Who in MMA do you hate, and why?

There's few I think I haven't mentioned at some point, but Frye & Toida. -

"The ______ Assassin" should forever be banned as a nickname. -
I'll admit that he didn't endear himself to me by beating Karo, but I don't think I actively disliked him just then. Anyway, "worse" is subjective. Yamamoto has never tried to present himself as anything other than a cocky piece-of-shit who loves to put off a thug persona, While I won't argue that Georges is probably a decent guy, his whole "Nice Guy" persona seems meticulously pushed to 11 at almost all times, which is annoying in itself, and simply makes the few times he lets his guise slip a bit all the more obvious.

UFC 88: Breakthrough - Liddell vs. Evans
Lei Tong replied to jackmcmanus21's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
He's explosively athletic. -
I find him to be a highly-talented, well-accomplished, but ultimately annoying, disingenuous, nipple-pinching frog with an equally exasperating fanbase.

I don't need a sig pic for anyone to know that I hate GSP almost as much as I love Penn.
-
BJ's a good wrestler himself, but he's nowhere near the caliber of wrestler that Josh Koscheck is, and even he managed to finish just one of two takedown attempts on GSP. What BJ does that previous wrestlers who've fought GSP don't is mix his striking and takedown attempts very well. Whether that would pay off against GSP (or if BJ would even attempt it) remains to be seen.

I'd actually prefer BJ stay and dominate 155 as well, but I fail to see what GSP has added to his arsenal to think that he has any easier time with Penn this time around. He still doesn't fight well off of the back foot and hasn't developed enough ground skills to do much but lay on BJ. -
Herring's OK (relative to his shitty division), but he's still not a good fighter and certainly not any sort of litmus test of a fighter's potential. JOB taking a single round from a shit-scared Arlovski spoke more highly of his skill than grapple-fucking Herring for 15 minutes, IMO. As is, being unable to put away Herring doesn't tell us anything because being tough is about Herring's only strength; dropping Herring doesn't tell us anything because Enson Inoue did the same; and outwrestling Herring didn't mean anything because Herring has long been a laughable wrestler. Beating a HW with more viable offensive threats would've impressed me more.

Brock would do well to have Vladdy teach him how to properly fuck someone up on the ground with little concept of BJJ positioning. That being said, I'm reserving all of the "Lesnar is a future champion" hype until he beats a HW who doesn't blow.
-
Most would beat him convincingly. He'd trouble guys like Evans, Jardine, and those of their ilk, but most top level LHW's have the striking the hurt him standing, and either the takedown D or ground skills to stall his grinding top game.
-
I love Kenny, but he's actually looked worse in his last two fights, IMO (ironically against two of his best opponents). He's looked too passive, and I think that had he fought more aggressively either time, the wins could've been more decisive.

You wouldn't rather see him in WEC taking Cantwell's title away on his 1st defence? People actually care about Minotoro, or at least have some sort of respect for the guy. The only way Vladimir winning the WEC LHW title has any meaning is if it involves beating Cantwell, Stann and Anthony Macias (3-0, baby!) in a one-night gauntlet.

Dude, don't be a fag.

Wouldn't that go against what you were saying? Anyway, the point wasn't about Guillard himself, I figured you'd know what I was getting at, and why people would pick Hicks in a standup war. I just meant to say that a guy with Hick's boxing style wasn't likely to KO Varner, not that he would necessarily be KO'ed himself. Oh, and I feel 'ya. *Secret Swarthy Handshake*
-
The best part of the event will be Vladdy beating Minotoro again.
-
What are you talking about? Most people picked Varner to win, but thought Hicks was going to give him a tough fight. From what I saw on the boards, most people (and even Blue) picked Hicks to overwhelm Varner standing, drop him, and finish with a guillotine. YPOV: Guillard rarely throws straight punches, and I don't recall him ever being KO'ed before.
-
BJ Penn is the best of all time simply by virtue of his imitation of Andy Wang's post fight breakdown.
-
Hopefully this'll put to rest the idea that Condit is going to run roughshod over the UFC WW division. Also, how did I manage to miss everyone and their mother picking Hicks over Varner? Straight-punching, versatile striker get KO'ed by a shorter hook thrower? Not likely.
-
Trigg & Sherk weren't top 5 welters at the time, though that doesn't really detract much from the run.
-
She could, though it's likely Carano won't even bother trying to make weight this time and will simply let her size and strength advantage show through the striking exchanges, where her power will carry her through Cyborg's volume.

I've often brought this up as a reason for my distaste for size mismatches at smaller weights, but I think Rudo was talking more of the extreme differences at HW. -

Because of the division's general lack of talent, even with such a wide buffer. Dividing up MMA's weakest mainstream weight class would only exacerbate this siutation, and besides that, even in the much older and talent-filled sport of boxing, there's still yet to be a period in time where there's been a large number of fighters near the upper limits of the class dominating the division. Not necessarily fair, but it's simply a matter of practicality at this point. -
Didn't really need it, though Tibau/Stevenson was yet another instance of me being so right and so wrong at the same time.
