now on, how it used to be. Choshu's second reign as the managerial leader of New Japan officially begins on 10/23, but he has already started taking notes and it'll be interesting to see what fundemental shifts occur soon.

Antonio Inoki's promo from last night could be something for the tape (or DVD) collection. The reason why is Inoki said it could be his last "1-2-3-DAA" ever in the ring (although I find that hard to believe). Inoki said that Brock Lesnar has brought new hope to New Japan, but he wants to step back now and leave running the company to his son-in-law Simon Inoki and the returned site foreman, Riki Choshu. Inoki said he would give his full support ro New Japan, but it sounds like the 1990s system is returning, where an Inoki appearance was a novelty. There have been many rumours, most spread by the rabidly anti-New Japan writer, Tarzan Yamamoto, of New Japan exiting the Dome (proven wrong yesterday) and worse, but the company is set to be restructured and continue like ever. Sumo Hall has been tentatively booked for both 2/19/06 and 3/25/06, promising some big shows early next year.

The junior division got pretty good headlines in the morning press too (only the New Japan vs. ZERO1-MAX series got disappointingly few). This is much deserved, after Liger's hard work this year has led to the division making many improvements after some very stagnant times (the Super Jr. tournament was probably the best since 2001, despite a lack of outsiders). Liger's lack of participation yesterday could have actually been a message (he books the junior stuff, so could easily have put himself in a match), that the division doesn't need him to succeed anymore, and he is just part of it. CTU now controls both titles, with Black Tiger the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion and Minoru & Hirooki Goto the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champions approaching their fifth month now. Taguchi's return and the recent growth of Takemura and Anzawa is also important, while Liger's upcoming excursion to the U.S. and Jado & Gedo's to CMLL will leave Black Tiger, Minoru, and Hirooki Goto as a reshaped CTU front line for the time being. Black Tiger may defend both of his titles on the next tour in two different matches.

From Stuart at Strong Style Spirit

Yomiuri Sports' main headline featured "Choshu's hard line is revived." In essence, the return of Choshu to New Japan management. "My will is carried out." Choshu pointed out the current state of a sluggish Japanese wrestling industry. Intriguingly, two names mentioned in the newspaper as being opposed to Choshu coming back are Osamu Nishimura & Hiroyoshi Tenzan. The newspaper also proclaimed the 10/8 Tokyo Dome show (paraphrasing) "a disastrous scene of 38,000 fans that becomes one of the worst four dome performances ever." The 1/4 Tokyo Dome is being marketed as the company's "turning point."

Sankei Sports' main headline on the show was "Power of WWE King! Lesnar controls 3-way match." The story continues to put over Lesnar as a monster, saying that he's too violent and too strong. Antonio Inoki claimed that Lesnar displayed Shinnichi-ism and Inoki-ism. Chono admitted a complete defeat, saying he had never seen such a strong guy before in the ring. Simon Inoki gave the 10/8 Tokyo Dome show a grade of 70%, a grade of "passing." Simon said that the 1/4 Tokyo Dome show would likely feature Lesnar vs. Fujita for the IWGP title and an open invitation to "all former New Japan wrestlers" to work the show.

Sankei Sports reports that Brock Lesnar will make some more appearances for the promotion in 2005. The shows that Lesnar is tentatively scheduled to appear on: 10/30 Kobe World Hall, 12/3 Kyoto City Gym, 12/10 Osaka Prefectural Gym, and 12/11 Nagoya Aichi Prefectural Gym. Simon Inoki was asked by the press to give a statement regarding his comments about restructuring the company (firing wrestlers) and Simon gave a "no comment." Simon however stated that New Japan would (using the term "noruma" which means work-man like) aim for 50,000 fans at the 1/4 Tokyo Dome show. A 4 1/2 hour meeting was held with New Japan management after the 10/8 Tokyo Dome show to try to figure out what changes are needed to be implemented.

All Japan announced that their 2005 Real World Tag League finals will take place in Tokyo at Ota-ku Gym (famous old 5,000-seat building with no air-conditioning or heating). It was the same building that the original Triple Crown match (Hansen vs. Tsuruta) took place at.

Today's story is from Sankei Sports, which reports that major tension is happening between the company and Hiroyoshi Tenzan. Tenzan said that using the wrestlers as the reason for why the company is not doing well is an excuse. Tenzan is less than pleased with the idea of bringing Riki Choshu back as company booker.

Toshiaki Kawada told the Japanese press that he wants to face Kazuyuki Fujita on the 1/4/2006 Tokyo Dome show.

NOAH 10/8 – Korakuen Hall drawing 2,100 fans, which was NOAH’s 123rd consecutive sellout of Korakuen. (G+)

1. Tamon Honda/Masao Inoue/Tsuyoshi Kikuchi beat Daisuke Ikeda/Jun Izumida/Kishin Kawabata in 15:53 when Inoue used a backslide on Kawabata.

2. Yoshinobu Kanemaru & SUWA defeated Michael Modest & Donovan Morgan in 10:01 when SUWA used the FFF on Modest. SUWA said after the match that he wants to have a singles match against Kenta Kobashi soon.

3. Doug Williams beat Kentaro Shiga in 9:15 with a modified schoolboy. Shiga said that he was glad to be wrestling in Korakuen Hall again and that he is hoping to complete the whole tour without getting injured.

4. Shiro Koshinaka/Akitoshi Saito/Takashi Sugiura defeated Mitsuharu Misawa/Yoshinari Ogawa/Ricky Marvin in 16:18 when Sugiura used the Olympic Slam on Marvin.

5. Takeshi Morishima & Mohammad Yone beat Naomichi Marufuji & Kotaro Suzuki in 9:02 when Yone pinned Suzuki after the Rolling Thunder. Morishima & Yone stated after the match that they would win the GHC Tag Titles in Osaka on 10/28 and that KENTA & Katsuyori Shibata should prepare to meet them on 11/5 at Nippon Budokan Hall.

6. Jun Akiyama & Scorpio defeated Kenta Kobashi & Go Shiosaki in 27:56 when Scorpio used the 450 Splash on Shiosaki. Akiyama was wearing a shirt before the match that said “Kobashi vs. Sapp” on it and was passing the shirts around to fans in the crowd along with giving one to Kobashi, who accepted it and shook Akiyama’s hand. Kobashi said after the match that since everyone wants him to face Bob Sapp, he would do it and wants to get the match made very soon and possibly as early as the NOAH Budokan Hall show in January.

7. Genichiro Tenryu beat KENTA in 11:38 with a lariat. Tenryu said that KENTA was a good opponent but was mad at himself for letting him hang around too long before finishing him. KENTA said that he gave all he had against Tenryu and said that he thought he could’ve won the match a couple of times.

8. Naoki Sano & Akira Taue defeated Makoto Hashi & Takeshi Rikio in 19:09 when Sano used the Northern Lights Bomb on Hashi.

The word going around at the meeting was that New Japan has an agreement in place to work in the future with TNA, but will also be backing a national NWA Magazine and announcing a date with In Demand PPV to air a taped version of their Tokyo Dome event this past weekend, which featured Brock Lesnar winning the IWGP championship.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting this afternoon that UFC's Mike Goldberg has decided to turn down the WWE offer and stay with UFC, as of yesterday. Meltzer reported that Goldberg had been "wrestling and fighting with his decision all week".

One thing's for sure, WWE has a PR mess on their hands, as they've left Ross out to hang with all of this speculation. Meltzer speculates that Ross will now continue until WWE "comes up with another bad replacement".
