Blake Bowman's supposed "loss" to Keenan is to be treated as suspect until a further investigation into Keenan's alleged roiding/doping/cheating activities come are completed and Keenan is rightfully found guilty. -

Curry, just admit that you're trying to suck up to Mik in the hopes of getting into his pants. -
Funeka/Campbell was competitive because of Nate's KD's, but the spread in points was completely off, IIRC. Angulo is going to legit hurt someone if he doesn't learn to finish properly. It's almost as though his timing is such that he gives his opponents just enough time to regain their balance before hitting them again, which combined with not throwing quite 100% of his power into his shots, ends up with his opponents soaking up needless damage en route to stoppages.

Regardless of how terribly it's worded, it is a legitimate question: I don't buy this, as I've never seen any MMA folder regular but EHME try to pull this tough guy schtick on the board. Can you give me an example of one other person that's done it? I'm not even trying to be snide, I'm curious.

Next time someone gets you in a rear waistlock, go for the kimura.

Brody, ignore these fags. That shit made me laugh even before I started drinking tonight, and it keeps getting funnier the drunker I get.

I'll admit that I did the tough guy thing in the "Who do you want to fight?" thread, but I figured it was okay considering the topic. Aside from that, it seems mostly confined to the MMA forum, where it's mostly BS'ing between guys who train in martial arts anyway. I don't see where that comment is really coming from as it applies to TSM's MMA posters.

I only remember the old avatar with the chick.

What the fucking hell? Martinez loses a stupid point deduction in the 11th round, but otherwise embarrasses Cintron, and should've gotten a JD. Instead, the deduction causes a majority draw. Terrible scoring all around, and shit reffing. I don't fucking believe it.
-
Martinez drops Cintron in round 7, Cintron doesn't appear to beat the count, fight looks over. Instead, the fight's restarted 2 & a half minutes later because although Cintron didn't seem to beat the 10 count, he was saved by the bell. Hopefully Martinez KO's him again, just because.

Anyone else watching the fights? Angulo needs to learn to throw DLH finishing combos before he lobotomizes someone.

I don't think Florian buried Barnett. Most of his observations were true, and were far less brutal than what most viewers were probably saying. -

I'm kind of the opposite. I tend to care less about whatever kind of act a fighter may or may not be putting on inside a cage/ring. I think a truer measure of a fighter's personality and disposition is how they behave away from the cameras. In that sense, Sam Hoger is a nice guy, while Josh Barnett is an asshole. -

Even sans the gimmick, Barnett is a legit troll when it comes to any journalist or anyone involved in the MMA business in general speaking ill of him at all. I mean, some journalists have taken to avoiding any criticism of Josh so as to avoid the headache of dealing with his inevitable bitching. -

There are still a fair number of people out there who feel that Josh is simply a misread victim of MMA elitists who hate his catch-wrestling stylings and love pro-wrestling, and don't give him enough credit for his skills as a fighter. The truth is that most people who've been following MMA for ant decent length of time has seen more than a few examples of Barnett being irritable, whiny asshole who personifies some of the worst stereotypes about MMA fighters while simultaneously pushing the annoyance envelope with his generally retarded statements in comparing pro-wrestling to MMA and his otaku shtick in general. As for his performances in the ring, his resume is pretty top-heavy, with wins over Couture & Minotauro flanked by not much else, including some pretty embarrassing performances against middling competition Kondo, Takahashi, Yvel). -
So the dude was just... laying on his side? Dude deserved to have his guard passed, then. Also, picture perfect how? Tight Gable Grip with a 90 degree rotation away from his body? Or figure-four bicep grip with a flattened and spread base?

Double Bastard is damn good. Also tried their Imperial Russian Stout, which may be my favorite out of any of the Stone beers I've tried.

Seriously, how can anyone still be blind to what a miserable cunt Barnett is? -

I'd support a million "Barnett's a Tubby Bitch" threads. -
Maybe it was someone else. I remember someone else mentioning in an IM that they figured a grappling champion could beat up a bouncer outweighing them by 100lbs, which instantly reminded me of the Grappling Quest champion story I posted back when. As for the argument that the grappler will be used to getting hit... not really. A lot of guys today who wrestled in high school or go to jitz class still haven't been in very many fist fights, and have no more experience taking a bad-intentioned punch to the face than anyone else. Sure, they have a concept of what you're supposed to do in that situation, but that rarely makes up for the other guy being built like a truck. Anyway, don't hate on Brody's leg crank just yet. For all you know, the guy invented the next big guard pass.

I have a higher opinion of guys who can groom talent from the ground up than someone who gets an inordinate amount of credit for refining the games of already well established fighters. -

I singled out Japan mostly for the fact that even as recently as a couple of years ago, it was considered one of the greatest hubs for homegrown MMA talent in the world. Now, in weight classes they used to utterly dominate, they've been shown to be undersized and outmatched physically then their American counterparts. While I do believe that your points about the quality of a camp's trainers and training partners do indeed bring out the best in fighters, I think the sheer physical disparity that Japanese fighters face is the single biggest detriment they face. It's not so rare to see fighters come out of relatively lackluster camps and succeed, to varying degrees. Far more rare is to see fighters who are smaller, weaker and/or less in shape than most others in their weight class succeed.
