A guy who's trained with Barrera says that he was still a pretty clueless spaz on the mat as of 6 months ago.

Am I the only person here who thinks Anderson would simply jab Dan's face off in between slight intervals on the mat?

*530 pounds, five or take

Unfortunately, Vera shit the bed as I feared he would.

Seriously? I've yet to see even Duddy's most ardent supporters suggest that he has any way to avoid Kelly battering him around. Duddy's decent, but he hasn't shown anything that makes me believe he has much chance against most top tier MW's, much the less the division's best.

That should be a hell of a fight. Entertaining while it lasts, but very unlikely to be competitive in the least.

I would argue that Vera has still yet to show himself comfortable with fists flying in his face.

I'm unsure how his size and mobility would translate on the ground, and most big guys (even pretty in shape ones) tend to move like slugs there. Against guys in his weight class (265lbs. & above), he (in this case, a prime Shaq trained for MMA) could have probably dominated based on sheer athleticism alone, though pretty much every SHW has gone down at some poiunt from another massive guy landing an equally massive punch. -
Mac comes across as a bit narcissistic & blunt, but from his blog he comes across as relatively well thought and honest. I think it's just more a way he comes across on TV. That being said, him tripping on Blake is unforgivable and I hope George breaks his arm off.

Any desire to continue watching this season just dropped severely.

Matt Hughes likes helping people. That's just the kind of guy he is.

I think the biggest factor in this match will be how Vera handles punches flying at him. He admitted to being afraid of Eilers' power, and visibly froze when Silva started throwing at him. It's been the one worry in my mind since back when discussing the possiblity of this match for the HW title.

That REALLY didn't work out the last time they tried it. -
Armenians rule.

Eh, it was a bit early to say either guy was winning the fight considering no one had done much meaningful.

Blake Bowman is the man that rules the world.

Florian via Nate Diaz style luck. Regardless, Kenny rocks.

Somehow, Leben & Martin managed to put on an even slower, sloppier version of the opener.

I don't see how that would be unfortunate Genki fagging it up mid-fight and letting Duane Ludwig into the bout was pretty frustrating to watch, and no amount of cosplay will make up for that (and to an extent, it exacerbates it). -

Rewatching the Spratt/McCrory fight, I have a few thoughts to add: - Tamden didn't do quite as bad as I remember, as he managed to take Spratt down and get his back pretty quickly. He also scored a takedown later in the round, and landed a few hards jabs in the fight. -On the other hand, his ground game was quite amateurish in a lot of ways, as he was throwing his legs up for subs that weren't really set-up, getting his guard passed repeatedly, and attempting to roll out as a defense constantly. As for his wrestling, he managed to pretty comically toss himself to the mat as many times as he took Pete down (it was like watching a young, Twigyy-looking Dan Severn on those attempts). -

Just curious, whats your basis on this? I'm not disputing you or anything, it's just I've talked to people who've trained with Tamden, and they tell me the kid has extremely strong wrestling at 170lbs with decent submission skills, and has damn good boxing. I haven't seen anything on the kid, but still would be interested to hear your point of view of him. He was getting pretty much embarassed by Spratt in most facets of the game before Pete...well, pulled a Pete Spratt. I don't remember seeing anything special from him aside from being ridiculously tall for welterweight. Also, Gono's dropping down and actually fighting guys closer to his size (weight-wise) then he has been for most of his career, which should work in his favor. Though, in addition to the new rules and cage to deal with, American scoring is not going to look kindly on a guy who's known to steal fights in the last 5 minutes of a match. -

"Gina Carano contemplates whether her earlier weigh-in debacle would be further highlighted should she consume every available drink on the table at once." OR "Fuckin' swarthy Brazilians. Ew."
