Comments which don't warrant a thread

WWE (the company) alone (19): Pedro Morales Randy Savage The Ultimate Warrior Bret Hart Shawn Michaels Diesel Hunter Hearst Helmsley/Triple H Rocky Maivia/The Rock Steve Austin Edge Chris Jericho Kurt Angle Chris Benoit Eddie Guerrero Kane Rob Van Dam Booker T Randy Orton Ric Flair Only in other companies (8, for a combined total of 27): Ricky Steamboat (NWA) Rick Rude (WCW International, if you want to count it) Curt Hennig/Mr. Perfect (AWA) Kerry Von Erich/The Texas Tornado (NWA) Jeff Jarrett (WCW, NWA) Shane Douglas/Dean Douglas (NWA, ECW) Ken Shamrock (NWA) Christian (NWA) The sentiment is nice, but that's hardly a "handful" there, JR.
  2. I just got around to watching most of the When Worlds Collide PPV from 24/7 (taped it before it expired), and was wondering a couple of things. First - and I couldn't find the answer to this in the WWE 24/7 thread - why is the 3rd fall essentially edited out of the hair vs mask match? I know piledrivers are involved, but has WWE edited out any other piledrivers? Second, what does the "IWC" (IWC and AAA) in the presentation stand for? I know WCW was involved somehow, but why wasn't WCW just used in the presentation, and what role exactly did WCW play?

    WWE 24/7

I still don't understand why WWE refuses to provide a complete schedule for WWE 24/7. With so many cable companies having trouble providing all of the content, you'd think someone would want to make sure that things are running as smoothly as possible.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

I just watched the 5/3 episode of Impact the other day, and I haven't checked out tonight's ep. But it seems to me that the solution as to who AJ tapped out is simply to review the footage and see who last made the legal tag, Angle or Sting. One of the guys making AJ tap was not the legal man, so he has no claim to the title shot. DUH. I mean c'mon, TNA, at least try to pretend that the rules aren't flexible according to the storyline, or have made it a tornado tag match so that tags weren't necessary.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 5/11

I attended the SD/ECW tapings this evening and the SD portion was nothing short of incredible. Everything from start to finish was so solid. Even the women's match was a really good little match. Eddie Colon looked really good out there. He has a good handle on the basics (although he did a little flip thing for no reason which elicited boo's from the crowd) and was very fluid. And thank goodness Shannon Moore no longer looks like a goof. Matt Hardy got a great reaction, and Finlay actually came out to a face pop, IMO. All of the matches were just plain good TV matches. Nothing dragged or was boring and for once the crowd was really into everything thoughout the (SD part of the) evening (Pitt is notorious for being less than enthusastic for some reason). The show also was paced really well. The spaces for commercials seemed like they weren't actual commercial length; in the past, I seem to remember them lasting as long as they normally would had the show been live. The main event in and of itself was tremendous. I also was at the No Way Out PPV when JBL defended against Big Show in the 'barbed wire steel cage" ('05), but this was punchy-kicky in a good way. Both guys worked their butts off, but one thing I noted was that although it might come across better on TV, the "scriptedness" of the ending was telegraphed as soon as both guys made their way down the cage. One thing I noted that I got a big kick out of was that the refs spent some time after the match at the announce table reviewing the ending via the monitors. It just added a nice little touch to the whole thing. When Mark Henry came out, I feared that we'd see a repeat of Batista last year; i.e., Taker would have to vacate the title b/c of injury. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the arena was abuzz with exactly what might happen with the title/Kennedy/Taker/etc. Although what played out might seem obvious in hindsight, one could easily imagine other scenarios such as Taker retaining the title and then vacating it, or Batista winning it and losing to Edge, or winning it and actually defeating Edge. There was GREAT heat for Henry's return (earlier my group noted that a vignette hadn't aired all night for him), and it went on just long enough that you thought that it was how the show would end (and that Taker would have to vacate). So Mellon Arena went absolutely NUTS when Edge's music hit. People were even chanting for Edge after the cage match ended. The whole scenario played out beautifully. Edge got a GREAT reaction when he won, and then re-asserted his heeldom by bashing Taker with the briefcase after the fact. I seriously have not felt that much energy in such a small amount of time at a live event. And the image of the Druids taking Taker back was just such a cool visual live. (Oh yeah, ECW was kinda boring.)

    WWE 24/7

I don't have the When Worlds Collide ppv. *sigh* So far, this is what I have: The Big Ones: NYR '07 and the LA '88 show TV Classics has the standard: ECW, MNW, NWA, TNT Shorties: Guerreros, Juvi vs. Blitzkrieg from Spring Stampede 99, and Rey vs. Psicosis 2/3 falls from ECW Hardcore TV Legends: 2 Pedro matches, plus what I'm guessing is the roundtable. There's also the Eddie RAW tribute, and Cuz Stone Cold Said So.

    WWE 24/7

OK, Armageddon '06 finally showed up on my schedule, and is set to expire on 5/1 (the same date as listed in the schedule to which I linked above). However, I still don't have this "rivalries" Legeds roundtable, but maybe it will pop up when new content is added this evening. So no one else has had *any* trouble at all?

    WWE 24/7

Can we have a pinned thread for problems with WWE 24/7? I know some posts exist in the general WWE 24/7 thread, but I think it might be good to have something set aside just for issues with the service itself, at least for the time being. I live in Pittsburgh and have Comcast, and I entountered a well-known "missing buckets" problem when the presentation changed from 6 buckets (categories) to 4. I've reprinted part of my e-mail to WWE below (still unanswered almost 2 weeks later; other problem have creeped up since then). Someone local at Comcast is looking into things for me, but we've been playing phone tag for a few days. One possibility he suggested has to do with the vendors of the actual equipment itself, and that for some reason they have some say over what can be added for any On Demand, content-wise. I have a friend who lives in town and who also has Comcast, although it's converted from a former cable provider. He has received all of the content, but his area and mine use different equipment, so maybe there's some truth to what I was told (the few people with whom I talked before I got this guy kept saying it was WWE's problem). I never ever received the '88 Boston Garden show, nor have I received Armageddon '06. According to this website (http://www.sunflowerbroadband.com/cable/ondemand/upcoming/?network=wwe), it should already have been available for a while. The Capt Lou Legends came and went and came again on my system, so something is definitely messed up (the WWE 24/7 wiki even has a section on technical difficulties). It should be noted, though, that this schedule does not list Backlash 03, which is indeed available. Also, my friend has a Legends show on rivalries which I don't have and which is not on that schedule, so that's even more confusion. So I have no idea what's up, and was just wondering what problems other people might be encountering. ------ Apparently, those with "by category" presentation were not receiving all of the 24/7 content, and when I checked on my system (which presents by category), instead of 6 categories, I was in fact showing only 2 cateogories, Big Ones and Shorties. I called Comcast and they noted my problem, and a few days later 2 more categories (TV Classics and Legends) appeared. As I understand it, these 4 categories are the correct categories. However, there still appears to be missing content. I know that a WWE Boston Garden show from 1988 currently is available via 24/7, but in my cable system, this show does not appear anywhere in any of the categories, and has not done so since I first became aware of it last week. The people at Comcast told me that the problem is on WWE's end, and that they simply make available what WWE sends them. Essentially, they told me that if I'm not seeing something, it's because WWE has not sent it to them.
