From Gutsy at BK. I'm pretty sure Overeem is like 19-20 in the picture on the left. When Arlovski was the same age, he was approximately 235lbs. Against Nelson, he was 240lbs..

I fail to see how Sakuraba would have "obviously" beat Tamura in their primes. Tamura has always been the better striker, and while Sakuraba is a better wrestler and submission artist, his style often relied on his opponents aggressively grappling; Tamura is an anti-grappler, more than content to simply survive on the mat. Minotauro threw everything he had at Tamura in their first bout, and still took the much larger grappler a round and a half to catch him. Oh, and seriously: RodFav. Manhoef needs to rematch him at this point. It's the only "neither guy will go for a takedown" fight out there that needs to happen.

I'd still give it to Hazelett. Whizzer-anklepick-armbar is fucking ridiculous, made-up shit that Dustin is making seem commonplace.

Eddie never actually got mount, as he essentially gave Aoki a butterfly hook.

The stream's chat room was funny, at least to my sleep-deprived eyes: "I can't imagine sitting down and waiting 8 hours for Bob Sapp to fight a cartoon character" "Which one of these japs is crocop?" "WHEN THE FUCK IS HANSEN/JZ!!!"

- "K-1 level striking" is slowly losing any meaning. - Overeem should really look at LeBanner for an idea of what years of unchecked steroid abuse will do to your bones. - With Hunt KO'ed via headshots, this year has been definitive proof that even the greatest of chins (Hunt, Nog, Fujita) wear out over time. That being said, Manhoef is probably the most fearsome striker at LHW... after Rodney Faverus. - Tamura would've always beaten Sakuraba. - Despite all the hate, I at least feel vindicated for pimping Aoki back in the day, especially as one of the premier BJJ practitioners in the sport. - Sapp still blows. - Tokoro will never beat anyone who's had success above featherweight. - Leidicker picking Zimmerman to beat Minowa is hilarious. - Schilt's triangle choke > Barreto's - How the fuck does Shibata still get fights?

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Barnett gets extra credit for winning despite having to balance training with a full-time puroresu habit. -
Of course he will, because Sonnen is utterly worthless when it matters.

I'd like to see Hardonk get back on the main cards, dude can KO Hardonk was getting beat up by a short-notice-Sanchez and lost to Justin McCully. Dude is waiting to get embarrassed again.

Santos, Gonzaga, Velasquez & even Herring have more claim to title shots than Kongo at the moment.
-
He's easily Comeback Fighter of the Year, though FOTY isn't so cut and dry. It depends on how much his wins mean given Lesnar & Nog's inexperience and wear & tear, respectively.

Well, Nog is done, but Mir just set himself up for about 3 year end awards.

No way Lister grinds out Okami. Dean's never been known as having the strongest cardio nor being someone who handles adversity well. Okami, on the other hand, is a guy who manages to absolutely mind-rape opponents with his physicality and is arguably at his best late in a fight. Lister's best bet is to take advantage of Yushin's early passivity and catch him in a submission.

Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz on 2/28/09 That's the some hot sex matchmaking right there.

Griffin def. Evans via submission, Rd.3 (I hope Forrest gets obliterated, but I think he avoids walking into a massive shot from Rashad en route to grinding him down on the feet and avoiding damage from his back. Rashad's submission defense still relies more on surviving attempts, which I think will backfire as he finds himself unable to work through Forrest's guard) Noguiera def. Frank Mir via submission, Rd. 2 (I think Mir will actually be able to hang with Minotauro for a while as Nog tries to prove a point via straight grappling. However, due to Mir's cardio and/or Nog opening up with some strikes, Frank quickly wears down in the second and leaves himself open for a takedown, pass, and arm triangle) Dollaway def. Massenzio via Unanimous JD (While I appreciate Dollaway's instinctive desire to end fights, it has proven to leave him with a gas-tank bordering on empty in the latter stages of a fight when he can't end it early. I think Massenzio is tough and conservative enough to survive early enough to avoid the danger of getting put away, but Dollaway's wrestling will allow him to control the late fight game enough to protect his lead) Silva def. Jackson via KO, Rd. 2 (Really, why buck the trend? Regardless of what improvements either guy has made since the last time they met, I just can't imagine Quinton being a good place mentally going into this fight, especially against a guy who has twice smoked him in epic fashion. Besides all of that, it's still simply a bad style match-up in my mind) Kongo def. al-Turk via TKO, Rd.1 (Despite being a relative good grapplers, like every other Hw who's made their bones on the British scene,al-Turk fancies himself a brawler, which plays right into Kongo's one and only strength) Okami def. Lister via TKO, Rd.2 (While there's no way Okami loses this fight IMO, the surprise to everyone will be how decisively he ends it. Okami can actually strike with power when he so chooses, and I think that there's no way he missed Marquardt and Sasaki putting it on Lister standing. I think he busts Dean up on the feet, before using his ever present "TOO STRONG!"-strength to power into a mounted G&P barrage) Hardonk def. Burch via TKO, Rd.1 (The main question to me was how long it takes for Hardonk to take Bunch apart; in the end, I don't give him the same credit as Magomedov or an out of shape Sanchez. DISS!) Hamill def. Reese Andy via TKO, Rd.1 (I see this going to similar to Hamill's previous outings with other strong wrestlers: unable to take him down, Andy quickly finds himself demoralized and unable to deal with Hamill's awkwardly effective punching) Blackburn def. Chonan via Maj. Dec. (While Blackburn has the power to turn Chonan's lights out, I think he's too wild and awkward to effectively clock the more disciplined striker, who will counter-attack at range, keeping the fight competitive until the final bell) Barry def. Evensen via KO, Rd.1 (When in doubt, bet against the guy known to suck)

Skinny Ricco beat Couture. Monson beat Fat Ricco. Skinny Ricco c-walked all over Monson and his communist ideals. DEBUNKED.

Word is from everyone who's met Wanderlei is that he's fairly down-to-earth and funny guy, despite language barriers. Oh, and that his skull is fucking ridiculous. HGH is a motherfucker.

Comeback of the Year (single fight) Jesse Forbes def. Chris Camozzi via submission (armbar), Rd. 3 Runner-up: Shinichi "BJ" Kojima def. Mamoru Yamaguchi via submission (guillotine choke), Rd.3

Akihito Tanaka, freestyle national champion. He didn't do much on the world scene, but then again, neither did Fujita.
-
Hey, maybe they thought he was gonna' try and get up before he almost lurched out of the ring.
-
Well, the guy doesn't look as small as Kiyoshi Tamura, at least... And with a quick search, the guy won wrestling titles in the 96-120kg division, so he could conceivably stand a decent chance in this fight... well, if he wasn't going to be half blind.

I still have no idea how the most ardent kakutougi nuthuggers manage to desensitize themselves to this shit.
