Oh, and during the show, one of the fighters commented that "some Brazilian guy" was the one who did the damage. TAKE THAT ROGAN, YOU FUCKING HACK!!!111
-
Well, I certainly won't question Rogan's 'expertise,' mostly because my knowledge of the fight comes from a report I read forever ago. Then again, Rogan has been known to comment on fights he hasn't seen before.
-
I think you may be confusing his match vs. Alex Schoenauer(Argentinian TUF competitor) with his match with Edson Paradeo, who IIRC, broke Forrest's forearm with punches before Forrest KO'ed him in return.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread
Lei Tong replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Couple of suprising MMA results over the past couple of weeks that deserve mention: - Former WW fighter Ray "Brada" Cooper KO's Hermes Franca in his LW debut. - Sam "The Squeeze" Morgan KO's Duane "Bang" Ludwig - Falaniko Vitale KO's longtime SHOOTO LHW champion Masanori Suda All fights were ended in the first round. -
Shamrock/Franklin highlight:
-
Lion's Den guys can't work or pass guard well at all. Another good point from Mr. Blue: Franklin's foot was too low towards Ken hip.
-
Before I go for tonight: Shamrock never had control high enough on Franklin's leg to finish the hee hook. Maybe against a lesser skilled guy. Oh, and "welcome" to any new fans.
-
Ken had nothing on that heel hook. All around, a typically embarasing Shamrock performance. Satisfying end to his legend, if I do say so myself.
-
KO loss to Ryota "LYOTO" Machida.
-
Man, how lucky was it that the fight of night was put on by the two funniest guys in the house as well?
-
"Welcome to party, pal!" I would easily say that is one of the most gratifying moments in MMA history.
-
Obviously Meltzer forgot Forest likes to pour it on late. I have it a draw, MAYBE a slight edge to Forrest in the 3rd.
-
Like Mark Hunt or Tank Abbot body types or the scary roid ragin Bob Sapp? A dash of each. Usually the muscular guys are making up for weak chins, but can usually push the fat guys around until they both gas.
-
They're going with welterweights & heavyweights next (so scratch my plans for Joey). There are plenty of talented welterweights out there, but most successful American heavies not already in the UFC are fat slobs who'll make the division look like a joke.
-
MW is arguably the most stacked division in North America, while LHW is definitely in need of some new blood.
-
No, you got it right, RRR. There are some examples of guys who can't handle cutting weight and are therefore more effective at a higher weight class (Fabiano Iha & Vladimir Matyushenko are two examples), for the most part, cutting down to a lower class will get you better results. There's reasons for that, but fuck it, TUF is on.
-
They should really bring in Joey Villasenor next year. Think of him as Diego's scary older brother who loves brutalizing people even moreso than Sanchez.

Quick finale picks: Griffin over Bonnar via JD Sanchez over Florian via TKO, Rd.2 Leben over Thacker via KO, Rd.1 Swick over Schoenauer via submission, Rd.1 Quarry over Sincaid via JD Koscheck over Sanford via JD Karalexis over Thacker via TKO, Rd.2 Hoger over Southworth via submission, Rd.2 Will go into detail tomorrow.
-
The thing is, I have yet to hear of anyone who knows a damn thing about Thacker MMA-wise. Roughly the only thing I've heard is that he prefers to trade more than grapple, and I don't even know how accurate that is. Sorry.
-
He may not be as mentally weak as he seemed on the show, but unless they overplayed how badly he did during training, I don't really know how he's going to take Leben.
-
What's Strange Brew been saying?
-
That's a good majority of US MMA judges right there. I think TUF did a 1.6-1.7 this week.
-
There's good news and bad news: Good: Baret "The Finisher" Yoshida is in (<66kg), thus garaunteeing at least 2 submissions in his division this year. Bad: Manny Reyes was an April Fool's Joke. I call shenanigans.
-
Dunno how many of the MMA guys here follow Abu Dhabi, but for uninitiated: It's the world's most prestigious no-gi grappling tournament, formerly held annually in the UAE and now held every other year around the world. It's in Long Beach this year, so I'm hoping to get a ticket and catch the event live. Anyways, thus far the competitors this year are: U -66 KG #1 Leo Vieira 2003 World Champion (Brazil) #2 Wagney Fabiano Brazilian Qualifier (Brazil) #3 Javier Vazquez North American Qualifier (USA) #4 Toni Kroger European Qualifier (Finland) #5 Tetsu Suzuki Japanese Qualifier (Japan) #6 Eugene Hynson Australian Qualifier (New Zealand) #7 Eddie Bravo (USA) #8 Joey Gilbert (USA) #9 Manny Reyes Jr. (USA) #10 Marcio Feitosa (Brazil) #11 Marcos 'Parrumpinha' DaMatta (Brazil) #12 Jani Lax (Finland) 66 - 76.99 KG #1 Marcelo Garcia 2003 World Champion (Brazil) #2 Juan 'Jucao' Carneiro Brazilian Qualifier (Brazil) #3 Cameron Earle North American Qualifier (USA) #4 Martin Lindqvist European Qualifier (Sweden) #5 Shinja Aoki Japanese Qualifier (Japan) #6 Gavin Kulper Australian Qualifier (Australia) #7 Chris Brennan (USA) #8 Pablo Popovitch (USA) #9 Marcos Avellan (USA) #10 Jean Jacques Machado (Brazil) #11 Renzo Gracie (Brazil) #12 Jason Brudvig (Sweden) 77 - 87.99 KG #1 Saulo Ribeiro 2003 World Champion (Brazil) #2 Demian Maia Brazilian Qualifier (Brazil) #3 David Avellan North American Qualifier Alternate (USA) #4 Marko Helen European Qualifier (Finland) #5 Hidemi Mihara Japanese Qualifier (Japan) #6 Larry Papadopoulos Australian Qualifier (Australia) #7 Robert Sulski (Poland) #8 Ronaldo 'Jacare' Souza (Brazil) #9 Dennis Hallman (USA) #10 Reese Andy (USA) 88 - 98.99 KG #1 Jon Olav Einmo 2003 World Champion (NORWAY) #2 Roger Gracie Brazilian Qualifier (Brazil) #3 Jamal Patterson North American Qualifier (USA) #4 Alistair Overeem European Qualifier (Holland) #5 Yukiya Naito Japanese Qualifier (Japan) #6 Anthony Perosh Australian Qualifier (Australia) #7 Alexandre 'Cacareco' Ferreira (Brazil) #8 Alexandre Ribeiro (Brazil) #9 Antoine Joaude (Brazil) #10 Haim Golazi (Israel) #11 Travis Wiuff (USA) Over 99 KG #1 Marcio 'Pe De Pano' Cruz 2003 World Champion (Brazil) #2 Gabriel Napao Brazilian Qualifier (Brazil) #3 Karim Byron North American Qualifier (Canada) #4 Mustafa Al-Turk European Qualifier (UK) #5 Jun Ishii Japanese Qualifier (Japan) #6 Dennis Roberts Australian Qualifier (Australia) #7 Rhadi Ferguson (USA) #8 Jeff Monson (USA) #9 Paulo Filho (Brazil) SUPERFIGHT: Ricardo Arona CHAMPION (BRAZIL) v.
