    Make an outlandish statement

Make no mistake about it, slide or not Diaz is a the best fighter on either guy's resume. Rivera, Swick, Radach & Cote are all solid fighters, but not on Diaz's level. Also, Leben has also shown a bit more vulnerablity than Diego, as he's shown a good amount of trouble with guys who refuse to actively trade with him, while thus far Diego has masked his complete lack of stand-up pretty well.

    Make an outlandish statement

Diaz' stock has dropped a good deal due to his complete lack of gameplans, so while he's still a better opponent than anyone Leben's faced, I don't think Diego's resume matches up to Chris' as far as overall quality.

    Klitschko crushes Byrd

Vitali was able to stake claim as heir-apparent based almost solely on a loss to Lewis.

    UFC signs Anderson Silva

That's because Silva got gifted a stand-up mid-tooling against Newton.

    Oh, and Takase. HA!

    UFC signs Anderson Silva

Silva has a decent sprawl, but it's helped that he's faced almost nothing but strikers at MW, outside of Okami & Horn, who both got him down.

    Not outlandish in the least.

    UFC 60: Hughes vs Gracie

Using my unmatched skills of deduction, I'm going to say that Matt Hughes is tougher to submit than Hideo Tokoro.

Everyone looks good against Nog. It's why people overrated Yokoi. Also, a majority of Dan Henderson matches are vastly overrated.

Sapp could train for 5 years and still get his head punted off by a strong wrestler like Fujita.

Dude, Vitor had an emotional breakdown when he beat Eastman. If he takes out Randleman, he's going to drown in his own tears.

I thought you sounded the way you normally do here. No big deal as far as I'm concerned. I guess I was hoping to sound a bit less asshole-ish if there was a chance a number (more than on a forum, for example) might be reading the e-mail. You know, tact and all that. Yes, but will readers hit on her (virtually speaking) with the regularity that TSM posters seem to hit on Leena? I'm not too keen on who Leena is, though I doubt your average person reading a TUF recap on a random website will be able to tell the difference between her writing and... stuff that gets posted at mma-snark.

Oh, man. I didn't think anyone else knew about that except for YPOV. I think he may have missed the point of many things I mentioned (okay, you've watched UFC from the beginning, but only a fraction of information about most fighters can be obtained from strictly from that), so I'll be leaving the poor guy alone. Two things worth noting on that subject: - Even as I tried to sound cordial in my response I came off like a prick. Correct, but a prick. - The TUF recapper chick at IP actually seems to have a decent head for MMA on her shoulders.

You, a Kang fan? Really, shouldn't you know better? EDIT: Oh, nevermind. Kang really isn't someone to get all jealous over. It'd be like me trying to claim Ruben Villareal.

Funny story of the day, brought to you via AIM: my sex is artsy: Also, how awesome is it that Kang pulled out against Leite in South Korea? my sex is artsy: Nothing says you're ready to conquer in PRIDE like being afraid to fight a prospect in your own country.

Is Andrei Arlovski simply not a very good fighter?

It'd be conjecture at best considering: - Outside of a few Kosen Judo clubs, there's VERY little emphasis on newaza, which is usually considered a waste of time compared to standing grappling. -Yoshida's only submitted one person with good submission defense, and that was with a basic forearm choke on a person you've referred to as a can. That's because Bobish sucks at grappling & gassed, and Wanderlei was massively outweighed & has one of the weakest submission games you're likely to see out of a BJJ black belt in MMA.

You must join me in loving Omigawa, then.

    Floyd Mayweather - Free Agent

I can't see Margarito outlanding Floyd. So be it. I'm obviously not going to be able to convince you otherwise. Castill is big, but he's not nearly as big as Margarito. I've yet to meet many Floyd haters that stupid. Gatti isn't a bum, but he's not every good either. And him beating a tough, proven welterweight like Baldomir when Judah couldn't is hardly a given. None of those guys would fight him. - Judah still has too much crediblity as the former undisputed WW champ to risk doing the baby giraffe dance against a guy most people don't know or care about. - Baldomir has let it be known he wants to make some cash and then retire. Gatti offers that opprotunity. Tony doesn't. - Gatti knows he can fight weak opposition and still be loved and paid until he decides to hang them up. The only reason he's bothering with Baldomir is because he thinks he sees a weak fighter who can help make him a multi-divisional champion before he retires. Of course, if Tony were smart he'd have dropped the meaningless WBO title long ago and sought ranking and mandatory status in another org.

Is Andrei Arlovski simply not a very good fighter?

Yes, because there's a lot of emphasis on submissions in sport Judo... you know, as opposed to scoring an ippon or pinning the other guy. Or in submission grappling terms: Judoka via points (2-0)

Is Andrei Arlovski simply not a very good fighter?

Any MMA neophyte outside of an accomplished submission stylist is going to be considered to have a weak ground game at first, especially one who doesn't seem to have taken ground training seriously. Oh, and Yoshida isn't a really good submission guy.

    Floyd Mayweather - Free Agent

Both JLC & Diego are better fighters than Margarito, but neither is as large nor have his workrate. As I already mentioned, Floyd could slip, avoid and coutner all night and not slow Margarito's work rate and end up being outlanded because of it. Tony isn't a great fighter, but it's a style and size matchup in my mind.
