If I wanted to become an unrelenting spaz via osmosis, I'd listen to Rogan's commentary. -

- So I see PRIDE has gotten already destroyed your minds as well... *puts tinfoil hat back on* - I'd rather have Osbourne's unnaturally deep voice than Rogan screaming every other word. Oh, and... "Miller is light-years ahead of St. Pierre on the ground."- Joe Rogan -

You should feel dirty for even acting like Nakamura will be anything BUT a cakewalk for Silva unless he carries Nak as well. -

With how much HGH Kawajiri has already put into his body, I fear the thought of him trying to bulk up to LHW. Also, Yves better leave the cowboy hat at home, or else he might confuse the poor Japs' preconcieved stereotypes. -

Even with a few stinkers on the card, it's still Bushido's most packed line-up yet. -
The main parts that were edited out were some top control by Gono who couldn't really get any G&P going. I scored the fight for Gono 29-28, but in a fight like that a majority draw is fair. As for the kneebar attempt by Gono, he could've possibly finished it had he figure four'ed his legs, though Murlio is a tough guy to submit anyways. The fight was just before either of them hit their stride, as two months after Gono would make his Pancrase debut, and Murilo would be in PRIDE 4 months after that.

Akihiro Gono vs. Murilo Rua From Shooto's "To The Top 4" show on 1/5/01. Also, besure to re-up for whomever else wants to see it.

Anyone else see Corrales vs. JLC tonight on Showtime? Oh man, what a fight. Complete trench war between the two with an awesome comeback with Diego coming back during a 10-7 10th round to TKO Castillo moments later. The fight should be replaying over the next week or so on the various Showtime networks (as well as Showtime on Demand), so I'd highly recommend any boxing fans out there who missed it to catch a replay.

Well, if this kind of thing isn't frowned on, I could UL SHOOTO, Pancrase, ZST matches, etc. if anyone is interested.

I refuse to respond due to the fact you'd rather enjoy MMA alongside fairweather hip hop fans than moi. -

Zambo is a fuckin' badass. Kid had nothing for him in that fight. As an official Kid nuthugger, I'll say he didn't look too bad the breif moments he was throwing early in the fight, especially for an wrestler turned wannabe-kickboxer. Besides, Kid would take him in a street fight. -

What I'm trying to ask is if MMA can't get your average Joe's attention and kep it most of the time, how would they be able to hook whomever in the hip-hop community enough to get them to bother starting their own team? And assuming they do try and succeed in getting people's interest, you're still going to have mostly the same people who don't have the attention span to stick with MMA long enough to learn a thing or two. I honestly don't think anyone's going to get attached to MMA because some hip hop figure tells them to, and if they do... that's just sad. BTW- You also mentioned that UFC is starting to get away from grapplers in favour of strikers as a way to hook more people, but I personally don't care for those who jeer pretty much any ground fight nowadays, much less influx of those types of "fans" that would be brought in hoping to see brutal KO's all the time. -

"Why are they rolling around the ground?" "Man, why isn't he punching him?" "Fuck his legs, kick his head!" "What the hell was that? Why'd he quit?" "Bruce Lee would fuck these guys up at the time." These are the kinds of things the majority of the population still asks during MMA matches, and that's not including those who refuse to give it a chance in the first place. And even given answers, many will still not find it their cup of tea. I just don't think MMA is at a level in the US that the hip-hop world would bother to pay much attention to it. -

Honestly, I think your average rapper is going to be a bit more into (and thus a better shill for) either the "simpler" premise of boxing or the over-the-top feel of pro wrestling. -

SHOOTO news: Mamoru keeps his bantamweight title via KO (high kick) over Stonnie Dennis, Takashi Nakakura upsets Ray Cooper via cut stoppage, & Gilbert Melendez TKO's Naoya Uematsu. -

If the thread was even the slightest bit funny at a fighter's expense, it was probably deleted. -

I'll just say this: All the steroids in the world won't make Shogun's punches any more accurate nor his takedown defense any less poo/Chute Boxe-esque. -

It can definitely work, but there's a few drawbacks: - The slammer has to be strong enough to lift his opponent and then slam them hard enough to get them to break the hold. - If the move fails, chances are the slammer won't have enough energy to try anything else. - The fighter with the triangle can hook the slammer's leg, thus keeping him from lifting up. Overall, it seems to work about 30% of the time, from what I've seen. -

Genki could easily be a top 10 fighter if he fought better competition, and possibly a top 5 fighter if he were to take his fights more seriously. As it is though, he's more than happy fighting MMA neophytes and fucking around in the ring against competition that he shouldn't (IE- the Duance Ludwig fight). -
Basically, Dana prefers putting the UFC name itself over everything else, which seems to be an excuse for him to fire anyone on a whim and more or less generally act like a jackass 85% of the time. "If the fans want to see all the fights, they should buy tickets to the show."
-
You guys want more fighting? Obviously, you guys need to be brought up to speed on Dana White's way of doing business.
-
He's Couture's buddy so he's got the political in and that's what matters most. No doubt he'll get in, but I honestly wouldn't be suprised by a Tiki-esque situation, with Quarry's connections & impressive wins outside the UFC keeping him in, yet never actually accomplishing at the top level.
-
Blue brought up a good point in the fact that for all the hype on Quarry, he's still raw (not a good thing to be at 34), and hasn't faced the best level of competition as he should with as little time as he likely has.
-
Outside of the winners (though possibly including), Josh will probably have the brightest career out of the TUF competitors.
