I think Alexander Shlemenko's flying knee to the body of "Bubba" McDaniel on ShoXC is worthy of a nomination, especially considering it left an otherwise tough guy moaning on the mat like he'd just been shot (a more auditory version of Gono/Salaverry, if you will).

Justin Levens and his wife found dead at home

Not as fucked up as the Rafiel Torre situation, but still pretty bad. -
Also, I love Tito, but his voice gets even more high-pitched & hard to listen to when he's having to talk rapidly, and he can stutter a fair bit. That being said, his technical knowledge is good enough that he shouldn't embarrass himself.

People are still acting like Nelson was going to do shit against Arlovski on the mat? Yeah, Arlovski sucks off his back, but he survived against a much better grappler/fighter in Ricco mauling him for a good while until he finally succumbed. Nelson's bitch tits and fuckin' KEYLOCK attempts were going to end him? Pfffst. In the end, it was a shitty stand-up that simply hastened the inevitable end of the fight.

"Don't play the blame game?" From the guy who thinks Taylor was robbed against Chavez? Come on, man. I ain't too drunk to smell the hypocrisy there.

If I have to accept Melendez over Kawajiri, the world has to accept Mo over Remy. Besides, it's Bonjasky's own fault for dancing around like an effeminate savateur for much of the first two rounds.
-
I'm not saying that Remy is a bitch in general, or that he isn't a nice or even a great guy. I've just never been a fan since his earliest days. Mo beating him at the previous zenith of his career made my month.
-
I'm not arguing that Hari shouldn't have been DQ'ed or what have you. I'm simply stating, independent of that and everything else: Remy acted a bitch. Just yet another reason for me not to like the guy.
-
Yeah, but Remy acted a bitch.

So which poster would you most like to fight?

Anyone. -
Which poster would you most like to hang out with?
Lei Tong replied to Cheech Tremendous's topic in No Holds Barred
Pretty much most of the MMA folder posters by default, as they're the only guys I'm really familiar with. Any of them would probably be fun to get drunk and watch some fights with, or even to roll with at a local gym. -
Stupid, embarrassing shit you did as a kid

I cried when Frankie Randall beat Chavez. -
Well there you go. Just get some flank steak, put together a marinade that you think she can handle, and do it big, son.
-
Sounds like you have enough time to marinate some carne asada, which you can serve with some Spanish rice and whatever type of beans she prefers. Desert would largely depend on what she does/doesn't like. Oh, and throw in a salad with the starter.

Breen pointed out that I may have been too hard on Junie, as his ability to throw strikes in combination already puts him ahead of the curve to 99% of MMA fighters. That said, he'll still have to prove he can do so against opponents who aren't punching bags with legs, that he's capable of fighting of his back, that he can handle adversity, etc. So yeah, improved, but not necessarily good yet.

Bobby Lashley makes MMA debut on December 13th...
Lei Tong replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Going in, everyone already new that Lashley was big, strong, and could wrestle. The fight offered absolutely no new insight into his skillset, as he wasn't forced to strike, take any punches, attempt submissions, or improve ground positioning. It's hard to ascertain how hard he even hits, as a cut stoppage is hardly indicitive of someone's punching power, and even glancing blows can cut. Lashley is still as much of an unknown as he was before the fight. EDIT: Actually, he was forced to stand at one point, as his opponen to managed to get back to his feet, and they traded some spastic flailing, with Lashley landing a decent shot. The ending was definitely dissapointing, as the fight was stopped as both guys stood around, before either one had a chance to do much. -
The Brock fight was good, but the Thompson fight was pretty mind-numbing, if not comparatively to the rest of Wlad's bouts. And regardless of how much blame you think his opponents have to share in his uneventful fights of late, they all have a common component: Wlad 1-1-1-1-2-1-1-2'ing all night long. Put pretty well by elsewhere: For all of his technical inferiority and awkwardness, Vitali does at least show alot of aggression and even more punch variety in his fight, and is intent on clubbing an opponent to death. The most entertaining part of last night's title defense was Lewis making like a British Raul Marquez, and basically taking Wlad to task for so methodically toying with Lennox's leftovers.

From Smoots: "Went to the MFA event last night, saw Bobby Lashley debut in as unsatisfying a manner as possible. Dude shot immediately, launched some early Lesnar-esque spastic GnP, cut stoppage 30 seconds in. He looked competent enough I supppose, and did get the W." -
Partly, but Wladimir hasn't been the most entertaining guy to watch for a while now. His safety-first style has made him that much harder to beat, but I doubt you're going to find many people who'll argue it makes him much fun to watch, especially compared to the more offensively varied if also defensively flawed fighter he was a couple of years ago. Besides, Rahman is as shopwarn as a fighter can get, and was wasn't even in great shape coming in, so a plodding, seven round jab fest was hardly what most people would expect against such competition.

Between Klitschko, Foreman, Oquendo and Hopkins/Holt, today is not a very viewer friendly day of boxing.
-
I didn't even realize it until now, but both of this season's winners have their roots with Arizona Combat Sports, with Bader training with the team, while Escudero trains under former team member Drew Fickett. Not bad for a gym (and regional MMA scene) I once stupidly wrote off.
-
I disagree. Efrain's hands were much improved, he finally managed to utilize his wrestling experience, and was overall much more aggressive than he was during his stay in the house. I actually have a feeling that people will find a way to discredit him for his win, despite the fact that he beat a tough preliminary opponent and then the best other LW's of the season.
-
He shyed away from his hands after Efrain rocked him standing in the first round.
