Kayfabe Era- What be your thoughts on it?

Jim Cornette had a good analogy about the matter (He used it on Jim Herd to try and justify why some of Herd's decisions were dumb as dirt): -Do you like going to a Chicago Bulls game (He thought it was Herd's favorite sports team) where you are genuinely invested in the outcome, and you don't really know what's going to happen... thus increasing your interest and wanting to see it again and again OR -Do you like going to the circus, where you know it's a show, and after you see the elephants, clowns, etc. - there's nothing left because it tends to be the same every time you go, even when it comes back to town ever so often.

    WWE Raw - February 9, 2009

That's what it SHOULD mean... What should happen is Orton completely destroying him for the entire match with Shane's "offense" consisting solely of flailing hope spots and the mere fact that he can take a severe beating from Orton and still just barely kick out of some pin attempts before he's finished off. His lone high spot should be getting Orton down and off of the offensive once late in the match. Other than that it should be total domination and destruction from Orton. Do that for 15 minutes or so and it results in a dramatic exciting match that puts Orton over like he should be, lets Shane get over as a tough guy without it being at Orton's expense, and firmly erases that ridiculous debacle of a couple weeks ago from the collective memory. My fear is that they do a somewhat even brawl and let Shane get in all his signature spots (boxing punches, flying elbow, kendo stick, garbage can hijinx, etc.). That would be terribly pointless. Shane should be in there to sell and get Orton over, nothing more. Yeah... I agree exactly with that set-up. Shane shouldn't look like a threat at all in this match.

I like Sid a lot more than the average person, but I still can't believe he was in a WM Main Event. He's got two main events under his belt, although the first one made a lot more sense than the second one.

One of the most important matches of all-time on an otherwise sub-standard Wrestlemania...

Blasted PG rating... JBL could have closed with such a better put-down of Michael's wife than that.

Jericho mobbed by fans, hits woman

Yeah... the standing rule back in the day was that if you got in a fight with a fan/mark... you better win, otherwise you'd be fired.

Sounds like the federal prosecutor would also be one to believe everything a heel says to the crowd at a show.

    Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling

Yeah... them keeping the local promos as is was what made this show stand-out for me. I believe Superbowl I was also the victim of networks trying to save money/space as both networks that broadcast it lost their copies... luckily, NFL Films was there to document it as well.

Don't know how true this is, but it would make sense in regards to the Jerico situation: http://www.prowrestling.net/artman/publish...le1004522.shtml

Best Live Show that you've attended

Hey, I was there, too. I marked out when the ladder match popped up on The Rock DVD on 24/7 this week. Did you go to Armageddon 2000, or were you no longer in Bham? Yup... went to Armageddon as well. A friend, who was a big Kurt Angle fan, had a sign for Angle as we waited outside. The Dudleys came up to sign autographs before the show, saw the sign, and playfully acted like they were going to tear it up (The crowd definitely encouraging them).

Best Live Show that you've attended

My favorite live show (And I'd say the best) was the first ECW house show in Birmingham, Alabama in October of 1998. The crowd was great, Tommy Rich about started a small riot for making a Bear Bryant joke, and Bam Bam Bigelow told me personally, "I DON'T NEED YOU!" (I was about the only one cheering for him at a dead point in his match, and as I was standing up, he looked right at me and said that... freaking awesome, I must say.) A close second would be the Raw after St. Valentine's Day Massacre in 1999 where The Rock beat Mankind in a ladder match for the World Title or the Smackdown taped the day after ECW joined the Invasion.

    Most Unique Wrestling Entrances

I liked the marching band set-up (Was it Bethune-Cookman or FAMU that he used?), but it took me a while to realize they were actually playing his theme music.

    TSM Profile: Bam Bam Bigelow

    1. Do you think success came too soon in Bigelow's career? Or was he not pushed enough? -I think his success came at the wrong time, especially during his first WWE stretch. He was crazy over, but outside the possibility of being a heel, he wasn't going to break through due to Hogan still being on top. Now... a heel Bigelow vs. Hogan feud would have been money at the time. 2. In the long run, do you think his feud with Lawrence Taylor helped or hindered (or did nothing at all to) his career? -I think it hurt in the short term, but for most fans, it didn't do serious damage. He was able to recover a lot of credibility during his ECW tenure. 3. Was Bigelow underutilized in his runs in WWF and WCW? Which of his stints was your favorite? -Absolutely. Bigelow had a ton of ability to be a top level guy. 4. Where does he rank amongst the great superheavyweights of all time? -Right up there in my opinion. Unlike a lot of superheavyweights, Bigelow, as it's been said, was crazy agile and could move with the best of them. He's right up there with Vader in my book. 5. Favorite matches, moments, etc. -Echoing another sentiment... Bigelow's look was beyond awesome and unique. The head tattoos will be a lasting image in terms of Bam Bam Bigelow. Hell, even his name had a good ring to it. I mean in today's world of wrestling... we wouldn't have someone that looks like Bam Bam Bigelow (As Bobby Heenan joked in a shoot interview with Jim Cornette about the subject... they'd be executed at birth). But seriously... Bigelow stands out as someone with a far different look that got over. You don't get that today as everyone, especially in the WWE, is extremely cookie-cutter in look and body make-up.

WWE General Discussion - February 2009

I'm pretty certain they had signs all over the outside area of arena telling people to go home. I think the decision was made way before the normal time to open the doors.

Biggest "Drop the Ball" Moment in Ever

Starting WCW back up in Trenton probably would have had the same impact as what happened in Tacoma.

Worst Year Ever for Pro Wrestling

JCP at least was more old school, gritty, under Turner we got no blood and cartoon gimmicks to copy VInce AWA didn't have to be a non factor, potential was there as late as 2 years earlier to put on great shows with non Vince guys They never got Sting to the truly next level, as politics and whatnot held him back Luger was over and had he had a run with the belt he may not have gotten complacent and lost his overness by 91 Sting's injury at the start of 1990 is what held him back the most. I still say it's one of the most devastating things to have happened to NWA/WCW as they were forced to go into a holding pattern with Luger as the challenger (That no one bought as a serious threat) because everyone knew Sting was getting the belt when he returned. Had Sting beat Flair to start off 1990, you could have had a far different situation. Luger wouldn't have had a rushed face turn so once the business with Flair ended, Sting had a viable challenger in a heel Lex Luger waiting for him.

Worst Year Ever for Pro Wrestling

I disagree: -JCP going out of business did allow Turner to come in and purchase the property, thus saving it from falling into nothing. -AWA was a non-factor by 1988 -Wrestlemania IV might have been a snooze fest, but it was countered by the first Clash of Champions and the Sting/Flair main event that turned Sting into a mega-star -Can't disagree with you on that one, although the names you listed were all on the decline -Come on... Piper is a film legend. -Won't disagree here -Shouldn't we be happy Luger wasn't the next big thing?
