  1. Well you just shit-talked your way out of a rundown. TFB.
  2. The breakdown I posted? It's actually pretty well put-together, and though I don't agree with all of it, it's easily one of the best breakdowns I've read on any fight. It's also especially good in the way it breaks down the odds for the fight. The irony is that I actually disagree with the guy's pick for the fight: I'm leaning towards GSP via Unanimous JD. Of course, I'm rooting heavily for BJ and will gloat endlessly should he win. If you simply assumed I posted a fluff piece about BJ, or if that's how the article comes off for you... well, I guess I'd be a bit disappointed that you're letting your GSP love cloud your vision like that.

That really couldn't have gone over well.

    Helio Gracie has passed away

    RIP
  5. Eh, I think size & reach will play a pretty big role.
  6. The way I try to convince myself it's not a big deal is that, IIRC, the last time BJ trained for GSP, he brought in a bunch of top flight talent to help him in camp, but still showed up to the fight looking like a fat asshole. At least this time BJ looks relatively in shape (or as much shape as he can get at welterweight).
  7. He would benefit from moving from the UFC's deepest division to a somewhat anemic (and wrestler-weak) one, but I think for a guy who enjoys so much of a strength advantage normally, having to suddenly go into the cage with guys coming in the same size or even bigger can't help but be a shellshock, regardless of who you train with. Also, I'm yet to be sold on the idea that GSP's BJJ is all that great, at least until he actually has to show it.
  8. Why would he want to give up a huge asset in his size and strength advantage at 170?

Also played a dude named "Juarez." Now that's acting.

    Affliction: Day of Reckoning

I remember a local newspaper article about some Canadian politician with an insanely thick accent. That's about all I can remember from it.

    UFN: Stephens vs. Lauzon

I'll be okay with any replacement that punishes Lauzon for fighting like a spastic retard.

I don't work for Canadian dollars.
  13. Story? Or is this just common knowledge I'm unaware of?

My brother was going to bring me into the fold at one he was working at last year, but things fell through. He mentioned that things are a lot different working at a titty bar than a normal club or pub, but never got too specific. He actually managed a Hustler club out in Redlands for a few years, and was pretty successful at it, and often shared general tips about his management style, though much of it was pretty strip club specific (like how to emotionally destroy a dancer before coming back to keep the blame on her, but giving her a chance to make it up to you).

Hahaha. It's cool. That's actually one we like to joke around with pretty often, especially as a humorous way to calm down a friend who's getting too heated. However, the last line HAS to be "They just don't know!"

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Nowadays when I got out I try to avoid going to clubs that have reputations for being rowdy. While most bouncers start off at least somewhat excited at the proposition of nightly fights, within about 6 months it just gets old, and the idea of a calm night of work is much more appealing. Of course, there are some exceptions to this rule (IE- crazy Lebs, Iranians, former USMC types, and general pitbull types like Stoney), and it doesn't make the stories when fights do occur any less entertaining to relate later on. "Why y'all trying to act like it's illegal for me to kill a motherfucker?!"- My manager, while being restrained, after a patron pepper sprayed him in the face. To answer the above question, I've always had a very loose commitment to the idea of being a fighter some day, but my lack of motivation and drive has really held me back from progressing as I'd like. One of the biggest hurdles I still need to overcome is getting into a true weight training routine, which is an absolute necessity nowadays.

    UFC 97: Redemption

MacDonald isn't inconsistent. He just can't strike for shit, hates getting hit and doesn't have the uber wrestling to avoid either one as much as he'd like. All of this was known by the time Shonie Carter beat him.

    WEC 38: Varner vs. Cerrone

I have no idea how a fighter as likeable as Cerrone can have such unbearable fans. I'm starting to see why Breen & Rios hardly post anymore. my thoughts from BK, here: I think Cerrone fans are missing the silver lining in all of this: without the knee, Cerrone likely gets laid on for another few minutes, and still loses a split JD. As is, the loss is going to be viewed as largely tainted, and an immediate rematch is that much more likely because of it. Of course, I would have liked Varner to continue, but fucked if I know how bad he was or wasn't hurt by that knee. If that kind of thing could be judged based on looks, I'd say Eastman took a dive against Lutter.

    WEC 38: Varner vs. Cerrone

Cerrone's composure and chin is really fucking with Varner's head.

Faber probably watched the Garcia fight and thought to himself "Oh... okay."

    WEC 38: Varner vs. Cerrone

Jorgensen is fucking freaky to look at, but he managed to hit one of my favorite submissions of all (grovit/Cromado guillotine), so it evens out.

    Affliction: Day of Reckoning

Ortiz ain't cutting to 185 short of cutting off a leg (though, considering one of his is almost useless at this point, maybe that's not too far-fetched...). Also, I don't actually think people really care much about a rematch between the two; plus, Tito is closing in on the end of his career, and with Vitor trying to find some relevance, I don't think a one-off fight would really benefit Affliction anymore than Tito versus any number of other guys.
