    2009 PPV Prediction Contest

If it counts, I take Young and LAX with the win.

Or even the Raven/Benoit/DDP stuff that was pretty decent as well.

    2009 Hall of Fame

Something I heard on a shoot interview a while back, although it was from the Honky Tonk Man so draw your own conclusions there. Basically, the line was that Bundy had a history of bitching about payoffs and such, and that's the reason he hasn't been used as a Legend or anything like that. As much as I like Windham, I just don't see him going into the Hall of Fame this year, Texas or not.

    NWA Weekly Programming Thread

Ah... good old "Alabama Jr. Heavyweight Champion" "Action" Mike Jackson. Anyone who has ever been to an indy show in Alabama should know good old "Action" Mike Jackson. He's the type that bills himself as "Former NWA/WCW Star Action Mike Jackson" and sells videos of him wrestling and "enhancing" people like Flair and Anderson. He's also never found a crowd where he couldn't generate a cheap pop, usually by referring to the high school team based out of the gym he's wrestling in or by using the Stunner or Diamond Cutter when they were in style. I know every place has a guy like Jackson, but it's always fun to see him pop up on something like this.

    2009 Hall of Fame

In regards to the Von Erichs and Funks, I think the WWE does what they did last year with Eddie Graham and the Brisco Brothers. Dory and Terry will go in as a team, and Fritz will go in as the head of the family. I had forgotten about Paul Boesch, and he would definitely make sense... although if they induct Fritz, I don't see them using two spots for a promoter. DiBiase would be on my shortlist as well, as would the Freebirds, but I don't know how bad their chances are with what Hayes went through last year. They are quite deserving, especially with this happening in Texas, but you've also got to consider The Road Warriors. And I think NEXT year is the year for Howard Finkel. Someone else mentioned Windham and Bundy... I don't see either of them getting in, especially since Windham just got released, and Bundy isn't in the good graces of McMahon.

    2009 Hall of Fame

I'm pretty certain we've had a thread for the Hall of Fame, but this news does make sense. The other no-brainers for this class should be the Funk Brothers and Fitz Von Erich. The rest of it, though, should be interesting to see. They can go a variety of ways, especially if they do like last year and honor people from the state where Wrestlemania is being held.

    Cuts are a comin!

I wouldn't say that the company wellness policy is front and center at this point. Is Holly good friends with some of the power players backstage or something? Like Undertaker or JBL? I've never heard that before. For what was Finlay being punished? The word was that when Finlay pitched the idea to return to the ring (after having been a road agent), Johnny Ace was against it, thinking him too old (or just wanting to keep him in a backstage role). Finlay apparently mentioned his idea to Vince, who loved it. Ace, feeling that Finlay went over his head, saddled him with Hornswoggle, figuring such a gimmick would hurt any credibility Finlay could gain. No wonder John needs management.

    Monday Night Wars

It's not just you. Nitro seems to be the same thing every week to me, but I get through it thanks to some good matches. And, as many people have pointed out before, a major reason why we're about to watch the WWE leave them in the dust.

    Cuts are a comin!

PWI is reporting that talent cuts are coming today. The Edgeheads had better not answer their phones. Either should D'Lo Brown, Candice Michelle, Jim Duggan, Hardcore Holly, Val Venis, Jimmy Yang, Braddock, Goldman, Gavin Spears, Paul Burchill, Sim Snuka, Bam Neely, Katie Lea or Rickie Ortiz for that matter... Venis pretty much is a lifer at this point.

WWE General Discussion - January 2009

Of course Hogan would say that on the air. He looks like the bigger man in that respect. Behind the scenes, however, is a different story.

I have a feeling that if Austin doesn't wrestle, he'll be the referee for Cena/Orton.

How did you get into wrestling?

I was aware of wrestling before I really started watching it. I watched the WWE cartoon on Saturday Morning and knew who Hogan, Andre the Giant, Piper, and people like that were, but I never actually watched wrestling. When a classmate* of mine in second grade (Late 1989/early 1990), had a picture/brief bio book of wrestlers he got a school book-fair, I got hooked. I found out when wrestling would come on TV and started watching it all the time. The first stuff I remember watching was the angle where Cactus Jack would beat up his tag-team partners and the Clash of Champions where Sting injured his knee. It took me a while to understand that the NWA/WCW and WWE were two different companies as I was expecting talent to appear on both shows. * - I still say said classmate is the inspiration for Eric Cartman. He was a fat, obnoxious, spoiled, and showed a lot of traits similar to Cartman. Granted, I don't think Parker and Stone visited Birmingham, Alabama in the early '90s, but when I first saw the character of Cartman... I was like... damn, that's (Said Classmate).

I think he might have actually taped two - the Black History month episode, and one dealing with Texas wrestling legends that will most likely air in March.

WWE 24/7 Classics OnDemand General Discussion

I'm very excited about Mid-Atlantic being put in the rotation. It also looks as if the DX Poker Game will be up next month as well. And Watts on the Legends Roundtable is something I've been looking forward to for a while. I just wish the shorties had the house show match between Vader and Ron Simmons. The crowd reaction to Simmons winning the belt was insane.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

Because the PPV will have a heavy build around the Texas concept. And I'm making a prediction now - if he returns by then - Ted DiBiase is my pick to win Money in the Bank.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

If they did that, they could theoretically pull off an Undertaker/John Cena match. That would be a monumental match, but are you asking for a heel turn for Cena? That has Rock/Austin written all over it in that the face of the company(who wants to be PG 13) would be booed out of Texas. I doubt they would book this with their style of booking now. In 2005-6, I think they would have possibly done it. Cena winning is instant heel heat no matter what and it being the 25th anniversary and in Texas? Good points all around, although they could build it as face vs. face (And the Smackdown vs. Raw match). Still, as you said, Cena would get booed out of the building, especially if it looked as if he was going to end the streak (Which I wouldn't have happen - Cena losing to the Undertaker would not hurt him).
