I don't remember ever caring about a Tim Sylvia fight. For UFN 3, I watched all the matches up to his match with Assuerio Silva. But do remember that winners get their base x 2, so Sylvia earned $60,000 + $60,000 for the win. Hughes would've earned $150,000 had he won. GSP must've gotten another bonus somewhere. Getting $29,000 to fight seems like a strange number to me. Word is Dana gave GSP a half-million bonus plus a hummer, or so I read at BK.

Though his punching looked improved against Mir, Vera's boxing has always been his weakpoint standing, leaving him with legkicks likely to be countered with a straight right, and a Thai clinch that's almost completely usesless against a guy as tall as Tim. Of course, Brandon is an extremely intelligent fighter, and has discussed in length what he would have to do to beat Tim, including lots of lateral movement and body work. That said, I'm unsure how well he would be able to pull it off.

Actually, PRIDE/DSE has had relatively strong ties to pro wrestling throughout its history. Of course, I'd like them to have nothing to do with each other, as pro-wrestling and WWE specifically is the antithesis of what I feel MMA should be.

I say "putting faith" because if McFedries has even a moderate amount of wrestling ability, he could very easily ruin any shred of credibility Sakara may have left (ironically, from a win over Elvis freakin' Sinosic). Therefore, with the fight arguably in his hands moreso than Sakara's, the UFC must be putting faith in McFedries being a dumbass and exchanging with Sakara.

The problem is that by most accounts of people that have met Josh (myself inlcuded), he's a giant goober with who happens to be a good fighter. The less he has to expose himself to the American public, the better.
