The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

Punk pulls a repeat... Here's hoping he gets drafted to Smackdown and has a nice World Title feud with Edge (assuming Edge wins tonight).

    2009 Hall of Fame

I believe Austin once again reaffirmed the fact he'll probably never step back into the ring.

    2009 Hall of Fame

Looks like it'll just be Steamboat and Austin's inductions on the broadcast tonight.

    2009 Hall of Fame

Awesome! Fink introduced himself as a NEWWWWWW member of the Hall of Fame. Bill Watts is up next....

Fink is up now, and man... do I miss him as a ring announcer.

    2009 Hall of Fame

I still anticipate a full on "What?" response from the crowd.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

I imagine the Hall of Fame segment will come after Money in the Bank and before the Jericho/Legends match.

Yeah... if Shawn/UT turns out to be what most think it will be... the crowd is going to be pretty dead for the main event.

That's a pretty good order. They must be planning on having Hardy vs. Hardy to go all out by placing the Kid Rock performance and the Diva's battle royal right after it. Having the triple threat match on before Taker/Shawn and Trips/Orton continues to tell me Edge will walk out the winner of that one.

    The 'Unwritten' rules of WWE

Pray they never do a show from your hometown, otherwise, you stand about a 80% chance of being humiliated in some form or fashion.

    The 'Unwritten' rules of WWE

Oh... I thought this was going to be things like don't upgrade from coach to first class if your position doesn't warrant it, don't date above or below your position on the card, and things like that...

    The Purpose of the Security

I understand that, but when you think about it... Goldberg was supposed to be this unstoppable machine so the security was kind of counter-productive. Still, it did make his entrance feel that much more important/special.

Is Barry Windham an all-time great?

I'm a huge Windham fan as well, but in terms of all-time greats... I think Windham is just off of that tier. If he wanted to, however, he could have been far bigger than what he was. I'd put him in the hall of "Really Good".

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

The last time something close to that happening at Wrestlemania was IX, and we all know how that turned out. Trust me... they might do that set-up at other PPV's (Most recently with Edge cheating his way into the Elimination Chamber), but they will not end Wrestlemania, the biggest and most hyped show of the year, with an unannounced MITB cash-in match. Orton/HHH will headline this thing. In fact, here's my guess at match order: -Money in the Bank -JBL vs. Rey -Miz and Morrison vs. The Colons -Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy -Triple Threat Match -Jericho vs. The Legends -Undertaker vs. Shawn -Divas Battle Royal -Orton vs. HHH Probably a little shuffling to that, but more or less... this is how I see it. Basically, you have two definite "bring the crowd back down matches" in the tag-match (No fault of the participants, however as it'll just be a big mess with the lumberjack stipulation) and the Diva's Battle Royale. You can plug them anywhere in the show, but you really can't put Money in the Bank and the Hardys match close to each other, nor can you put one title match directly before the other. Jericho and the Legends will probably also be a placeholder match in terms of tempo and pacing now that I think about it. I have a feeling Shawn and Taker will both feel like they have to deliver big time so I'm seeing the diva's match coming directly after that (much like what they did after Shawn/Flair last year).

    The Purpose of the Security

In my opinion, it also added to the atmosphere of the event... making it seem that much more important.

    Tazz has left WWE?

And a nice comfy place-holder for Smackdown if and when MyNetworkTV folds up for good.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

Doesn't really matter what the main event is, all of the matches will be good. I might get flamed for this... But it's definitely the best WM on paper since WMX7. I totally agree. It also seems like WMX7 had more matches without buildup than this card. I can't think of anything on the card that I wish they'd just get rid of. The only thing really thrown on at the last minute is the lumberjack stipulation for the tag match. Well....the Kid Rock performance is a waste of time. I'm hoping Jericho/Steamboat get some time to work together. I fully expect Steamboat and Jericho to get the bulk of that match. I just hope Jericho goes for the throat.

Unfortunately, not in time for the Hall of Fame ceremony this Saturday. I'm afraid Austin's speech will be ruined by it.

And I seriously doubt they go with the triple threat match to main event either. The winner of that match should tell us who wins in the Orton/HHH. With the draft coming up, I fully expect Edge to win the triple threat match and stay on Smackdown, while Triple H wins against Orton and gets drafted to Raw. I do not see Cena or Orton leaving Raw either.

    Tazz has left WWE?

Last time he put up such a fuss about the possibility of going to Smackdown that they drafted him there. I believe he's using a bit of reverse psychology this time.

WWE General Discussion - March 2009

What explains Gerwitz then? Hasn't he been there like forever? The only ones that seem to last are the Yes men, and the ones that manage to play politics well. I don't think Gerwitz challenges Vince or Stephanie on anything major, and generally just pushes for comedy angles, that they like anyway. To further support the yes-man claim, Gerwitz is supposedly a big fan of the 80's-era WWF... cartoon gimmicks and all.

    Tazz has left WWE?

Is it too much to ask for a Jim Ross/Matt Striker announce team?

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

Agreed... even though it's the biggest match on the card, there is no way Taker/Michaels will close the show. It's going to be Orton/HHH to end Wrestlemania this year.
